thisdayinhorror:

On this day in horror history, Interview with the Vampire was released in 1994.

Fair warning: I’m extremely partial and biased toward Anne Rice and Tom Cruise. Sorry in advance if you want to throw up in your mouth from my gushing BUT….

This is my most favorite vampire movie ever made. I love Anne Rice’s vampires – the elegance, the complexity, the imminent danger.

This is one of the few movies that I like that is based on a book. The cast is phenomenal. Everyone is beautiful. Tom Cruise is still beautiful when he’s just a rotten carcass playing the piano.

 My favorite line is:

“Evil is a point of view. God kills indiscriminately and so shall we. For no creatures under God are as we are, none so like him as ourselves.”

This is a beautiful movie and the whole series is beautiful. And best of all, she’s writing again, finally.

Now, go be enthralled by The Brat Prince.

Tom Cruise is still beautiful when he’s just a rotten carcass playing the piano.

Having read both blood vivicanti and my immortal, my immortal is worse for editing and continuity reasons but I give blood vivicanti points for actually being a published work and for having the dumbest original ideas. The elements in my immortal don’t work together but individually are plausible and fine. Can’t say that for the blood vivicanti the concept and every piece of universe building is bad from its very inception

There you have it, fanged little trash monsters. hyperbeeb took one for the team, and reported back in one piece! From her commentary, I’d say few brain cells, if any, were sacrificed in the process.

(FYI that star is transparent, ENJOY)

The ending of this novel is beyond dumb. It makes you wonder how these Vampires even lived to be as old as they are. They decide they need a ruler so they adopt a Vampire monarchy complete with Lestat as ruler based solely on everyone knowing who he is. Mind you, this is the same Vampire who hates rules, the same Vampire who was dumb enough to turn his powerful body over to a human he just met, the same Vampire who turned his body over to a lab ran by Vampires he just met, allowed them to take DNA samples from him and inject him with drugs, and was just suicidal at the beginning of the book and has shown suicidal tendencies in the past. THIS is who every last Vampire is trusting their very existence to, this suicidal hamburger brained moron called Lestat.

ooc; My favorite part of a review for PL on Amazon. (via merciful-death)

Review of Prince Lestat, By Anne Rice:Special Midnight Review Post!!

communistdracula:

Congratulations everyone!!! 😀 Read this wonderful review to “vamp” yourself up!

You guys… I skimmed it and came across this gem:

“This novel demonstrates Anne Rice’s greatest heights reached, as a talented novelist, as she adeptly articulates the overall artistic and philosophic trajectory of the Vampire Chronicles. Impressively, she takes every disparate element of the series from the start, and ties it together in a new unified whole,…”

Agree? Y/N?

FYI Prince Lestat was not delivered to my e-reader at the stroke of midnight. Wonder when it will magically deliver…

//Mine either. Glad I didn’t plan to start til tomorrow.

Yeah, if it had dropped at midnight I wouldn’t sleep tonight AT ALL, reading it… I’m grateful for the delay. Just a little more time before we all know what happens and whether the NYT review was accurate in reporting that it’s “a dreadful novel.”
