Merrick (2000 – 2001) By Anne Rice.
I think this one of Anne’s best works. The pace of the novel is relentless and gracefully written. For me this novel is about David, Louis and Merrick’s spiral into a world of moral decline while they are haunted by their respective pasts.
David’s confessional work, the reader is a voyeur in this tale:
A rare glimpse into Louis’ desperation, inner torment, lack of self control and poor judgement. An autobiographical piece for David within the context of the Talamasca, relationship with Merrick, his journey both into the savage unknown and his personal responsibility for those around him. This novel is his ultimate admission of shame and guilt; past and present.

ooc; I ended up having to cancel it for the day I’d originally scheduled it, but I’ll run another one soon. Maybe next weekend… I’ll have to see. I’ll post no later than Monday if it’s a go or no-go.
We generally do a voice call after the movie, but no webcam, so no worries about cleaning rooms. 😉 I’m in my pajamas with no make-up on 99% of the time when I’m sitting at the computer at home and y’all wouldn’t want to see me.

While we’re flattered to be referred to with such titles, there’s enough room for many parental figures in a fandom! Definitely not excluding more moms, dads, and Uncle Lestans ;]
On the subject of parental figures:
Technically, for those who aren’t aware, Louis was meant to be AR herself as an insert. Claudia was based on Michelle Rice, the daughter AR lost at age 5 to
leukemia ;A;
So Louis really is the mom of the series.
The name “Lestat” derives from “Le” which is “the” in French + “Stan” which is her husband, Stan Rice. She had actually intended the character to be named Lestan, and a typo led to him being Lestat instead.
Daniel, having been the interviewer that brought the VC into a published work, definitely should get some credit as a sort of father of the series ❤

Personally, I love getting impressions from ppl just starting reading the series, as well as ideas from ppl who have already read and reread some or all of the VC. The headcanons ppl share are inspiring and the fanartists breathe visible life into these characters we all cherish. The silly stuff, the meta discussions, the RP… it’s a gift that keeps on giving to support such a fandom.
So thank you for following us, for sharing back with us, and if I could quit my job and just do this for a living I WOULD DO THAT IN A HEARTBEAT so much fandom love back to you, and the original writer of this lovely sentiment.
