Let’s all remember that fandom is supposed to be FUN

gingerhairedimmortalHad to delete the blog I had whose express purpose was spreading love to the fandom because of all the hate mail it got over the last 24 hours.

Which is especially sad considering I hadn’t been on that blog since Friday so it had nothing to do with any of the drama

~ ~ ~

Pain is a part of people’s lives.  I do everything I can to try to ease that pain with everyone I meet.

In the words of my former alter-ego, Try spreading the love to the VC fandom, one ask at a time.  Please, I beg you, reach out to someone, ANYONE and tell them how wonderful they are.

We are all fighting a losing battle and sometimes that little push an ask can bring is enough to help someone through a terrible time.

What I posted earlier was true, I love this fandom and every person in it.  I just wish I saw more love for each other on my dash than hate.

^Agreed.

^YES.

Very sad that vc-anon-fairy got hate. PEOPLE. Our fandom is small enough and has been through enough crap (at the hands of our own creator!) that we don’t need to do it to ourselves.

So you want to warn people that there are toxic people out there, and not to interact with them. Okay. The message has come across, and we’re all en garde now. I mean that sincerely. I’ve learned my lesson about making friends online… In real life I try to be the better version of myself, the cheerleader, the friend to many, that I am online, and I’m not there yet.

Tumblr is big enough for all the RPers to have fun out here. If you don’t want to interact with another RPer, that is absolutely fine. Unfollow them, block them, don’t check out their blog, live, and let live.

Lestat, any thoughts on this?

“Darling, don’t cry. You’re still our leader.” (Eleni to Armand one night, after a bad fight between Armand and Nicolas)

thegingerhairedimmortal:

“I can’t keep this up, Eleni.  Something needs to change because he will be the ruin of us all but Lestat will too if anything happens to him,” Armand sighed, wiping the traitorous tears from his eyes.

Kissed

merciful-death:

Send 'Kissed' and I’ll generate a number from 1 to 45 to determine where your muse has kissed mine and how my muse reacts!
5. Lips

They’d argued again tonight, or rather, Armand had stood before him, exasperated as he pleaded with Louis to feel again, to love him, be joyous with him, whilst Louis himself had simply sat apathetic in his chair, listening more closely to the music of Frank Sinatra that played upon their radio than to his companion of years.

He’d died within that courtyard with her eighty-some years ago, and no matter how much or often Armand wished to prop up his walking corpse and attempt to appease him, little would change the fact that he now felt nothing.  Louis was certain it would be only a short stretch of time before the elder vampire left him, and yet he felt nothing for that either.

It had been sudden—Armand’s lips crushing themselves against his, Louis’ eyes widening only slightly in reaction.  The kiss expressed all that his companion—lover—had spoken of, yet allowed him no room to ignore.

For a quick and fleeting moment, his heart clenched with realization that perhaps in some other circumstances, they could have been happy.

Value Me (//I hope I’m not too late for this)

thegingerhairedimmortal:

What do I think about you?  Where do I even begin?

You are the savior of our kind, the one who ensured our continued salvation and our new Queen.  My life and that of my fledgling are in your debt.

You are one of the oldest, one of the few to have managed our extended existence without a break, without going to ground.  You have my admiration and I wish to learn how you have done such a thing.

You walk the line between your mortal family who you love and your immortality.  I can only hope to learn the secret to how you love so deeply yet are able to let go.

You have suffered much pain and loss and yet you continue to be positive and loving.  I want to be more like you.

Our hair may be similar but the rest of our beings are so very different.  The world needs more people like you and less people like me.  I want to be your apprentice, to follow you through the world and maybe, someday become as admired, as strong, and as loving as you.  My Queen.

The world needs more people like you and less people like me. ;A;

I love the fact that the fandom appears to be in agreement that the least favorite character in VC is Anne

gingerhairedimmortal:

We can put up with characters who are the psychopaths, the pedophiles, the monsters, the insane.  We can love the badasses, the bitches, the criers, the pyros, and the mad.  The cold and distant, the fiery and passionate.

But what we can’t deal with is an author who can’t even remember the names of her own characters and gets pissed at people for pointing out her discontinuities and out-of-characterizations.

Give us the evil vampires.  Spare us the authorial nonsense.

Agreeeeed!

Sure! “People of the Page” is how AR addresses her fans on FB.

The difference between PotP and the rest of the VC fandom is that they (for the most part) seem to blindly worship her with a fervent devotion that borders on zealotry. I’ve seen them in RL getting very emotional at booksignings and tell her how her book(s) have changed their lives, and she thanks them courteously, but her expression is like, “Omg, take a chill pill, it’s just a book.”

I “liked” her FB page, too. That doesn’t make me a PotP, the way we refer to them. Real PotP members:

  • Don’t question her on any cause.
  • Accept every AR written word as canon (I think they do, but I might be wrong).
  • Support her automatically against any attack. The Amazon bullying is a good example, I don’t know the details but I think she had a right to defend herself against overly negative reviewer(s).
  • Are against fanfic or any other fanworks (when AR is against it)

So clearly the rest of the VC fandom is different, bc we do question her causes, we do not accept everything as canon, do not support her without looking into the issue ourselves first, and clearly, we love our fanfic and fanworks.

Hope that answers it for you!

//Can I ask a question? What is the difference between the “People of the Page” and the rest of the fandom? I saw Rosie comment about that in one of her posts and you were referenced so I thought you might be able to shed some light on this for a poor confused newbie :)

“People of the Page” is how AR addresses all the people who follow/comment/Like her FB page, but more specifically… it’s her army.

Hold up, let me clarify. I, for example, “Like” AR’s FB page, so I see her posts on my FB feed. I like to read them, and sometimes I Like them, or comment.

The difference between me (i.e. part of the non-PotP VC fandom) and the real “People of the Page” is that they are fervently devoted to her and defend her at the slightest provocation w/out question (sometimes that’s good). For example, the big Amazon review conflagration. I actually haven’t read up on that whole thing so I don’t know exactly what happened.

ANYWAY, the bottom line is that these PotP often side with her on the NO FANFIC issue (and other issues that AR holds dear), which comes into direct conflict with the rest of the VC fandom, who DO support fanfic, etc.

So we might never reconcile our relationship w/ the PotP but we can coexist with them. Hope that helped!
