Claire Danes Becomes Real-Life Cinderella at the Met Gala in Glowing Fiber Optic Dress

At last night’s Met Gala, Claire Danes dazzled the red carpet in a
show-stopping ensemble, reminiscent of a futuristic Cinderella. Designed
by Zac Posen,
the gown had the glamour of classic couture, but with a glitzy
technological twist: fiber optic fabric that glowed in the dark.

Every year, New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art
hosts this black tie fundraising event—often fondly referenced as
“fashion prom"—to benefit its lauded Costume Institute, in coordination
with the opening of a new spring show. Danes’ dress was an apt
representation of this season’s theme: Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.
The 150-piece exhibition invited the exploration of “how fashion
designers are reconciling the handmade and the machine-made in the
creation of haute couture and avant-garde ready-to-wear.”

Thank you again for the cute title suggestion!

Tumblr formatting is screwing this caption up, but this fanart and caption above is by the talented @thacmis, and I have officially commissioned a Lestat-in-a-dress to go with this Louis-in-a-dress *u* so stay tuned…

Lestat de Lioncourt in a satin dress, commissioned by @i-want-my-iwtv

I love this so much, look at the care and detail @thacmis put into this (among other things, can you believe the ethereal texture on that gown?? *u*), as Lestat would say, Perfect, just perfect! I think I officially have an obsession w/ Lestat & blood in glassware. It makes him feel more civilized ;}

#claiming u in the name of our fandom

@imcrazyobsessed: here it is!

OMG Lestat would LOVE THIS DRESS! It’s very Dolce & Gabbana, and it was like, MADE FOR YOUR BODY! It’s vampiry and lovely! He would say it looks excellent for dancing and twirling.

Specifics bc FASHION: Lestat would love the gothy and whimsical arrangement of the design and colors, the gold bc GOLD (are those iridescent little beads in the design?! He would love that detailing), the brocade, the transparency of the tulle (right? Tulle? Chiffon? Organza?) but most of all he would love that it shows plenty of skin in a tasteful way. He would probably insist on your wearing a black velvet choker with it, with a little cameo or dangling stone, plus a few rings and/or a bracelet and also that you paint your nails.

apologies that he’s looking down but this is my old memeything for when he likes things and I am so thrilled for the excuse to dust it off and use it here!

P.S. New submission idea – Ask Lestat or Louis to judge your dress/outfit. Maybe I’ll offer up a few of my own dresses for their judgment…

Definitely, very Claudia! Reminds me of this, with the sheer sleeve elegance:
