At least the old GN got the outfits right, I never understood why in the books Louis always prefers solid black, but we rarely see him in it. I guess its just the film influence or that later on its assumed and generally accepted head cannon that Lestat dresses him?

Yeah, in fanon, I think we all agree when Louis looks especially fashionable, it’s because Lestat dressed him! Louis looks damn fine in torn jeans and a distressed sweater tho, tbh.

And yes, book!IWTV mentioned briefly that Louis had preferred black:

“… and it was [Claudia’s] pleading that forced me to give up my rusty black for dandy jackets and silk ties and soft gray coats and gloves and black capes. Lestat thought the best color at all times for vampires was black, possibly the only aesthetic principle he steadfastly maintained, but he wasn’t opposed to anything which smacked of style and excess.” – Interview with the Vampire

In movie!IWTV, he was already depressed enough, if he was also dressing like someone in mourning, I think it might have been harder to convince the audience why Lestat liked him at all!

Plus, his wardrobe shows a progression of his character throughout the course of the story.

  • mortal Louis: wears alot of white, he still has his innocence and ability to achieve goodness in the eyes of god or whatever.
  • newborn vampire Louis: is sorta uncoordinated, and awkward about killing, and still trying to be the plantation owner, clearly letting Lestat dress him for outings only.
  • vampire dad Louis: is more comfortable with killing, and trying to set a good example for vampire daughter Claudia, and at this point is probably letting Lestat buy all his clothes.
  • vampire accomplice Louis: is in Paris and trying to fit in there, and at this point is probably letting Claudia buy all his clothes.
  • bereaved –> modern day Louis: just picks things that he’ll blend into a crowd with (that casual linen suit he wears to go to the movies).
  • Louis talking with Daniel: has dressed up in severe black and white because the interview is meant to be a message to Lestat, and Louis knows Daniel will report what he’s wearing.

BONUS: Louis still has the coat that he wore when he was with Claudia in Paris:

Can you imagine how painful it would have been, returning to the hotel room he shared with Claudia, and all her clothes and accessories exactly as they were when she left it last? ;A;

vampiredevelopment:

Maeby: That Steve sure knows how to please a lady.

George Michael: Good. I was hoping he would be gifted sexually. I guess it makes sense, you know, older guys expect certain things.

Maeby: They do?

George Michael: What a fun, sexy time for you.

Why did you cut off Nicolas’ hands, really?

damnitarmand:

Nicolas could not contain what was occurring within him, and often his deterioration became destructive and difficult to conceal from mortals. Despite the fact that I did not directly claim leadership in an official capacity, I had a position to maintain and I had already protected him on numerous occasions, whether he realised such or not, as had Eleni. I had to prove that the threats that I made were not just threats if someone stepped out of line, or be seen as ineffective and suffer further challenges. I could not exclude Nicolas from that.

On the occasion where I took his hands, it was take his hands or take his life; based on the transgressions involved, it could have seriously compromised our position in Paris had it not been corrected swiftly. He was so far gone that others began to talk of precisely that, and I could not allow it. Taking his hands limited him in a way that imprisonment could not possibly have achieved; he had escaped imprisonment before when it was imposed upon him. Imprisonment meant nothing to him because the true oubliette existed in his mind, and that was inescapable. It gave me control over him enough that he could not possibly leave and potentially worsen the situation. It also proved that I was willing to back up my threats and that I would not respond with inaction if I was questioned.

The choice that I made meant that he lived. It does not necessarily follow that it was a choice I made gladly, regardless.
