So I met Santiago Stephen Rea last night after his performance in A Particle of Dread, and brought him two headshots, intending for him to choose which one he preferred to sign.

He signed both. I was very pleased.

To explain the “20 yrs” comment: I had told him I’ve been a fan of his for 20 yrs “…because of this,” and that’s when I handed him the headshots. He smiled, said, “Oh, that was so fun.” And then I asked him for a memorable story from the set. He thought for a moment, and said he couldn’t really remember anything specific except the Fred Astaire gag, and I let him explain it to me, even though WE ALREADY KNOW HOW THAT WORKED FROM THE DVD bc clearly, it was his most memorable moment.

Sorry you can’t see my face with him, but I felt like I’d asked enough of him, couldn’t ask for a selfie, too… and so you get my backside and his frontside!

PS. He liked my pen. It’s a Marvy calligraphy pen, 2.0. I almost gave it to him. It’s a great pen to use when getting autographs bc of the variable line weight.

This scene created in me a life-long desire to own a scythe.

SAME. Also every scene where someone pets Louis’s hair made me want to have hair like him. Siiiigh.

In the book it was just a random farm scythe. Stronger element of JUSTICE in the movie version, to be killed by your own – and very real, not a prop – scythe.

“In a kitchen garden I saw something, something that had only been vague in my thoughts until I had my hands on it. It was a small scythe, its sharp curved blade still caked with green weeds from the last mowing. And once I’d wiped it clean and run my finger along the sharp blade, it was as if my plan came clear to me and I could move fast to my other errands…” – Interview with the Vampire

Who’s your favourite charactor of IWTV, mine is Santiago, it’s bad that he isn’t that much in the movie cause he’s awesome.

Y’know I have to give you some credit for choosing Santiago bc he does not get nearly enough attention. Yes he’s a terrible, awful, monster, but he was a great character, a fantastic actor, a cruel antagonist… it takes some effort to be that evil!

I suspect and there is a secret fanfic that supports this theory that Santiago considered himself 2nd-in-command and maybe more to Armand, and he felt himself very usurped when Louis came into the picture, and had it in for Louis from the first moment Armand made heart-eyes at Louis.

Santiago deserved some decent backstory.

MY favorite character of IWTV… that’s tough. In terms of the movie I think all of the actors (even Antonio!!!) did a fantastic job with their roles. I’d go with Claudia only because she was just the perfect mix of sweetness and icy screamy-ness and just had Louis wrapped around her little finger.

In book!IWTV it’s Lestat who’s my fave… How can you not love him with this combination (and more!) of character traits: Charismatic, mixing silly with sinister, mysteriously hinting at a rich and traumatic backstory (which we definitely got later), and of course, lastly, intensely handsome.

inspired by this Game of Thrones post right here.

fallingloki# SANTIAGO AKA MY LOVE   # U WERE A MINOR CHARACTER IN THE SERIES BUT A MAJOR CHARACTER IN MY HEART   # vc   # iwtv

Santiago is a horrible monster, but there was something magnetic about him all the same, maybe due to his insistence on Obeying the Rules w/ Extreme Sass. To be such a fantastic antagonist, just what was his DAMAGE, y’know? just want more of his backstory!
