“… two wet shriveled things that had been alive, mother and daughter in one another’s arms, the murdered pair on the kitchen floor. But these two lying under the gentle rain were Madeleine and Claudia, … the hand that clutched at the child was whole like a mummy’s hand. But the child, the ancient one, my Claudia, was ashes.”

Captain Nathan Algren (Tom Cruise), The Last Samurai (2003)

I love it when Tom Cruise’s characters are defeated or crushed bc no matter how beaten down they are, there’s always this intense resistance in the eyes, like, You may have won the battle, but nOT THE WAR U BETTER WATCH YOUR BACK ASSHOLE(S).

Also Mortal Brunet!Lestat admitting defeat, bc this is also how he reacts when he lets kids beat him at Pokemon Go: “Oh no HOW did u beat my amazing magikarp? I am defeated. DEFEATED. My mother will disown me. I have brought shame to my entire family.”

Interview with the Vampire (1994) dir. Neil Jordan

^Consider this tho: an actor (Stephen Rea) pretending to be a vampire (Santiago) pretending to be an actor pretending to be a vampire [X by ouija—bored]

…pretending to be a ballerina…

When it’s good, there’s sort of nothing like it. When you’re in the moment, and the audience is with you, and you’re telling that story, and it’s alive, and it’s happening… and it feels like it’s never happened before, there’s nothing better. It’s just like flying.

When it’s bad, it’s awful.

David Tennant, 4/6/2016, on the extremes of being on stage (via jeeno2)
