That’s great that you want to bring someone(s) into this with you! We can always use fresh blood ;D
TBH, tho, it’s not for everyone. Ppl who deliberately don’t read vampire lit bc of Twilight are not totally wrong. They might have valid personal reasons, maybe they don’t like blood/gore, maybe they don’t like the idea of biting or being bitten as erotic IRL, there are plenty of reasons before we even get anywhere NEAR the Problematic things that generally come up with vampire lit.
Don’t be disappoint if they won’t turn, the Dark Trick is not an exact science, and don’t look at it as a failure on your part.
I’ve been where you are many times, Anon, and in fact I lent the IWTV DVD to a mortal VERY recently, and he keeps RESISTING WATCHING IT but apparently he will TONIGHT “It’s gonna be an Interview with the Vampire night!” he said, without a trace of trepidation, but WE’LL SEE, WON’T WE, MR. EXCESSIVELY TALL PERSON!?
I think the best you can do to try to make new VC fledglings is to ask them to watch IWTV bc as far as adaptations go, yes it changes some things but it was intended to appeal to a wider audience than just the existing fans, and I think it was successful in that regard.
If you want your friend to read the books instead, give them the capsule reviews, which set this series so far from the other vampire lit. @high-fructose-lesbianism‘s capsule VC reviews are pretty gr9 [X]:
Lestat’s Adventures with a Progressive Family
Lestat’s Bisexual Adventures in 18th Century France
Lestat’s Adventures with the Queen of the Vampires
Lestat’s Adventures as a Human
Lestat’s Adventures with Satan
Lestat’s Adventures in a Coma
Lestat’s Adventures with Polyamory
Lestat’s Adventures in the Deep South
Lestat’s Adventures with Not Being There At All
Lestat’s Adventures with Witches and Other Weird Shit
Lestat’s adventures with Being the Vampire Head of State
Lestat’s Adventures with Literal Fucking Aliens
(Note, Pandora and Vittorio are technically stand-alone “New Tales of the Vampires” books, but Pandora would be No. 6 of the 13 book series).
You can check my #VC Synopsis tag, which has more capsule humorous summaries.
So, erm, I didn’t read the HP books, only saw some (maybe all, by now) of the movies ;A; So I’m not qualified to have an opinion or even qualified to properly summarize/sort other ppl’s opinions on this.
However! I’ve been asked about this before tho so check these answers out:
^I STILL think Claudia would end up in the same house as Lestat, continuing the tradition like the Malfoy line does, but I could be wrong on that. The sorting hat would be taking a LONG time w/ Claudia, tho.
Anyone is invited to sort our beloved characters! Do the thing (ノ^ヮ^)ノ*:・゚✧
It always annoys me when I see fang marks placed like that instead of vertically. Just picture how awkward the position of vampire’s head would be!
S A M E.
In the movie when fledgling!Louis is really trying to vampire properly and he’s looking for a good spot to bite, you can almost seem him go, “Yeah no, this angle? Bad spot, no, um maybe this angle? Nope…” It’s like someone learning how to kiss, poor Louis ;A; and it’s even funnier bc it’s Brad frickin’ Pitt who you would assume would be a professional at Making Out and hickey delivery, but the character is hella uncomfortable having to do this at all so none of that applies!
Thanks for the praise on the recent Louis posts (links under the cut)! #we appreciate and love Louis in this house ❤
I think ppl forget that Louis is just as passionate and vengeful as Lestat, it’s just that he isn’t as vocal or showy about it. He’s more intimate and intense.
yeah he’s pretty but how can one forget him murdering a theatre full of ppl or that unlike most of our vampire friends hes the one that kills indiscriminately.
IKR? It took planning to kill a theatre full of older vampires who had honed their vampiry gifts. Louis does get pushed around, but he learns from it, and he comes back with a strategy. Lestat’s more of an impulse fighter.
And yes, Louis kills indiscriminately, which is scarier bc there’s nothing you can do to avoid it other than to not cross his path. At least you know you’re safe form Marius or Lestat as long as you’re not a certifiable Evildoer™
;D
In case anyone else missed them and you want to indulge in some Louis praise/discussion:
Hey! Thanks for coming back! I was glad to see the commentary that post and the other recent Louis posts (links under the cut) got, too. #We appreciate and love our lovely-yet-deadly angel Louis in this house ❤
As a character he’s so interesting; he has insecurities, but used his “assets” to his advantage. He isn’t afraid to be tactful and curb stomp anyone and that’s just another reason why I love him omg
^AGREED, well-put, anon! He’s flawed, but also inspiring and motivational.
(Did you mean “tactical” rather than “tactful” ? He’s both ^______^ )
