Ever wanted to just smack both your son and his partner Louis when they get into their tiffs? ;3

viaticumforthemarquise:

Lestat and Louis have a history between them that has nothing to do with me. Frankly, the only way in which it effects me is the shadow of distrust it casts upon Louis in regards to my son’s well-being and emotional stability.

That being said, Louis is the person I trust the most with those aforementioned things.

You see my dilemma.

Bon Anniversaire.

viaticumforthemarquise:

To my son, Lestat, on this, the anniversary of his birth:

You came, unexpected, in the early stages of winter. I was in labour with you for well over ten hours, my body aching for release, exhausted and cold, shivering in sweat and tears and blood.

The nurse cleaned you off by the fire, joking that you were more mouth than face, your cries driving out the priest and my maid both. She tutted as she swaddled you, wrestling the squirming limbs into the cloth, shaking her head and gently relating to you that it was indeed snowing outside, and that you would be glad of the warmth and tightness soon.

She arched an eyebrow as I reached for you—she had nursed all of your brothers, what was so special about you?—but acquiesced after a moment and placed you in my arms, aiding me to secure you to my breast. I had never done it before, you see, and while it seemed natural in theory it was strange at first in practice.

But the moment you latched on, your eyes drifting closed, something happened to me.

Something changed. I wish… I wish I had words for it. It feels awkward and fumbling to try to describe what it was, that moment, but the alien feeling suddenly fell away. Reality shifted and the world blurred before righting itself.

One moment, I was a woman. In pain, desperation, frustration and anger.

The next, I was a mother. And you were there, a warm bundle in my arms.

Could I know that nothing would be the same again?

Tanti auguri, mio figlio. Ti amo.

^Accurate: Lestat being more mouth than face, and driving priests away since his birth.

[I know you’re busy as hell right now with real life stuff so I just want to send you some virtual hugs and thank you for making all of the hilarious memes and graphics. They make me laugh so hard. <3]

omg thank u! Much appreciated. Notes like these give me such joy.

If you are interested in where I’ve been, hit the jump…

I started a new job 2 weeks ago… the lead up to it was a month of difficulty, because I had to complete the interview process for the new place (3 interviews!), train my replacement, and tie up loose ends at my old job. Needless to say there were alot of unpaid late nights and I was too exhausted to do much fandom.
And then, of course, Prince Lestat dropped. So I’ve been trying to read that slowly and painfully, to comb out little gems. There are bits and lines here and there that are actually good. I’ll be pulling them and sharing them at some point. If you guys think that entire book is a trainwreck, you’re not wrong, but I play the Devil’s Advocate about EVERYTHING, so this is included. I do see little glimmers of the Lestat we know and love in there… I’ll be sharing those bits when I can do so.
Along those lines, I’m thinking of starting a new Dreamwidth account purely for my thoughts on PL and any other new books in the series… and I’ll link to new posts there. I owe you guys recaps of my PL read.
Ya, so that’s my story! Thought you might want to know what happened to me. I still need to figure out a balance between fandom and RL. It’ll happen.
