Louis do you like Lana del Rey’s music? She’s melancholic, elegant and gorgeous like you. You two could be friends and hang out in rainy nights to recite Lord Byron’s poetry.

♠ A few of her songs are indeed hauntingly beautiful, a favorite of mine is Terrence Loves You. It’s on a disc Lestat made for me, fittingly titled “Songs to Rot with Poetry By.” It’s a prized possession.

Would I want to meet this songstress? I have few mortal friends and they are not celebrities. I’m quite satisfied to have her lovely voice as a gentle accompaniment to my more introverted pursuits. Her music achieves a surreal effect, perhaps she has already befriended supernatural creatures.

hello! i’ve been following your blog for some time and you seem deadly competent. i’m drawing a portrait of Claudia and i don’t know her eye color. every information i can find contradicts informations from other sources, and unfortunately, my books are in library. can you remember what color her eyes were? i think i am desperate :))

Long-time follower, awww thanks *u*

[^We barely get to see her glove in this shot, white lace/fishnet, very cool, so I ‘shopped 2 stills together to capture her hand and her expression here <3]

You know, I didn’t realize this was a question until I went into book!IWTV and started skimming w/ my *~deadly competency~* (I like that!) to answer you.

The short answer: It looks like it’s Louis’ fault for saying her eyes are violet ONCE, just once, during IWTV. So I’d say that was a trick of the light in that scene, or smtg, bc Lestat and Jesse say Claudia’s eyes are/were blue.

They don’t specify what kind of blue, though.

I headcanon Claudia’s eyes as being blue. Specifically, I would say a light blue. Most fanartists make them varied shades of blue, but usually not dark blue, and not blue-green.

IIRC, her eye color isn’t really elaborated on, but her eyes are often described as being “liquid,” or absorbing the light in the area, so do with that information what you will.

Here’s one of the more memorable examples of her eyes being described, but not by their color (Louis in IWTV again):

I turned around and saw in the light from the street her eyes, like two dark flames in her white face. A doll from whom someone had cruelly ripped the eyes and replaced them with a demonic fire.

^Dark flames? And blue? IDK but I’d go with that.

Hit the jump for a few canon quotes about her eye color.

A) Blue eyes:

“ `It was something hurried,’ I said, trying now to meet her eyes. How perfectly, coldly blue they were. How earnest.

^This is Louis talking about Claudia’s eyes when he’s trying to explain what making love was like, from IWTV.

The child moved into the light from the window as she came towards Jesse, and the light struck her blue eyes, her rounded cheeks, her soft naked little arms.

^This is Jesse talking about ghost!Claudia in QOTD, but then that’s a ghost… so idk if you count that.

I saw Claudia quite vividly… a tiny oval portrait on porcelain – golden hair, blue eyes. Something fierce and true in the expression, in spite of the saccharine colors and the oval frame.

^Lestat talking about the locket w/ Claudia’s portrait in TOBT, which he had stolen from her dead mom bc hey, you can’t take it w/ you!

B) Violet eyes:

” `But is there no crime amongst you, no cardinal crime?’ Claudia asked. Her violet eyes seemed fixed on me, even in the mirror, as I stood with my back to her.

^Later in IWTV, Louis says her eyes are violet, but it’s only on one page, and, IIRC, Lestat never describes her eyes are violet… I can’t explain that but it seems like mistake, or it was a trick of the lighting, idk!

I saw about ask about Armand and wanted to put in my input bc why not? I always had a head canon that Armand was agender and androgynous. What are your opinions?

It’s a valid opinion, Armand being agender and androgynous…

image

[^X so this is IWTV!Denis bc I admit that as much as I adore Antonio’s Armand for my own reasons, Denis looked more like canon Armand right down to the impassive expression.]

We have to look at those words first. “Because the language of gender is still evolving, a lack of consensus on terms and definitions means it is up to the individual person to decide how to define themselves.” [X] My personal understanding of ‘agender’ is someone who is neither masculine nor feminine internally, and, to a variable extent, neither masculine nor feminine externally, either. A lack of the gender binary altogether.

‘Androgynous,’ however, I understand as being “partly male and partly female in appearance.” – more external. I see ‘androgynous’ as someone who may be perceived as both externally, or able to pass for either gender to a variable extent.

In TVA, David tells Armand “You’re sweet, boylike and pretty as a girl.” Mortal Armand is amused that potential buyers thought he was a girl, but then it pisses him off when Allesandra admires his beauty: “ ‘…a fairy’s child planted by moonlight in a milkmaid’s cradle to thrall the
world with his girlish gaze and manly whisper.’ Her flattery enraged me…”

So #your headcanon may vary, but I headcanon Armand as being capable of passing as a girl (and sometimes pushing at that envelope for his own purposes), but he’s very satisfied in his own masculinity. It doesn’t seem to be something he ever addressed or was ever confused about in canon, other than the fact that sometimes it angers him when he’s perceived as feminine, and at other times, he’s used it to his advantage.

^I guess that counts as Armand being androgynous, but not agender.

How many ‘fans’ say interview with A vampire rather than THE?

FAR TOO MANY. But I can’t be all that annoyed at them bc I think it might have been translated that way in some languages. Other things have been lost in translation or changed, and that’s affected ppl’s headcanons.

@cloudsinvenice pulled a little prank awhile back, tho, and made a press release to go with it! It looks pretty legit!

The Tale of the Body Thief

“Judge me not for my stupidity.” —Lestat de Lioncourt.

“Judge me not for my stupidity,” I implored him. I told him again of my ordeal in the Gobi, of my strange conversations with David, and David’s vision in the Paris cafe. “I was in a state of desperation when I did this. You know why I did it. I don’t have to tell you. But now, it must be undone.”

[The regeneration by JakezDaniel]

He also made Gabrielle, The Best Vampire Ever so i think that makes up for the fussy eater and the crimes against nature. Though I guess Gabrielle also made Lestat…

She is pretty self-made as a vampire, tho; she hit the ground running biting, didn’t let him teach her very much! In fact, it’s his own experience as an orphaned fledgling, and w/ Gabrielle as his first, that probably convinced him that he didn’t need to teach his later fledglings all that much, that they could learn things on their own for the most part.

Lestat and Gabrielle have a complicated relationship… His Oedipus is showing…
