I feel like, yes, Prince Lestat was not the best VC, but also, some bits of it were actually still good, I can’t dismiss it in its entirety… and I’m hoping you can make Rose a more embraceable character. No pressure, or anything! hahaha.
So, my cousin and I were talking about the first five VC books (I just recently got her into them and she loves them) and she noticed my copy of Prince Lestat sitting next to me. She reached for it like ‘oh, is that the new book? i should give it a read’ and I SLAPPED it out of her hand like a zookeeper spanking a monkey. I told her ‘NO! IF YOU LOVE THE VAMPIRE CHRONICLES AND CALL YOURSELF A FAN YOU WILL NOT EVER EVER READ THAT BOOK!’ and she just looked at me like I put the fear of god in her and basically promised to never it.
I actually still haven’t finished PL myself, preferring to burrow into fanfic when I have time to sit and read. I should really finish it tho bc I’m about 60% through, and I have allowed myself to be spoiled somewhat (I know that they exist) but I don’t actually know what happens with Vikki and Rosalita Viktor and Rose just yet.
I don’t know why they exist but my GUESS is that alot of that book is AR’s response to questions she’s sick and tired of hearing at Q&A’s over the years.

Why cants the vampires has enjoyable sex? They shoulds be able to has sex bc an asexual relationship is impossible.

I’ll be putting the bulk of this under a ‘Read More’ for spoilers. So HERE IS YOUR MASSIVE SPOILER ALERT WARNING, SPOILERS AHEAD, IF YOU ARE SEATED IN THE FIRST FEW ROWS YOU WILL BE SPOILED, ETC. That said, my overall reaction to the book was fairly disappointed. After posting this I will be turning off my anonymous asks because after what happened with the Pandora paper mâchè/decoupage incident I know Anne Rice fans are not to be trusted. I am happy to entertain any polite discussion, and I am posting this to hopefully save other longtime fans who might be on the fence the time and the money. Without further ado here is my summation and reactions to the fuckery that is Prince Lestat. Trigger warning for mentions of rape, abuse, mutilation, and murder.
