Nice! Made me smile. Oh Armand, burning art deliberately to rebel against your murder bro, naughty ginger *tsk tsk tsk* Reblogged it. Thanks for sharing with us :3
♥u♥ You’re so so welcome! I’m happy to serve in my own little way *stops self from getting all super mushy bc you’ve all heard it all before so i will put it in the tags*
For the most part, yes, I am grateful for that blessing EVERY DAY. Seriously. Every SJW™ argument that passes my dash, I breathe easier when I see that it’s not for OUR fandom.
Fiction =/= Reality. Fiction has been used for centuries to explore and investigate things we love about Reality, things we don’t understand, even things we find repulsive about Reality. Fiction is in fact Speculative Reality: “What if X happened to Y? How would that improve our understanding of X and Y?”
To investigate the text thoughtfully is one thing, but our fandom veterans -myself included- can see that a lot of this SJW Culture™ seems more about “calling out,” choosing a Problematic™ topic to battle with (there are tons in our canon to choose from!) and using that as an excuse to attack, rather than the desire for a rational discussion. They often do this in the name of Righteousness (for popularity? Or just their own satisfaction?), but there are so many Problematic™ topics that are NOT simply black or white, topics which have been argued about long before the internet, and will continue to be argued about forever! I’ve seen good blogs deactivate (or go on hiatus) for being dogpiled for the slightest headcanon or SJW disagreements, and that’s not what I want to promote in our fandom, regardless of who’s right.
Sometimes, I just want to enjoy something without feeling bad about it. There’s plenty to feel bad about in the world and while in some cases SJWs are useful when they try to attack EVERYTHING, they take the fun out of life.
Life, literature and art have always been problematic. True art provokes. What, do these SJWs want a nanny-state? Or how about a Puritan Revival?
Yes, fight for what’s right, but don’t get in the way of others trying to enjoy stuff.
Merci beaucoup for the blessings, so happy u found us! *hugs tightly* AND ANOTHER SOUL IS CLAIMED BY THE VC FANDOM.
(Your English is just fine, btw. We have butchered our own language w/ internet speak so badly that it’s a wonder we native English speakers/writers can communicate at all, lol)
THANK GOODNESS you’re back and you’re responding so rationally! See? More info is the cure for jumping to conclusions. I’m glad that I was able to clear up a lot of the issues in my usual eloquent and honest way ;]
You’re forgiven for lashing out. Hyperbole is out there in the world, take this as a learning experience to not let it rile you so easily.
And it took me at least 3 hours to write that reply so it’s even better to know it was worth it.
Next time, message me privately, rather than lash out creepily on Anon.
Yes, you did change my policy, for the better. This instance was the last straw after a few prior attempts to “call me out” on things. It reminded me that this should be fun for me, I’m not paid to do it, I have no obligation to anyone (aside from the Tumblr guidelines of appropriate use). I try to make sure my facts are correct before stating anything definitive, and I admit when I don’t know smtg.
However, few ppl would come back and admit that they were a little hasty before, so that is much appreciated. Thanks for doing that. It was a huge relief.
When smtg upsets you, first do some introspection, why are you letting this rile you? Then, calmly, do some investigation and/or ask for info in a respectful way.
THANK YOU SO MUCH but Really?! You love the blog’s visual identity? That is very generous of you and much appreciated.
However, a massive revamp (pun intended har har) of this blog is in the works. If I may be self-deprecative for a moment, I’ve looked at it for over 2 years, so hit the jump for a list of what assaults my eyeballs when I look at this blog now.
The logo is safe, feedback already received on that, and the content will still be what you’ve come here for ^______^ The mission statement is still “Bursting blood vessels through fanworks!” But OVERALL it needs a more harmonized style, a touch of maturity in the color scheme, bc this thing has changed me. I’m not the same person who started this thing as mainly a cloud storage for the fanart I’ve collected. It’s grown into smtg so so much richer than that *u*
Fortunately, my longest RL VC friend (can you believe she has tolerated me for 20+ years?? She is my sister from another mister) is a programmer and she is gonna hold my hand through the process.
Stuff that assaults my eyes:
The layout of the tiles,
not enough tiles,
the Like and Reblog buttons. I don’t like them as text. I think I want to make them the familiar symbols. And larger.
the color scheme… I am kind of sick of slate-grays and purples 😛
too many font colors…
the difficulty of reading the text against the individual post BGs…
the current bloodied-wall/distressed-velvet background. It’s not grunge, it’s too high-contrast, it’s an assault 😛
Could think of more, but that’s the worst of it, for now.
