Dora and Lestat shared a very intimate experience in Memnoch the Devil that had not occurred in canon before, and has not happened since, but it’s a situation that anyone interested in vampires might have wondered about before. Lestat was exhausted and very badly upset, it had been a long trip, and Dora seemed happy to console him in this *very special* way.

So I don’t deny that it was gross and bizarre but I think of this scene – at certain monthly intervals – and consider it from her perspective. She seemed to like it. He seemed to like it. It went from dubcon to consensual in about 3 seconds… and she seemed empty afterwards?? He actually might have saved her a few $ on feminine products?? SUCH A GENTLEMAN.

More specifically, we don’t get alot of detail about it as being different from the blood they consume anyway, but I would think it would absolutely be a different experience, and hey, maybe there are foodie-vampires who prefer it?

Hi, I’m kinda new to that fandom and not very far into the books. Can I ask why we don’t talk about Dora?

I think I can guess who you are! You really like looking for buttons to push, don’t you? Very Lestat of you ;] I won’t tell.

It’s not a fandom law that we don’t talk about Dora, it’s sort of one of our inside jokes, like the fact that Lestat only writes with Wordstar even now.

I don’t reeeeeally want to spoil you, but you can probably already guess what happened between them. Dora and Lestat shared a very intimate experience in Memnoch the Devil that had not occurred in canon before, and has not happened since, but it’s a situation that anyone interested in vampires might have wondered about before. There were alot of mixed reactions to it, if you want to be spoiled, you can read my #Dora tag, or hit the jump.

based on the assumption that human blood can survive in a vampire for about the same amount of time it can in a human body, vampires would only need to feed three or four times a year (red blood cells live about 110 days on average). this would be if they completely drained all their victims.

humans can survive losing up to about 40% of their blood, which means that a vampire pushing their limits with each victim would probably need to feed 12 times a year minimum

so like once a month

Hey guess what else happens once a month involving blood

omg no

Now that’s recycling

“Actually, period blood would be really good for a vampire; it’s incredibly nutritious, because it’s supposed to feed a foetus! And it’s probably the cleanest blood in the human body. It’s sterile.” My wife contributed.

Vampire lesbians

This is an actual scene in Memnoch the Devil by Anne Rice. Lestat earns his red wings; everybody comes away happy.

(let’s not talk about Dora we don’t talk about Dora, Dora the nun, yes, that nun, who ended up feeding her monthly gift to someone… it was so awkward we don’t talk about Dora)

DORA IS HALF THE REASON THAT WE DON’T TALK ABOUT MEMNOCH

WHAT DID U EXPECT, A VISUAL OF LESTAT AND DORA UNDER THE CUT? Ew no.
