I’m about 25% of the way through my slow and painful read of Prince Lestat. I have to say that there are some bits that I DO like, I wouldn’t throw the whole thing in the bin for it’s cracky plot points (which are hella cracky).

Yes, Louis and Armand are very much in it 😉

omfg
Someone buy if for me
Louis wears this when he needs to make a point. So, I guess that every night.
ooc; I was literally just about to reblog this and say that. Louis wears it to most coven gatherings. And every time Lestat’s about to publish a new book.
ooc: My headcanon Louis is now always wearing this when he’s not wearing a hideous sweater.
Or the Prince Lestat t-shirt, you know, just to needle Lestat.
// i kind of hate Rose? I mean not as much as i hate this entire book
//There isn’t much likable about Rose. She comes out of nowhere, is loved for no reason, contributes nothing to the book at all.
//Yes i didnt know how to put that feeling into actual words you nailed it ouo
And she’s a self-sert for AR.
It was so hard to read her section. I kept telling myself, “I’m only reading this book ONCE, so I cannot skim EVEN THIS, surely there is some little tiny scrap of good to be sifted for in the story of Rose?”
NO THERE WAS NOT. And did anyone else notice that her “boyfriend“‘s name is GARDNER? ONE WHO GARDENS ROSES?! Brilliant name-choosing there, AR.
ooc; Okay, but the part where Louis was like “don’t worry baby we’re going to sue” and then suddenly there was fire everywhere
//I did not notice the Gardener thing. I was too busy trying to figure out if I was supposed to know Rose from one of the other books or one of the Mayfair books or something (I never finished those). I love that Louis + Fire is basically the best pairing in PL, but otherwise, what was even the point of her? Viktor’s purpose was to be the bait to lure Lestat places, but Rose literally served no purpose at all.
Also I don’t buy that Louis would be okay with “adopting” a kid? Like I get saving her ass and financially supporting her, I guess. But not playing Uncle Lestan and forcing Louis to play Uncle Lestan’s “friend.”
The entire Viktor and Rose thing could have been left out with absolutely no impact on the book. I have many problems with this book, but those two? Yawn.
ooc; Don’t worry, I’m sure in the next book vampire!scientist will discover how to make female vampires get pregnant and then Rose & Viktor will have Lestat’s granddaughter and her name will be Petunia
//Well, obviously. How else will they restart The Great Family? Excuse me, I need to launch myself into the sun now.
ooc; After six generations, they produce an heir that Lestat makes a vampire, and that heir’s name is Sweet Potato Vine de Lioncourt
friendlyneighbourhoodpizzaman:
Reading fanfiction is the worst because you start out with “I’ll just read this cute one shot” then suddenly it’s four am and you have 12 tabs open and you’re crying again because THEY DESERVE TO BE HAPPY WHY CANT THEY JUST BE HAPPY
This is nothing…in our fandom you have to wade through mountains of crap only to be once again let down. That’s why we write it ourselves—-at least sooner or later the myriad ‘ships unite on some level.
^PREACH.
17 yos are in fact capable of wild sex… in some cultures, boys as young as 12 have been married, and considered men at that age.
In ancient Greece, boys as young as 12 were in sexual relationships with adult men.
Also Armand is actually a 500+ yo vampire. He just looks like a young boy. Anne Rice’s definition of “young boy” is open to interpretation.
ooc; reasons to not spoil your kids:
idk how but it’s lestat’s fault
