So, my Lestat canāt do full RP, there just isnāt the time for it, but he does answer Asks here.
The best way to break into RP is to send Asks to RP characters who CAN do threads, and start a conversation! Some of them prefer to RP with people who have a blog set up for just RP but some of them will have a conversation with anyone š
Check out my tags below, you might find some active RPers that way. Go shopping, find one you like, peruse their archive, see who they interact with, and if you want to engage them, send them a private message and try to start a thread.Ā

In short, Anne Rice had waged war on VC fanfic in the mid-90s, sicāing her lawyers on many fanfic writers, eventually breaking apart fanfic sites (āspeculative fictionā or āspecā archives/communities) and driving many of these writers to stop writing altogether or do so in a more underground way.
Currently, sheās had conflicting stances on fanfic, but hasnāt made outright war at nearly that level. We try not to tag her in discussions of it, basically, we donāt try to provoke her by making our caches of VC fanfic known. Especially on Facebook, where sheās very active and might see it. She posted this on her FB in 2014 (I think):
Archive of Our Own (aka AO3) should satisfy you. Lots of good things about that site, one of which is the ability to bookmark/download/comment/kudos fics. They also have a mission statement about protecting these fanworks from copyright infringement arguments.
Thereās also fanfiction.net, which I havenāt really tried, ppl say itās good.Ā

Also, explore the VC RP community here on tumblr, their threads are a form of fanfic. We donāt really have a wide-spread active VC RP directory but you can start with the vcdirectoryĀ (not updated currently, but there may still be some blogs on there to peruse),Ā vcpositivity, and withinthesavagegarden.Ā
Just an update here from the page admins, weāve went through our ask box and cleared through all the messages for those sending in their applications for the directory and added them there! We are still accepting more!Ā
