FAR TOO MANY. But I can’t be all that annoyed at them bc I think it might have been translated that way in some languages. Other things have been lost in translation or changed, and that’s affected ppl’s headcanons.
“A” is used in some translations, I don’t know why.
True, it is a story about a whole bunch of vampires. Why am I so picky about this… “a” just sounds wrong to me, y’know?
It ends with Louis as a vampire in isolation. Has he isolated himself to prevent himself from being manipulated by others? Or to prevent himself from hurting others? There’s plenty of reasons to isolate oneself.
Part of the point of “the” is probably that Louis actually is more special than he thinks. Like AR herself, he passively let a lot of things happen in his life, but did grow throughout the course of the novel, and by the end he’s very much gained his own autonomy, in ways he himself may not even fully realize. I think this is why AR never wrote a whole novel from his POV again, she had pretty much exorcised those demons.
It was also a great way to piss Lestat off, how dare Louis refer to himself as “THE” vampire. Lestat makes it very clear that he’s the one that should have been interviewed, giving himself “The” as the very first word in the title of his novel ;]

My first four books in The Vampire Chronicles arrived today, very excited to sit down and read them. I would like to thank @i-want-my-iwtv for introducing me to the whole series and not just the movies, thank you so much!! ✨
You’re so welcome! Seeing a stack of books like that is like seeing old friends 😀
I “met” Lestat for the first time during my third year of high school and there was the twilight-hype everywhere so all my classmates where like: “read twilight read twilight!) xD I had never thought of reading something vampires-related because I’ve never been an horror fan (better, I can’t read horror because I am afraid of almost everything…especially clowns, but this is another story~) and I had always associated vampires with this genre. Buut I was veeery curious to find out more about these fantasy creatures (I love fantasy! ♡), but Twilight was not at all my cup of tea! so I started browsing in my usual bookshoop and then I found…it: “interview with the vampire”! I remember that I thought: “this title is cool!”, although I expected something like an essay about vampires in literature in the form of an interview (I expected to receive answers on vampires mythology by Louis…now it seems a bit hilarious since he’s always whining about not having a clue xD), but I was not disappointed at all by the actual book *-* and then…it was a marathon of the whole series in a summer and I also saw the movie (and I also made my friends watch it, but not all of them appreciated it …ppst: the Italian dubbing is very good for this one!).
My favourite character at first was Louis (aah the charm of the good and tormented guy!), but then I fell in love with Lestat when I read “the vampire lestat” (“Scelti dalle tenebre”/“Chosen by darkness” in Italian)…very traditional story I guess xD! I love his endless love for life :3 (and I ship him hard with nicki and louis of course u.u). Moreover, I felt really near him in because of some similar thoughts I had in that period of my life, and the part of human-lestat always moves me ;__;
I also like Louis, Gabrielle and David Talbot 🙂 but in general I like them all (well…except Dora *hem hem*).
I’ve also read the mummy and angel time (here only “angel”) but not all anne rice books are published here or some of them are not easy to find (cry to heaven for example) so I think I’ll read them in English! 🙂
I hope my answer was entertaining and my English not too awkward XD
As I said, I love stories like these, and this one did not disappoint, thank u!
Re: Twilight an old memeything by someone else ages ago:
“Scelti dalle tenebre”/“Chosen by darkness” in Italian
^That’s hot. HOT. When does that occur in the book/movie?
the Italian dubbing is very good
Oh wow, I should check that out. I think French is the only other language option on the DVD I have.
Yay! 😀 I’m glad!
This could be renamed as “how Lestat saved me from Twilight LOL
I love that meme! X”’D
I think that the Italian title is referred to the whole “oh what a beautiful child of darkness you will be”…I guess. We changed also other VC titles:
– Blood and gold (I love this title ♡) here is “Il vampiro Marius” (the vampire marius…yes, we have the vampire marius but not the vampire lestat XD)
– Blackwood farm is “il vampiro di blackwood” (the vampire of blackwood)
– Blood canticle is only “blood” because “omg too religious CUT IT CUT IT!”
– Angel time>>only angel because yes
Oh and…we don’t have vittorio the vampire T_T

this is the “dinner scene” 😀 the only strange thing is that they pronounce “Louis” as “Lúi” and it is a pronoun (he/him) in Italian, so some sentences came out a bit…strange and hilarious ’_’
I saw the original version too but I can’t figure out very clearly…what accent are they using? >//
^this is all relevant to my interests. So bizarre, the revision of the titles of all those books!
Watch that dinner scene in Italian, I think they got the voices very close to the original ones. I often find that the French dubs of things, for example, have lower voices in general.

I think the actors ended up sounding just plain American English, although certain characters seemed to have that Creole NOLA accent going (like Yvette, and Claudia’s seamstress) or spoke French entirely (Claudia’s first kill).
Tom’s Lestat was going for a classic novel rhythm to the way he spoke, the emphasis he put on certain words in a sentence. Canon Lestat is half-French and half-Italian (his momma, Gabrielle, is Italian), but he grew up entirely in France so he would have more of a French accent.
