I suppose it’s hard to nickname someone when they only have a one syllable name. And I hate when people try and give me flower nicknames. Never, ever, try and do that. I am not your little ‘rosebud’ who is ready to be ‘plucked’. Ugh, even mentioning it makes me sick.
Beej calls me doll. Bianca calls me her star. Antoine calls me dove. I’m not really sure what I’ve done to deserve these, but I’ll take them.
What about you Lestat? Do you have any nicknames for me?
Oh, and Daniel calls me Chickpea.
♛Well, a nickname isn’t always a shortening of one’s name… although I’m often called ‘Stat, which I find very amusing, as it’s also the abbreviation for statim, Latin for “immediately”, used in the medical field (have I been in hospitals and heard this called out, and thought it was someone trying to get my attention? Hmmmm? Maybe!), but I digress, this is about you, darling ❤

I don’t think I ever called you by any floral nicknames, but I completely agree with your reasons for detesting them. I don’t like being called Blondie, which Armand does to irritate me, and it raises my ire without fail EVERY TIME HE DOES IT.
When you were a little girl, I called you variations on précieux and mon bijou, do you remember?
please dont name your children after flowers (rose, daisy, lily, etc.) unless you are plantkin it is cultural appropriation

♛Usually not. Bed-related shopping is one of my favorite chores! Which happens pretty often *winks* I particularly love waterbeds, the heated water is so soothing. But CERTAIN PEOPLE are afraid of the potential water damage from a pierced waterbed, sooooo I can’t actually OWN one.
Sleeping in coffins, though, I see why it would make you feel odd, dead… I think I find it… comforting or punishing depending on my mood. It’s a comfort to be in such a small space in perfect darkness, reminiscent of going to ground, completely embraced by the earth.
I order my coffins custom – large, Italian silk lining, memory-foam mattress, and I do enjoy sharing with a loved one, you’re always invited, mon bijou ❤
Other times, when I don’t want to allow myself the luxury of sleeping in a bed… I climb into an older coffin, lined with towels, in the attic. It’s a real punishment.
For safety, and on this you might agree: a large trunk is still my most trusted place to sleep on a ship. I’ve found that mortals assume a coffin contains the dead; so regardless of vehement instruction, or loads of cash, they insist on putting it in non-passenger-accessible storage! Most irritating.
What’s the biggest tip you would give newbie vampires?

Absorb into yourself the world around you, because time will soon replace it with something else. Places shall always remain the same beneath it all, but mortal acquaintances, simple aesthetics, and the way that humanity moves within it will always die and be replaced with something else. Enjoy all that you can.

I haven’t seen any fanfic that includes the events from PL or acknowledges the events from the book, but go check out nodominion (Rose RPer), and antoineandthepiano (Antoine RPer), they both consider PL to be canon (they may have seen the fic u seek, too) 😉
Has anyone else seen fanfic that fits what duendology‘s lookin’ for? Please share w/ the whole class ^______^
//Thanks to the vcsecretgifts Secret Rose Exchange, I now know that June’s birth flower is the Rose. I previously had Rose’s birthday in early July, but now I’ve moved it to late June.
Now I have the headcanon that her mother didn’t really have another name for her, didn’t really think of one while she was pregnant, and the nurse suggested it in the hospital, telling her of the significance to June. Morningstar thought it was pretty enough, the baby plump with rosy cheeks. Rose, though she hates the comparisons people make with her to the flower, is just happy she wasn’t born in July. Otherwise her name might have been Larkspur.

//Sooo on my very stressful and not fun at all vacation I re-read Interview and TVL. I started QotD as well, but only got as far as Jesse’s introduction. Out of the series so far QotD remains my favorite. It’s masterfully put together, with each chapter/section the perfect length, all the while building proper suspense. It does perfectly what PL failed at, which is what disappoints me more about PL than any plot point.
As I read I highlighted passages [*pets my Kindle*] I found interesting/enlightening, especially since I’ve read all the VC books now and have 20/20 hindsight. Putting this under a read-more to save your dash.
