replied to your post “Lestats favorite flavor is Louis oh god that’s actually I’m not…”

Sometimes I wish I didn’t follow you already just so I could follow you again! I love your blog!!

I want to thank you for this blog. It’s a real ray of, um, moonlight in the dark night.

You’re so welcome! What a lovely poetic thing to tell me ❤ A ray of moonlight is harder to find than a ray of sunshine ;]

I try to make the blog I would have wanted to find when I was 15 and couldn’t find the fanworks, the screencaps, the whole fandom experience. So far so good ;]

So I saw on of your post and one of your questions was what is your favorite scene in IWTV and to me that’s a very hard question to answer. I have tons of favorite scenes and I guess my favorite scene would have to be Claudia sharing a coffin with Louis. So cute. 😏

It’s definitely one of the sweetest and cutest moments in the whole story.

Also, there’s this parallel in that Claudia is cradling a doll against her, and Louis is cradling his doll (Claudia herself) against him. Claudia’s and the doll’s face are similar in their direction. Claudia has her cheek in the doll’s hair, and her hand in Louis’ hair, and Louis has his lips in Claudia’s hair. It’s all very cuddly *u*

Someone got it tattooed on them!

More melancholy nonsense after the jump.

In movie!IWTV, the first night Louis spends without Claudia since her turning is the night the Theatre des Vampires separates them, and beats him up. It’s one week after he turned Madeleine, so he may have been sharing his coffin with Madeleine, or alone, but just one week later, he spends the day locked in a metal coffin upside down with no cushioning, stripped of most of his usual comforts ;A;

Children sleep with dolls/stuffed animals for a feeling of safety, protective of their comfort object but also feeling like it can protect them back. Kids sometimes do sleep with their parents when they’re very young (that old, “Mommy I had a nightmare!” thing). This is where the mommy!Louis fanon comes from.

I like the idea that Louis and Claudia were protective and nurturing to each other in a way that Lestat couldn’t be at that time.

I hate to be “that” person, but how do you pronounce: Amadeo, Khayman, Makare, Maharet, and Enkil?

i-want-my-iwtv:

No, that’s not being “that” person at all! What IS being “that” person is being all overly offended at someone else’s pronunciation, so before I answer I’ll just remind y’all that these are fictional characters, there’s no right way to pronounce them, I don’t care if you have a master’s degree in Etymology and/or Linguistics, named your pet/child after them, have a friend with the same name, even if you are the creator of the series, anyone is free to pronounce these names however they want.

Amadeo- “ah-mah-DAY-oh” or “ah-MAD-eeyo,” I sorta use both.

Khayman- “Kay-men”

Mekare- “mee-CARE” or “mek-ARRAY,” personally, I prefer the first option.

Maharet-  “maha-RET” (emphasis on the last syllable like “Margaret”), or “MAH-harret” (emphasis on the first syllable), or “muh-HAH-ret” (emphasis on the second syllable). Personally, I prefer the last option.

(redhairedtwin may disagree with me on the twins, she can add her two cents if she wants to do so.)

BONUS… hit the jump.

Ah! godsize reminded me that I forgot Enkil! So sorries!

Enkil- “en-KILL” or “ON-keel”

Also, I adore your blog! <3 It was what finally pushed me to stop staring at the VC books on my shelf and actually pick them up and order some more. So thank you and stay awesome! :)

Aw thank u so much! ♥u♥

Please keep us posted on your thoughts as u progress, altho we all love these stories, we can never quite recapture the thoughts and feels we had when we first read them. And I’m telling you, you will probably enjoy my crazy more when you know the series better.

Note also: I’m tagging this #Free VC Advertising, which is my new tag for posts in which ppl tell me they’re reading/buying the VC bc they were inspired to do so by my blog. This will help protect the blog in the event that *someone* wants to take it down (on the grounds that it’s detrimental to the sales of the VC).

If people are inspired by this blog enough to read/buy the books, well, then I’d say it’s doing the exact opposite, it’s PROMOTING the series!

Thank you for making that what’s good meme you’re a god among mortals and I love you

You’re so welcome! Basically my rubric for whether I make a memeything/video/whatever or not is “Would this make 15 y.o. me laugh? Does this make current!me laugh? If Yes –> #do the thing.”

I am pretty sure I’m going to cry because of that response

♛ I’m going to cry over your crying, we’re going to cause a damn flood with all these tears! Am I getting too soft in my old age? Or actually getting wiser?

image

Unlike you, I will actually ruin my clothes if I cry on them, I have to go change into Crying Time Clothes… Then Louis will start asking why I’m crying and it all gets very involved and emotional. And possibly physically messy.

Wait, maybe I DO want that… Can’t play that card too often or he’ll catch on to it.

Just wanted to say hello and that this is the coolest blog on the internet, keep it up! I’ve always loved lestat so much, but louis is awesome too!

awww thank u Coolest blog on the internet- whut? omg you like me, you really like me! (that is a Sally Field reference for you youngsters) Come off anon and say that to mah face, figuratively ❤

^Louis’ reaction to being mentioned after Lestat.

He knows he plays second-fiddle to Lestat at all times. He prefers that Lestat take the bulk of the fangirl/boy/other attentions, but we must never forget that Louis is a BAMF. He must be some kind of awesome for His Holiness the Brat Prince to love him so damn much.

poets the VC vampires read

Lestat: He cannot stand Shelley because he was dishonest in his romanticism, but Byron, who never pretended to be anything other than what he was both in his verse and in his life he adores. Keats was akin to Apollo reborn into innocence; and he reads all the French Symbolists except for Baudelaire. He enjoys Italian sonnets, Shakespeare, Sidney, Spencer, Skelton, and Heine.
Louis: loves Baudelaire. Pope is a favorite of his (“pray tell, Sir, whose dog are you?”), he enjoys the Graveyard Poets and their imagery of humans in terror of the dead and ghosts, its a feeling that he can’t experience anymore by vicariously. He doesn’t miss the fears of mortality though so he doesn’t have much patience with Poe, save for a handful of French translations of his work. Also enjoys Elliot’s sense of ennui.
Marius: Dante was popular drivel according him during the Roman days, but the longer time passes from the ancient days he grows to admire newer, but well structured verses, ones that focus more on creating a sensation than a narrative. He does have a taste for Rilke, however, and once gifted Armand with a copy of “Letters to a Young Poet”
Armand: Daniel introduced him to the beat poets, whom he has cultivated a great fondness for. Sapho, he reads out of a joy that he is the only one privileged with a copy of her full poems, not just fragments, that he stole from Marius’s library centuries ago, as just one of the rare documents he keeps for his private amusement with refusal to share with the world. He fancies his Theatre of Vampires to be similar to the poem “The Conqueror Worm.”
Daniel: He found a trunk of poems from the 50’s in his dad’s junk after he died and he was helping his mother clean the house out so she could downsize. Really, it them that convinced him to hit the road as a writer. One day he swears to himself that he’ll also make it through Erza Pound’s “Cantos” and gives with a grim laugh the remark that “at least thanks to Armand, I’ll have all the time in eternity to finish it”

devilsfool:

lestatdelight:

oh my god what the heck is happening someone fanmailed me saying that im violating anne rice’s copyright what the heck what what oh my god im deleting this blog bye

//Okay, babies, first of all:

We are all violating Mater’s copyright by having RP blogs. That is true. But unless you receive a C&D from Mater herself, you aren’t in any trouble.

i-want-my-iwtv can probably clear this up a bit more, as they have more knowledge of this.

But, as a fan who went through the entire “Oh God the fandom is gone because our writer is Some Crazy Bitch Who Sues Her Fans” thing, I’m pretty sure that a random person sending you fan mail doesn’t mean you are going to jail. Tumblr will delete your blog before that happens.

Anyone want to correct me on this?

People Off the Page:

I’m looking into this. I have no idea if it’s legit or not, whether that was a real Cease & Desist message Lestatdelight received. I’m researching it.

Fairly certain that everything devilsfool wrote above is correct. Tumblr can pull your blog at the request of the copyright holder. You’re not going to jail. If it’s a legit C&D, all they want is the material removed. Little do they realize that it’s been reblogged all over the damn place and downloaded, and copied and pasted into documents offline, there IS NO COMPLETE REMOVAL of a blog’s output!

I happen to care immensely about the issues of copyright, fair use, intellectual property, etc. and also about the rights of fanartists to make fanworks. Because I adore fanworks. Because I adore the fandom who creates and enjoys fanworks.

And because I make fanworks, too. If this is legit I’m actually surprised they didn’t go after me first, this blog is far more offensive than lestatdelight’s. Anyone who knows this person, please help me get in touch with them so I can get more info about the whole situation from them. If anyone receives messages like that one, requesting you take down your blog, let me know because:

We need to know if this is going to spread to all the VC RPs and fandom blogs.

Save things that you want to save. My blog is not immune. Download whatever you want, I may not be able to give warning before it’s taken down.

In the event that my blog is ever taken down, look for the tag #iwantmyiwtvRIP *cries*
