Hey! :) Are you going to continue the last drop or is it finished?

♥u♥ You’re so sweet to ask! @wicked-felina (aka Rebness) look look they want more!

(You’re the same person or another a second lovely reader, bc I saw that we recently got a comment on it over on AO3 asking for moooore, and I haven’t had a chance to log in over there and r e s p o n d like a Proper Ficwriter ought to… and I am very touched that anyone wants more…)

SO! The Last Drop is technically a few scenes that didn’t fit into the main story which was Signature Blend, so if you haven’t read that, it’s the same AU ‘verse. We have ideas for a few more chapters for the Last Drop, so if I ever break through my writer’s block *cries*, you’ll have those and more ideas that are in the works with my awesome collaborator <333

I kick my muse into gear bc the @vcsecretgifts exchange WILL BE HAPPENING and I’ll be participating!

I love ideas, and story tropes, and headcanons. But what I really love is the fanworks that explore these things. The idea, the trope, the headcanon…those alone don’t give the work value, for me. What I love is your unique perspective.

I would never tell the story the way you would. We all have completely different lives and experiences and values. You’ll think of things I’d never think of, and beyond that, you have skills I don’t have. Your craft has developed differently. The way you structure your story or render your art…it’s unique to you. No one else can do it your way.

I love seeing creators leverage their individual skills, the culmination of their lives up to the point of creation, to bring forth a wholly unique work.

It doesn’t matter to me if there are 500 bedsharing fics. I’ll read yours because it’s yours. It doesn’t matter if a thousand people have drawn a bridal carry. Yours will delight me because it will show me you.

You don’t need to have a completely unique idea. That’s impossible. What you need to do is put the effort into developing it and creating a finished work. That work will be yours, a work only you could have made, regardless of the original idea.

“There’s already a fic about…” Doesn’t matter. There isn’t already your fic about it.

Show me your art. Show me your craft. Create something.

mmkay, so I drew this like a year ago lightly based off this one post I made awhile back—obvi (or maybe not so obvi, not sure!), it’s cis-swapped Lestat and Louis featuring some crappy symbolism bc louis was no damn angel before lestat turned him, but still, it was what I was feeling at the time~

Also, the fic series recommended to me in that post (by anton-mordrid, called To Die as Lovers May) is very thoughtfully written, drama-filled as our vampires are known to be, and an engaging read, if it’s your cup of tea! Although, it does contain triggering content, so please proceed with caution and read the tags if you haven’t read it and would like to. I enjoyed it especially! I love seeing this trope be experimented with ❤

posting this because I found it rotting and forgotten in some sketch-box I have, and because I haven’t posted any art since inktober ended c:

There are a couple of things about current shipping culture that confuse me.

1. The focus on whether or not a pairing will become canon as a reason people should ship something or not.  Do you not understand what the “transformative” part of “transformative works” means?”

2. This idea that saying “I ship that” means “I think that, as presented in canon, this is a perfect, healthy relationship that everyone should model their relationship after.”

Sometimes shipping something does mean that.  Sometimes shipping something means “Person A is a trash bag who doesn’t deserve person B but I would love to explore how Person A might grow to deserve Person B.” Sometimes it means “I want these characters to live together forever in a conflict free domestic AU.”  Sometimes it means “I want Person A to forever pine after Person B.  Nothing is beautiful and everything hurts.”  And sometimes it just means you like their faces and want to see Person A and Person B bone in various configurations and universes.

Listen to your parents, kids.

This really should be one of a handful of Public Service Announcements randomly and chronically inserted into one’s dash.

Hell man sometimes it means “these two are TERRIBLE and I want to watch them burn like a catastrophic forest fire as a proxy for all the shit I don’t actually want in real life (like to light my own apartment on fire and scream) and then laugh at the destruction at the end.”

Shipping is such a multilayered thing too.

You can ship characters for happily ever afters, sure, you can ship them for tragically-then-happily, you can ship two or three or four or more, you can ship endless combinations of personality types and relationship dynamics

but you can also ship characters under very specific circumstances, or for a certain period of their life but not for all of it, or only in a certain universe. You might say “I ship these characters” and what you mean is you think they are fascinating together and could have a story together. That story could be any kind of story.

Sometimes it means you want them together for the rest of their lives. Sometimes it means something different than that.

I don’t know about you, but for me, “I ship it” means “There is a story in this ship and I am interested in that story.”

for me, “I ship it” means “There is a story in this ship and I am interested in that story.”

Thank you for articulating this. Yes. Exactly.

#not all ships are what i think a good rship looks like #but there’s a story there

when i forget to log into ao3 and i have to click proceed to see an adult fic, i actually get a kick out of it. like i am an old timey queen and my bard is apologetic: “gentle lady, dicks doth touch in this next ballad. would you prefer another?” and i give him a gesture of command like, “nay, you may proceed, minstrel. bring forth the tale of dicks”

Okay but honestly Louis’ favorite modern holiday really is Halloween because he just fucking loves interacting with all the little kids who come up to his door for trick or treating. Like, I’m sure he and Lestat own a home in the suburbs somewhere, and Louis makes sure to buy hella candy (and like, the good candy too- not the cheap ass off-brand kind). He can obviously tell which kids are malnourished, and so he sometimes will give them apples or those little “uncrustables” PB&J sandwiches and send them on their way. The little kids all love his house, and stop there every year- Louis remembers all of them, and enjoys watching them grow each year. For the older kids, he’ll sometimes smile just a little too widely to watch them run from his door, shoving one another wile shouting “Told you so!” or “He’s real!” or “What the hell!” Still, there are loads of kids who he’s handed candy to for over a decade, and as they reach high school, he slowly begins to realize that this might be the last year he sees them- the last year before they become “too cool” to go trick or treating. But every year, he meets a new generation as well, and every now and then he’ll be utterly shocked to find that some of the children he gave candy to all those years ago have grown up and had their own children, and are now on his doorstep with a small child clinging to their leg.

Needless to say, it’s rewarding. The one night of the year that he is a true member of his beloved New Orleans community.

Like, I understand that Louis de Pointe du Lac is a grump and a buzzkill most of the time but he really does love kids- mostly because he misses his own.

I wrote a fic based on this post if anyone is interested 🙂

BRB SCREAMING omg this is the cutest fucking thing and the last line killed me aaahhhh 10/10!!!
