replied to your post “About the poised/boner (the same anon btw) book referances Priapos…”
my hc was always that they couldn’t get it up; that the “at the gate” bit meant that it was waiting to rise to the ocassion, but they lacked the ability either physically, or else they were no longer sexually aroused bc blood was a far greater pleasure to them.
That’s my hc, too, at least for Ricean vampires. As much as they might have disliked eachother IRL, Tom and Brad definitely conveyed the ecstasy of blood sharing, a form of intimacy similar to (or as AR has put it, better than) sex.

About the poised/boner (the same anon btw) book referances Priapos actually therefore im just going to imagine Louis screaming and running away from Lestat lol. I didnt read the book in English, the line in mine translates “standing erect” in English
(Re: the ongoing debate about the “Priapus at a gate” quote. But let’s not go there, plz don’t send me messages about it, I’ve stated my opinion so many times ffs!)
Louis spent a lot of time screaming and running away from Lestat, that’s just canon. But he always usually came back on his own ❤

^Oh wow, this may actually be the source of many ppl’s headcanon on this! We can’t expect you to disagree w/ a translator but for them to define it that way would certainly influence your headcanon…
BUT I just CANNOT ACCEPT THE IDEA that they are all walking around w/ permanent boners, as Louis would say: “I can’t. Or more truly, I will not.”
I just feel like it would have gotten alot more canon support if that were really the case. It’s referred to as being like the rest of their flesh, which is usually just compared to marble.
Let’s respect #your headcanon may vary on this topic.
I’m reading the Queen of the Damned and all of a sudden Lestat woke up with a boner. The only combination of letters to represent my feelings right now would be: asdfghjkl

But the important question is, why did Louis memorize this passage?
Idk there’s some discussion whether “poised” meant “boner” and I never interpreted that way, bc how awkward would it be for them to all be walking around w/ tents pitched in their pants? I THINK IT WOULDA BEEN MENTIONED BEFORE. Like in IWTV when Lestat first appears to Louis. Pretty sure Louis would have run screaming.
I think “poised” meant “waiting in normal default resting position,” which sounds alot less poetic, and I think his point in mentioning it was bc he woke up alot whiter, and it was bizarre to see that change all over his body. Plus all these women were coming into the room and they were barely able to keep from pouncing on his joysitck, bc, y’know, LESTAT.
