Look what I found! Only got one floorplan, but added guesses as to room assignment anyways ;D

K, the tub is not terribly romantic, but doesn’t it look very coffin-ish? And probably not big enough for two people… siiiigh….

I’m revising the room assignment slightly bc I’ve been there and Louis needs his own actual room:

^I’m sorry that there are rooms designated as “slave quarters,” that’s not my captioning, that’s what the floor plan had written on it. That may be part of why I don’t see the floor plan hosted on the Gallier House website link that I had up there, but I don’t know.

The Mayfair House: Anne Rice’s former New Orleans home is back on the market again, as per this Curbed.com article, from which I’ve selected some photos. This is the house that inspired the Mayfair witches’ haunted family home…

Man, you have to like, stop living in New Orleans. I searched the weather there out of curiosity and holy shit, it’s so humid and hot, like I actually wanna know how did Lou manage to set on fire so many things with that much humidity. I get the whole cultural background thing and it’s really pretty, but dude, pls. You have curly hair. And don’t come to me with any vampiric shit, humidity and curly/wavy hair DON’T MIX. Also, have a happy birthday, stay away from the candles.

♠(Louis) Mais, oui, fire burns even in humid places. Where there’s a will, there’s a way, as they say. Lestat thanks you for the birthday wishes, by the way, and we did have candles, and no one was injured. It’s insulting that people have this perception that I burn things accidentally, believe me, it’s almost never an accident. Or perhaps they are aware that’s it’s done on purpose…

It isn’t humid here year-round, but yes, we love the heat, we love the flora and fauna that love the heat, many things are different, more sultry, in the dead heat of summer. Although I do visit other places, I wouldn’t trade New Orleans as my true home for anywhere else on earth.

As for my hair and the humidity, well, even as a mortal my hair was not very affected by the elements, and it isn’t now. My sister and mother on the other hand, they were always at war with the damp air during the summer months. It was a source of great amusement for my brother and I.

Hey there! I’m in NOLA for the weekend and was curious if you knew any good landmarks to visit in relation to our beloved books. I’m on mobile so I can’t search, sorry if this has been asked!

I do! I’m actually planning on making a better post about it, but for now, since I’m on mobile, all I can give you is:

Gallier House is the flat AR modeled the Rue Royale home of Louis, Lestat, and Claudia. It’s a historic location and they give tours there. Take one! See the Master bedroom! See Claudia’s room!

AR used to live in the garden district. 1239 First St. There is a little plaque about her there now.

Near AR’s garden dist. home is Lafayette Cemetary No. 1. There was a scene or two in IWTV that took place there, but it closes at sunset.

In movie!IWTV, Lestat watches Claudia kill someone right near the Cabildo in Jackson Square.

I think Louis kills a priest in book!IWTV in the St. Louis cathedral in Jackson Square.

Pointe du Lac plantation was based on Oak Alley plantation. They give tours there. Movie!IWTV was filmed there, too. Destreham plantation was also in movie!IWTV for Pointe du Lac plantation.
