My friends joke that I’m part vampire. My family has an extra pair of canines, sun sensitivity, dark hair+pale skin. And reddish and blue hues to our eyes. I also have a keen senses and usual strength. Add in my personality and blurry family tree lol

♛I’ve picked up stray hybrids and vampires like you before and tried to adopt them, Louis never lets me keep them, so I refuse to get attached to you! *huffs*

Sometimes I feel like I am Louis, everyone is fighting over me and I just want to read a book and not burn in the sun.

Don’t forget that ppl also force him to dress up, too! Everyone fights over him and makes him dress fancy when all he wants to do is read a book and not burn in the sun.

I am sorry that I missed your birthday . happy belated birthday and I hopes you had a wonderful night .🎂🎈

♠Thank you, it’s alright. I don’t expect much, but it was memorable.

[^X  He also got an unusual candelabra.]

I read the first three books, can I go right into Prince Lestat or is there more I need to know? (I read the synopsis for every book; because I have some sensitivities to certain topics, such as the first part of the Vampire Armand). I heard that Prince Lestat is a stand alone, and the inside hook indicates such. If I could I would read the entire series but due to triggers and my eight hour school day I don’t have the time. Sorry to rant, I just want to know what’s what

Sure, go on to PL! I hope you have more of an appreciation for the main characters since you know their background. I sympathize with your time constraints.

Prince Lestat CAN be considered a stand alone, AR said herself it can be treated like that. It’s just so stand alone that I consider it very Alternate Universe. You’ll see what I mean.

*sigh* It’s so strange that ppl want to rush to PL, but I guess it’s bc it’s the currently newest VC and the upcoming book is a sequel to it.

As far as triggering elements, there are some in PL. I won’t spoil you directly but I’ll just toss in some questionnable categories of things I remember being in PL (this is not all-inclusive, I may have forgotten a few bc I read it almost 2 years ago and I can’t read it again yet):

  • An emotionally abusive relationship between a female college student and a male adult authority figure
  • Other abuse of that female college student that she suffered as a child (not sexual but physical and emotional)
  • Body horror (sort of?)
  • Gorey moments (one involving a few amputations, one involving brains, some murder bc VAMPIRES)
  • Lestat in a non-consensual blood-related attack moment (but he doesn’t get away with it unpunished)
  • Weird ghost-related happenings
  • Arson (*cough* Louis *cough*)
  • Drug-addicted parent (briefly)
  • Vampires & Science
  • A sexual situation involving Vampires & Science
  • A choir of underaged boy vampires

This isn’t so much of a question as it is a compliment. Thank you for being so sweet and accepting, and hilariously Lestat-like with others questions! I have been a fan of the books for so many years but was always so intimidated by its fan base, enjoying from the shadows, as it were. I hope I do not erroneously think it safe to come out of my hiding place (sort of…) with this comment!

Omg what a thing to say to me thank u so much! *flails* YOU ARE SO WELCOME AS ALWAYS. You’re still on anon, so you’re not risking anything, but feel free to step into the light. What have you got to lose?

[X digging up an oldie from the archive, mon dieu using Impact was still in fashion! But the sentiment is still true.

It’s especially flattering that you say I answer things in a hilariously Lestat-like way bc his positive attributes were an inspiration to me when, as a small fanged little trash kitten, I needed that so much. I feel more like myself when I’m interacting w/ ppl with some of his brand of optimism and charisma, which was not so much that I absorbed his, it was more that I recognized it was always there inside me, latent and sleeping, and needed to be reignited ;D

Plus, we all had to hide our love for this fandom in the dark ages before the internet really brought us together, and then some of us also suffered the war on fanfic. Unlike many other current fandoms, ours was crushed and couldn’t blossom until more recent years. I’m so grateful that we have these spaces now and that fandom is recognized as a more legitimate thing these days, we have more than shadowed spaces now! It’s very Lestat in TVL, drawing the Children of Darkness out into the modern world to enjoy the things that are out here to be enjoyed.

“Just remember: life – without me- would be even more unbearablewill always be one of my fave quotes bc there were times when it was very true, and currently, VC is still a positive presence for me, and it’s heartwarming to know it’s that way for others, like you, too! *hugs*

That is what I want as my legacy, just remember that I was crazy and I made you happy, and/or inspired you in at least some small way, bc that’s what VC has done for me.

Cut for sappiness…

^AU where I am Mrs. Lincoln and the rest of the fandom here is Mr. Lincoln ❤ bc that is what I want as my legacy, just remember that I was crazy and I made you happy.

I feel kind of married to this fandom and I treat it that way, like a significant other. We’re our own individual ppl but I like to think we compliment eachother; we all have our own talents to contribute, even if being an audience member for the fanworks is all some of us do.

Sometimes we fight, and there are times we disagree with canon, but we get through things regardless bc there’s a shared loyalty there and that’s a beautiful and precious thing. It’s fragile, too, and needs our commitment to survive.

BEAUTIFUL PERSON AWARD once you get this award, you’re supposed to paste it in the ask box of 8 people who deserve it. If you break the chain nothing will happen, but it’s nice to know that someone thinks you’re beautiful inside and out ✿✿✿

U SWEET THING LET ME LOVE U!

image

I’ll be sure not to break the chain <3<3<3

I don’t know if you are the one to ask but do you know if there are any ff of Lestat, Louis (and possibly the rest) reading ff about themselves? Because it would bee too meta and I love meta. Who should I ask if not you?

Ahhh… that is a tough one! They definitely like the fanart of themselves.

[^X Digging up an oldie from the archive which I have tidied up a little for ya and I would just like to mention that the above was screencapped from the ACTUAL TV screen so there is interlacing and whatever I don’t care it adds to the charm, oui/oui? but HEY it motivated me to improve my graphic skills for y’all and I DID]

The only writer that immediately comes to mind is our very own fandom treasure @gairid, who has a Through the 4th Wall, Darkly series which does something in the vein (pun intended hehehe) of what you’re looking for, feels meta. It’s mostly the characters discussing Lestat’s ghostwriter: “Really, Lestat, you need to have a talk with her. It’s getting out of hand. What sort of biographer makes everything up without the slightest regard to the truth?” *giggles*

Gonna open this up to the group and ask anyone to reblog or comment on this post if they know of fic that does this!

Cut for length.

There is another current writer I know of who does more of what you’re looking for on a regular basis BUT she doesn’t post publicly ;A; I will try to nudge her onto AO3 in your honor ;] To be honest, the interaction of the VC characters w/ fanfic of themselves is usually described as their being amused and/or creeped out, as most ppl who find out about RPF of themselves seem to be.

Lestat would be hella flattered and in fact…. he has written really shmoopy fluff of himself and Louis, which he has not-so-subtly tried to get Louis to read. Louis reads it and makes grammatical corrections and hands it back. Secretly, he’s very touched.

Louis loves the fanart but is mildly creeped out by the fandom’s fanfic of himself, partly bc he thinks the writers spend too much time glorifying his appearance, and/or he’s written out of character.

Louis: “Why do they all think I’m sunk in this, this deep depression all the time? I… do things… I go out.”

Lestat: “How much of the evening do you spend outside if I don’t drag you out?”

Louis: “Well, I have to go out to feed.”

Lestat: “And that takes, what, 30 or 40 minutes?”

Louis: “Yes, about.”

Lestat: “So you go out, on average, 35 minutes a night.”

Louis: “Depression is not defined by the lack of amount of time spent outside!”

Lestat: –

Louis: –

Lestat: –

Louis: “Shut up.”
