So I got these messages in my inbox and cropped out the person’s name to protect the innocent.
Let’s hope this is an April Fool’s day joke, bc if so, wow, everyone involved got us. But…
^Bieberstat. Nightmare material :[
I feel like as an April Fool’s joke this goes kinda too far for the reasons the first message points out. It’s really bad taste (especially the queer erasure) too put it very gently, IMO 😦
Don’t know what’s funnier. That she took the time to think this joke through knowing that it’s actually believable or that it is believable and we think her capable of doing such a horrible thing to us all LOL
THANK U @luthiluthi I, for one, am so relieved. It was too horrible to be funny to me 😦 ugh
Why AR and CR thought any of that was remotely funny is beyond me…
also, i really want there to be more vampires and so on who, instead of speaking in a charming, cultured, but vaguely old-fashioned way because they are a 275-year-old consciousness in an undead, unaging 19-year-old body, talk in embarrassingly misapplied or outdated slang and pop culture references in a failed effort to blend in with their apparent peer group
…or who speak pretty normally most of the time, but lapse into saying stuff like “GOD’S WOUNDS, YOU CUR“ when they get upset enough
vampires who got turned 30 years ago and still say “radical”
vampires who just use WAY too much 90s slang. vampires who say “booyah” when they get too excited.
vampires who mix all slang from the past 5 centuries mercilessly within the same breath and don’t even try to stop it anymore.
Unhand me, you egg-sucking, lily-livered, jive-talking, whackadoo. Foul villain! Cur! I bite my thumb at thee, you ugly motherfucker, so hasta la bye bye, daddy-o!
On a lulz note: THIS IS THE ONLY EXCUSE I CAN MAKE FOR BLOOD CANTICLE? I FEEL LIKE LESTAT IS HANGING OUT WITH YOUNG KIDS AND LIKE, KEYBOARD SMASHING OUT HIS BOOK AND BEING GOOFY CAUSE???? FOR FUN? IDK.
On a serious note: This is actually something that I super duper love on True Blood! It’s really cool insight to see flashbacks of the characters in different flashbacks trying to blend in with different accents, and when it occasionally comes out (ie: Russell Edginton WTFFFFF) it’s actually fucking legit terrifying.
My opinion: Orlok is so much scarier because he’s obviously monstrous, but still needs humanity in some way. Plus, the character design is just so fantastic. The costume and makeup! Unsettling, but you can still see the traces of a person in there.
Also, the practical effects and b&w footage help Nosferatu be much more unnerving, because your brain fills in the gaps. While I am always impressed by what filmmakers can achieve with digital FX, I will always believe that practical FX have a place in horror, and just because you *can* do something digitally in post-production doesn’t mean you should.
Finally, let’s face it: Murnau had a fantastic eye for filming unsettling images.
