so, I revamped (pun very much intended) one of my most popular drawings of our beloved prince đÂ
Itâs now available both on my Redbubble and Society6 (which I just launched!). If you are after some fancy items like beach towels, shower curtains and giant comforters, Society6 is a place for you! đÂ
Dearest @sheepskeleton, I thought that you might get a kick out of this. This is me, in Vienna, wearing your Armand shirt, about to watch a musical about Vivaldi, a redhead from Venice who was forced into priesthood when all he wanted to do was make art, starring Drew Sarich, who played Armand on Broadway. xD I had a pretty good day! â¤
re: OMG this is amazing and I am SO getting a kick out of it! ⤠thank you for sharing! â¤
[my redbubble shop, if anyone wants this shirt or anything else]
So, I had a few spare pieces, was reading Blackwood Farm from the Vampire Chronicles and wham! I got the idea. Introducing my Vampire Lestat custom Funko Pop! figure! đ Tom Cruise made a GREAT Leastat â¤
Well you can design one for yourself! I designed this on zazzle, but it wouldnât met me save it w/ logging in. Font I picked here is the very fancy sounding âRock Show Whiplashâ ;D
Sheâs so thrilled about it! She doesnât even know what her shirt says!
OMG A JEWELRY PERSON! [re: Lestatâs thumb ring] This was exactly what I was hoping for, that a jewelry person would see that post! I want to take hot jewelry classes so bad omg
(I can do coldworking w/ beads and wire, might try to sell those here at some point).
It could be done with moldmaking. Youâd make a master ring with all the filligree detail (tbh idk how filligree is applied) and then cast copies of it in an affordable but durable metal. Maybe mine isnât pewter, thatâs what I thought it was, like those little figurines you get at Renaissance Faires⌠(like the dragon here) but if pewter is strong, then mine might not be pewter bc it has at least one hairline crack in it as you can seeee đÂ
Yes, keep it in mind for next yearâs workshop, message me privately, I could help come up w/ a design that might be easier to make. Like I said, I headcanon that Lestat has a lot of these, so it doesnât need to be identical to the one in the movie ^______^
Iâm sorry to tell you that I got my Lestat ring in 1994 for like $15 at Hot Topic so itâs highly unlikely youâd find it there now đ (Iâve seen them pop up on eBay in different variations from time to time, tho. See below for that.) Iâve been meaning to make a post about MY thumb ring tho and this is the perfect excuse to do it!
When I compare mine to the ring in the movie, itâs different (other than the fact that itâs too big for me lol). I headcanon that Lestat has tons of these in different designs and that he likes how chunky and uglyrugged and masculine mine is ^______^
^I didnât have another hand to take the pic so I had to use a banana instead of my wrist look how committed I am to you that I did that just to approximate the angle.
So you can see that the designs are very different, and the curved tip is pretty much just straight on mine, highly impractical for the vampiry purpose although mine can still pierce things.Â
^Heâs got swirls of filigree, I have⌠melty loops? Almost a fleur-de-lys? I canât wear it often bc itâs made of pewter, pretty fragile.Â
^This ring was not mentioned in the books, it was apparently Neil Jordanâs idea, modeled after the thumb picks guitarists sometimes wear (which I also had to buy bc reasons and might be wearing backwards?). Itâs meant to be a teensy ref to Lestatâs rock career in the next book ;]
Itâs also a lot of metal around the pad of my thumb so after a while you get that smelly effect like when youâre wearing a bandaid :- Iâd love to get in touch w/ a jewelry designer to make one more like the movie version, and also more breathable on the underside, and sell it for a reasonable price bc ppl want it!
Hereâs a listing on eBay from March 2015, the seller doesnât appear active. Theirs is a lot closer to the movie version than mine, but much more expensive for their dedication (GBP 95.00;Â Approximately US $171.98). Lestatâs on the left.
