Hello again, anon that lost her shit finishing TVL! Keep us posted, I love these fresh impressions of VC bc I can never quite get mine back, that first experience of each of the books I’ve already read. And re-read. Although, I do bring smtg different to them on each re-read, as I’ve gotten older and had more of my own experiences and philosophical revisions to compare to our fave dysfunctional vampires’.

I think you put it very well. She has given us POVs from the lofty to the much less lofty. The lofty POVs appeal to ppl who enjoy that and the more modern stuff appeals to ppl who enjoy that… @annabellioncourthelped me out on a post about the voice of Louis, his POV seems to draw on older literature, and he loves to read those books, so of course he would absorb that somewhat anachronistic flavor. Louis may be deliberately making his story a little difficult to read, as he is revealing a lot but also keeping some things secret, keeping Daniel at arm’s length.

QOTD was a good collection of this bc she’s jumping characters a lot in that book, which she didn’t do in TVL and IWTV, except to have her main characters sit and listen to others tell their own stories. In those instances, we did get some variation in the POV, but again, it was through the filter of the person who later told/recorded the story for us, the readers (i.e. Lestat telling us about > Marius telling Lestat about > the Elder telling Marius about > the origin of the vampires! Check out @comixqueen‘s VC storyception!)
TVL is my fave bc Lestat. LESTAT! He does have flaws, for sure. Flaws that could spiral anyone into depression. But his lust for life overrides everything ❤
^And I think part of why we all love him (those of us that do love him) against our own better judgment is that even when he royally fracks up, he gets back up, dusts himself off, and careens into the next car.
Also, please be respectful of my blog, I would prefer if ppl do not reblog/comment on this with links to it or offers to share it. I’m sure it will be free online eventually… I just don’t want to get looped into legal trouble for sharing that kind of information, so I’ll delete the post if I see anything like that happening 😛

Ok, I really need to get that done… I CHANGED THE HEADER JUST FOR YOU, ANON! TODAY! I took out the construction signage and gave the kitty a top hat. He is so dapper now. I’d like to keep him in the new layout somewhere and just change his hat/accessorize him on a regular basis… ANYWAY CONSTRUCTION CONTINUES, behind the screen, w/o signage!
The thing is, the new layout is currently… pastel grunge? More like just pastel. all lighter colors w/ a dark font and IDK how I feel about that. I’m resisting the transition. And my webmistress demands tags on the center bottom of posts and just… I LIKE THEM ON THE SIDE. Don’t you guys prefer them on the side? Like a side of French fries!
I think I need to stick with a similar color scheme and just make the layout more easily navigable. There won’t be fancy animated buttons or anything superfluous like that.
The other obstacle(s) is that I have yet to write up this stuff (and yes, I could put temp pages up, but I’d rather unveil it all at once!):
Nav page w/ all the really good links like “cut scenes.” “For RPers.” “Fanfic.” “Fanart Request,” and analysis/critique of VC so ppl can easily find that stuff.
FAQ for stuff I am frequently asked, and you’d be surprised but I am asked similar questions alot, one common topic is the order in which the books should be read (#order of operations for VC), just as an example.
About – so I could make it perfectly clear how unofficial a VC blog this is! Idk how I’d feel about being officially affiliated or approved by AR in some way… I’d be honored but I’d also worry about how that might limit my freedom of speech/reblogging of things that are critical of VC. We’ll cross that bridge if we ever come to it, and I’ll of course let you all know.

Purely for selfish reasons, 1993 to watch the filming of Interview with the Vampire. Another selfish option: I’d love to go back and see some of my fave musicians perform. Like NIN at Lollapalooza in 1991 ;D
First thing you’d do if you won the lottery?: I’d feel obligated to figure out a good social justice cause, spend money on that… and then set up an art studio compound where ppl could come and make art all the live-long day ^_____^ Some of it might be art-therapy, like a rehab.
Fictional character you’d hang out with for a day: Y’all prolly think I’d pick Lestat… and you would be right! But other than any VC character, I’d want to hang out with Ava from Only Lovers Left Alive! She’d probably kill me lol, Eve would be a better choice, probably not as fun, tho.
