Selina by Elicia Donze. Drawn in PS. This is a portrait of my sister as Catwoman that I drew for her as a gift. Please do not remove caption.

[Caption: A realistic digital painting of Selina Kyle aka Catwoman. Portrait is from the waist up. Selina is wearing a black PVC catsuit, a matching black skull cap with cat ears, large black goggles resting atop her head, eyeliner, and bold red lipstick. She’s gazing upward and smiling. Vivid green light glows from her right. The background is deep blue with a disc of bright blue framing Selina’s head.]

Hey all,

I don’t normally do this, sorry for the interruption, this is Not VC related.

One of the best artists I’ve ever seen, @eliciadonze, is getting an enormous amount of hate, both on anon and off. They have tried to block the hate but it is relentless (they posted a few examples, see under the cut). It seems like it has escalated recently.

The best response to this right now is to drown out the hate in positivity, please check out their archive and like/reblog their beautiful art! I’ll be doing that momentarily. Or, send them kind messages. Please do not attempt to give advice. Kind words are a salve to help this artist heal from the cruelty of these anons.

(If the artist wants me to revise/delete this post, I will do so. I just felt that I might try to help by rallying some positivity).

Warning, these messages are very disgusting and cruel. I include them bc the artist had posted them so that we could see just a tiny sample of what they get on a REGULAR basis. I’m not doing this bc the artist is talented (they ARE!), but because there is absolutely NO REASON EVER to send this kind of vitriol.

I have so many problems with Mel Gibson’s Hamlet, but the fact that he plays “get thee to a nunnery” as a warning to Ophelia that shit’s about to go down is so fantastic and effective.

Like why do productions insist on the abusive brothel connotation when it’s infinitely more powerful and gut-wrenching delivered as Hamlet trying to take care of Ophelia without giving himself away.

Reblogging myself to say that I saw a live Hamlet production the other day that did Gibon’s interpretation of the nunnery scene and the audience nearly cried it was such a good, emotionally moving, and logical interpretation of the scene.

Destroy Fuckboy Nunnery Interpretation 2K17.

I read Olivier as doing the same thing. He performs Fuckboy Nunnery Interpretation(™ @dark-haired-hamlet) loudly and passionately for the listeners he knows are there… and then kneels down and all but strokes Ophelia’s hair and very gently, with tears in his voice, repeats: “To a nunnery, go,” and I dissolve. Updated with link to conclusion of scene because godddd Laurence Olivier.

YES OKAY and I HATE Olivier’s Hamlet (just…don’t get me started) but that line is always SO POWERFUL.

Honestly, if I was directing, with my love of the “eyes of Elsinore are watching” interpretation, hamlet in this scene would be loudly yelling his misogynistic threats so that Polonius & Claudius can hear, but then switching from them into a soft voice that they cannot hear, trying to tell Ophelia – “leave! We’re in danger here, this is a poisonous place. They’re watching. Get thee to a nunnery!” and then returning again. The two “views” of hamlet’s insanity almost.

It brings a whole new dynamic to the scene and element of hamlet’s character…makes both of the characters more human and highlights the perilous position they’re both in – pawns in a game that is trying to manipulate them towards the players’ own ends.

Friendly reminder that fan-made content (fanart, fanfic, fanvids, etc) are:

  • extremely time consuming. Remember someone actually took time out of their life to create that, time they could’ve used to, idk, sleep, for example
  • entertainment you’re consuming for free. I can’t stress this enough: you’re enjoying someone else’s craft for free. You paid exactly zero money to look at/read/watch it.
  • S H A R E D  with you, not made for you. This is the most important point: someone created that, put it online and you found it. No one forced you to consume that fanwork, you C H O S E  to do it.

Whenever you feel like leaving a mean comment, anonymous hate or make a ~clever post about how ‘lol look at all of these overused tropes every fic writer crams into their fics’ remember you’re being a dick to someone who shared their work with you. You’re not being funny, you’re not being edgy, you’re not being brave for calling something out – you’re being a dick.

The Vampire Lestat (Anne Rice)

I think I draw everybody too young,,,maybe?

I loooove this part of the book, with Armand reading the books and then tossing them around, I don’t know why C:

On other notes my cellphone died and I was listening to  “The Vampire Lestat” on it, so I will have to “actually” read the book ( I own this one, but is just that i love to listen audiobooks while I am drawing)

I want draw Armand and Louis next, I am thinking of that part at the end of “the interview with the vampire" when Louis doesn’t talk much and Armand kind of, just hang around whith him… Also cause I wanna try to change the hair of my Louis design to make him a bit more canon
