I don’t have an opinion on any of these, could work! She seems a little young to play Gabrielle, but it could work.
I remember that @gingerhairedimmortal-archived, an Armand RPer, had used Caleb Landry Jones as a face claim, so you might want to check out their archive for more on that.
So I got these messages in my inbox and cropped out the person’s name to protect the innocent.
Let’s hope this is an April Fool’s day joke, bc if so, wow, everyone involved got us. But…
^Bieberstat. Nightmare material :[
I feel like as an April Fool’s joke this goes kinda too far for the reasons the first message points out. It’s really bad taste (especially the queer erasure) too put it very gently, IMO 😦
Dude, since I don’t count movie!QOTD (yes I was excited about it when it was announced, and when it was filming, but then… not so into it when I saw it), I’ve been waiting since ‘94 for another adaptation, so I’m just sitting here like:
But every time AR posts about it, yeah, I still get at least a little excited bc I am easy to please and it’s difficult to disappoint me. CAUTIOUSLY OPTIMISTIC ALWAYS.
As far as I know, yes, the movie was cancelled. But AR has the rights to VC now and is developing just the TV series for now. She and Chris had written the script for a movie, so they still have that if they want to do a TV series leading into a movie. The X-Files was a TV series that had two movies and then went back to being a TV series much later.
[X] Anon, looking at her question, I really don’t think this shows a lack of care for her characters, it shows AR looking for intriguing ways to tell these stories and seeking feedback on her ideas.
Lestat did compare Nicki and Louis, and there are similarities and differences, I think AR was just curious about it as an idea… I’m sure this has been done in live theatre at some point, casting one actor for 2 (or more) roles in a given production. She did say she’d want a talented, versatile actor who could create each role distinctively.
But yeah, I personally would prefer they were separate actors rather than introduce the idea that Louis was merely Nicolas in disguise or something weird like that.*
Hey, at least she’s listening to the fandom! We have to give her credit for that. Not every idea is going to be a great one, and we’re fortunate that even when we shoot her down, she keeps brainstorming, unfazed by the negative reactions she might get *u* I think that shows enormous character on her part, especially considering how she USED to react to negative reactions or even moderately critical reviews of her work.
*
… I would, however, accept a Claudia who was played by the same actress who plays Lestat’s little sister (presumably a sister, the mysterious unnamed 8th de Lioncourt!) bc that could have super adorable and haunting potential!
FOR REAL?? My gut reaction is NO. Also Anne can you please spell it Nicolas w/o the H? Plz? *cries*
^This person makes a good point but… idk, Louis and Nicki are not the same. I feel like it would seem too much like “Louis” is trying to trick Lestat, a weird consideration I’d rather not have introduced.
Well, not “sex” in the way we usually think of it. Armand did bite Lestat and drink from him in The Vampire Armand, when Lestat was in a coma in the chapel of a former convent (St. Elizabeth’s) in NOLA (even in that unconscious state, he had been defending himself, but allowed Armand that brief intimacy).
According to AR, blood sharing is the Ricean vampiry equivalent of sex:
It’s described as being more intimate than human sex, feeding and being fed from is not just about the physical liquid, it’s an all-consuming experience.
When things seem to be accepted as canon/fanon, we get a little playful with word usage… if blood sharing = sex, then we sometimes just use the word “sex” when it doesn’t mean the penetrative sex we usually associate with the word for humans. Keep in mind that there are humans in relationships who are unable (or do not want) to experience genitally-penetrative sex, and they can still be sexually intimate with each other in other ways. So it’s partly in how you define sex and intimacy.
I’m not sure if this is as debatable of a topic as she claims it is, but I thought this was interesting for those who have read, or are reading, Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis. @i-want-my-iwtv
I don’t really need to cut this or do a spoiler alert, since AR is now telling us this isn’t the definitive answer for what Memnoch is, but I’ll do a cut just in case.
From PLROA, Lestat’s POV:
^I didn’t know this was even a debate, but Magnus says this pretty definitively, he even claims to have escaped Memnoch’s realm. So… should be interesting to see what AR does with Memnoch. I almost feel like she’s hanging onto him to spite everyone who gave Memnoch the Devil bad reviews way back when, but for whatever reason, I think she may be setting him up as a major player in the next book: (Is this Kapetria narrating? I think so…)
