hi! this actually gave me a bit of a fright because i didn’t see that tag and thought it might mean that they were actually stealing my work – but it looks to me like they’re just saying it looks like a different character from a fandom of their own? which i’m fine with.
thank you very much for looking out for me! but i don’t think in this case they’re actually stealing my work. i don’t mind if a different meaning is assigned to it by other people once it’s left my hands so long as it’s not harmful or offensive or anything.

I have been aware of the delightful @gothiccharmschool for quite some time now, largely through her interactions with folk I follow here on tumblr.
What I did not know until a couple of weeks ago was that she wrote an etiquette book.
I discovered the existence of this darling and informative book at work, when I suddenly found myself holding a signed first edition paperback with her name on the cover. To say I was excited would be an understatement. (I squealed and flapped and found every coworker in the room to show the book to, then promptly borrowed it to read.)
Having now read the entirety of Gothic Charm School, I definitely recommend it to everyone.
Why? Let’s make a list.
1. It’s an actual etiquette book about Goth culture for both Goths and those who are not Goth but know or encounter Goths.
2. The writing style is both easy to read and positively charming.
3. Actual practical advice for social situations that can be applied well outside interactions with Goths. (As an autistic person who doesn’t try to hide my neurodivergence behind a neurotypical act all the time, I really like much of the advice in here. Please follow it. You’ll make me happy.)
4. Actual practical advice for everything from clothing alterations to getting candle wax out of shag carpets. Life skills, people! Everyone should know these things–one day you could be someone’s hero.
5. Learning manners is important.
6. Learning about subcultures you don’t understand is important.
7. The fantastic illustrations by the talented Pete Venters.
8. The wit and humor in this book is spot on and made me laugh aloud several times and smile a lot. On public transit. So there.
Seriously, if you’ve never thought to pick up an etiquette book, do yourself a favor and pick up this etiquette book. You won’t regret it.

My headcanon is that Hannibal is one of those vampires that was turned when he was real scraggly so he has to shave and cut his hair every night because it grows back really fast and he hates it until Will happens and Will loves scraggly Hannibal :33
Also Hannibal is definitely one of those creepo vamps that trims all a person’s body hair before they turn them and Will is basically pissed at Hannibal forever that he can’t grow his beard ever again

Hey everyone! Patreon will begin processing payments for my first group of funders on March 1st, so I just wanted to give a little report on this month’s work!

I really really want to draw this coffee shop AU! But I realized that’s a lot of Hannigram and not a lot of Johnlock, so I’ve also started working ahead on a vampire AU Johnlock comic that I’m considering releasing alongside the Hannigram one. I’m going to work like crazy this month to try to get all this stuff done as far in advance as possible!
Also, I wanted to give an extra thank you to my first funders, so if your payment is cleared for March, you’ll be getting a Thank You card in the mail! This is only for the first group of patrons; I won’t be sending out this card again!
Finally, I want to talk a little about the future of this Patreon.
I’ve done some number crunching and I’ve determined that if I can reach a monthly goal of $3000 in completed payments, this Patreon will be sustainable. As most of you know, I’m attempting to do this full time, since there is no way I’d be able to run a Patreon with a regular job, so this and a small amount of freelance work are all I have right now to make a living.
I’ve given myself a time limit for this whole project, and so I’ve decided if I can’t hit that number by April 1st, then I will start to scale back or possibly shut down this Patreon and start looking for a full time position elsewhere.
So if you can fund me, even just $1 or $2 a month, it will go a long way
towards helping me reach the goal and keeping this Patreon running! This content is not just a reward for funders; they are literally paying me to make this stuff, and if I can’t make enough to live from making it, then I have to do something else.
I already have a lot of hope though; this Patreon already exceeded my expectations and I wouldn’t even be pushing into a second month if I didn’t think it had a chance. I’ll do my best this month to make it happen! Thank you so much to my funders for liking my work and helping me make more of it, and I hope we can keep doing this for a long long time!
