SoâŠ. in 1996 I was in middle school and had a friend over and my dad âcaughtâ us watching IWTV in my room – of course it was the version that was (heavily) edited for TV but that didnât occur to him so he actually took the TV out of my room so that we couldnât watch anything else. Well I wanted to know how the damn movie ended so I convinced my mother to let me rent (on VHS, btw) the original movie (which was way more graphic than the version we had been watching).
Then, at the middle school I was attended, they let you read any book you wanted for the reading requirement as long as you read a certain number of pages per day. So Iâm in the library that was attached to the school and – whoa – IWTV! So I picked that book to read for my middle school reading requirement. And when I  was done with that I asked my mom to buy for me TVL⊠My mom was *thrilled* because I had been homeschooled for a few years and even though I whizzed through math text books, I *hated* reading and always did the bare minimum. My father was less thrilled and threw my copy of TVL in the trash several times.
So, my mother, bless her heart, calls up a local book store and asks them to put one of every Anne Rice book on hold for her – because she thinks Anne Rice ONLY wrote The Vampire Chronicles. Apparently without really looking at what she was buying, she has the book store put all the books on hold into a bag and ring them upâŠ.. and THAT is how my mother accidentally bought me smut when I was in middle school.
Iâd finished all the vampire chronicles that were out in time for TVA which came out one week before my 14th birthday in 1998 (I was gifted three copies – I probably should have thought to ask for more than just that bookâŠ).
Seeing phrases like âI was sucked into the VC obsession hellhole when I was 14â and âOnce I finished TotBT on January 22, 2012â in the same sentence make me feel positively ancient! Buuuut I couldnât be happier, of course, that there are so many new and young fans. We can always use the fresh blood. Â đ
^Yeah, it makes me feel a bit old, too, similarly, Iâd read #1-4 by 1994. #5 (Memnoch the Devil) was my first fresh one. But hey, Iâve aged like a fine wine!Â

Well, as you know #I love these kind of stories. We may be old, but I think we got to experience the VC in a unique way. Like you, I was at the age when I could yearn for a new VC book and then get excited asking for it as a birthday present or going to the bookstore to pick it up. I didnât like the feel of new hardcovers, though. Preferred the paperbacks, as they had a more friendly handfeel and pleasant scent.
Does he look like the Complaints Department to you? Complain if you must, he might answer it. You know how he feels about whining, though.Â
Itâs definitely one of the sweetest and cutest moments in the whole story.Â
Also, thereâs this parallel in that Claudia is cradling a doll against her, and Louis is cradling his doll (Claudia herself) against him. Claudiaâs and the dollâs face are similar in their direction. Claudia has her cheek in the dollâs hair, and her hand in Louisâ hair, and Louis has his lips in Claudiaâs hair. Itâs all very cuddly *u*

In movie!IWTV, the first night Louis spends without Claudia since her turning is the night the Theatre des Vampires separates them, and beats him up. Itâs one week after he turned Madeleine, so he may have been sharing his coffin with Madeleine, or alone, but just one week later, he spends the day locked in a metal coffin upside down with no cushioning, stripped of most of his usual comforts ;A;
Children sleep with dolls/stuffed animals for a feeling of safety, protective of their comfort object but also feeling like it can protect them back. Kids sometimes do sleep with their parents when theyâre very young (that old, âMommy I had a nightmare!â thing). This is where the mommy!Louis fanon comes from.
I like the idea that Louis and Claudia were protective and nurturing to each other in a way that Lestat couldnât be at that time.
Well GET CRACKALACKINâ AND #READ THE BOOK! A lot of answers will be funnier on this blog when you know more canon.
Fair warning, Lestat did not enjoy the book. He really didnât. But there was quite a bit in the book that didnât make it into the movie, and several things had to be changed, so it really behooves you to #read the book.Â

Please keep us posted on your thoughts as u progress, altho we all love these stories, we can never quite recapture the thoughts and feels we had when we first read them. And Iâm telling you, you will probably enjoy my crazy more when you know the series better.
Note also: Iâm tagging this #Free VC Advertising, which is my new tag for posts in which ppl tell me theyâre reading/buying the VC bc they were inspired to do so by my blog. This will help protect the blog in the event that *someone* wants to take it down (on the grounds that itâs detrimental to the sales of the VC).
If people are inspired by this blog enough to read/buy the books, well, then Iâd say itâs doing the exact opposite, itâs PROMOTING the series!Â

YOU MAKE A GOOD POINT, HOW THE HELL DOES LESTAT KNOW HOW TO DRIVE??? DID HE HAVE TO GO TO DRIVERSâ ED? DID HE MAKE LOUIS TEACH HIM? HOW DID LOUIS LEARN? CAN ANY OF THEM DRIVE? DAVID, GABRIELLE AND LESTAT ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT DO IN THE BOOK, OH MY GOSH I NEED TO KNOW.
Well somewhere in the series – I think TVL? – Lestat says that vampiring makes learning things much faster, he learned to read and write just by watching the transcriber do it for him long enough. Same with technology and modern inventions.
In movie!IWTV, he was watching Daniel from the backseat for at least a mile or two before they got on the bridge.
That makes more sense, but its a lot less entertaining than thinking about them wrecking their way through the cities trying to drive.

Well everyone, this is it. My favorite scene from the Interview with the Vampire movie and there are so many reasons why. Some of them are mentioned above like: how the hell does Lestat even know how to drive??? but what really gets me is that Lestat was like camping out in this guys car the whole damn movie. He was just sitting there as Louis dictated his life to Daniel and restrained himself from jumping into the room and saying âEXCUSE ME THAT IS NOT HOW IT HAPPENED LOUIS.â and then proceeding to tell the nice man the REAL story. Seriously what is going through Lestatâs head this entire scene? I donât know but I need someone to write something on it. Frankly this is one of the most ridiculous and funny scenes in the movie but for all its OOC-ness I canât say with a clear conscious that it wasnât immensely amusing to watch.
