This is like the visual representation of an unfinished fanfic. You can see that it’s inspired by the original, which was the original artist’s interpretation of the depicted subject. The original artist made editorial choices in how to represent their subject, and this second artist is interpreting the interpretation with their own editing.
It’s a great way to climb into the mind of the original artist, absorbing some of their ideas, rejecting others, and an exercise in one’s own craft in that process.
