At least the old GN got the outfits right, I never understood why in the books Louis always prefers solid black, but we rarely see him in it. I guess its just the film influence or that later on its assumed and generally accepted head cannon that Lestat dresses him?

Yeah, in fanon, I think we all agree when Louis looks especially fashionable, it’s because Lestat dressed him! Louis looks damn fine in torn jeans and a distressed sweater tho, tbh.

And yes, book!IWTV mentioned briefly that Louis had preferred black:

“… and it was [Claudia’s] pleading that forced me to give up my rusty black for dandy jackets and silk ties and soft gray coats and gloves and black capes. Lestat thought the best color at all times for vampires was black, possibly the only aesthetic principle he steadfastly maintained, but he wasn’t opposed to anything which smacked of style and excess.” – Interview with the Vampire

In movie!IWTV, he was already depressed enough, if he was also dressing like someone in mourning, I think it might have been harder to convince the audience why Lestat liked him at all!

Plus, his wardrobe shows a progression of his character throughout the course of the story.

  • mortal Louis: wears alot of white, he still has his innocence and ability to achieve goodness in the eyes of god or whatever.
  • newborn vampire Louis: is sorta uncoordinated, and awkward about killing, and still trying to be the plantation owner, clearly letting Lestat dress him for outings only.
  • vampire dad Louis: is more comfortable with killing, and trying to set a good example for vampire daughter Claudia, and at this point is probably letting Lestat buy all his clothes.
  • vampire accomplice Louis: is in Paris and trying to fit in there, and at this point is probably letting Claudia buy all his clothes.
  • bereaved –> modern day Louis: just picks things that he’ll blend into a crowd with (that casual linen suit he wears to go to the movies).
  • Louis talking with Daniel: has dressed up in severe black and white because the interview is meant to be a message to Lestat, and Louis knows Daniel will report what he’s wearing.

BONUS: Louis still has the coat that he wore when he was with Claudia in Paris:

Can you imagine how painful it would have been, returning to the hotel room he shared with Claudia, and all her clothes and accessories exactly as they were when she left it last? ;A;

Hey, I follow a lot of RP blogs and I frequently see stuff like you have on your blog that says “Mun is over 21 and only RPs with adults”. I don’t understand why this is a common thing. What’s so bad about RPing with minors? Do people not think teens are mature? If it’s because of the smut, I kind of get why (although I’m sure the teens would be more than willing to RP that). And why 21 instead of 18? I’m 16, I can’t wait that long!

vagabonddaniel-recordedarchives:

ooc, obviously: Well, it’s 21 because when I created my blog, I shamelessly copied the blog warnings of my friends. I think 21 is like a safety net, to discourage people who are, say, 17 and 10 months or whatever. I have since RP’d with plenty of people who are 19 and 20, so I should probably change that to 19.

It’s 100% due to child pornography laws and the fact that if I write smut with someone who’s not legally an adult, I could be legally prosecuted for it. That’s not something I want to have to defend myself against in court. So that’s for my own protection. It’s just super illegal. It doesn’t matter if you’re writing a character who’s 25 or 200 or 910. The law won’t care you were RPing the Tenth Doctor. They will see that an adult exchanged inappropriate messages with a teenager and that’s not okay.

As the adult in the situation, I cannot participate, encourage, or engage in that kind of thing. I don’t even write smut that often—not a fan of PWP—but given how RP tends to end up in a weird, ambiguous, or smutty areas, it’s all about being on the safe side.

I know it sucks. Back when I was teen, the internet was pretty new and people weren’t worried about that stuff because it literally didn’t occur to them to be worried about it. Nowadays, all it takes is the wrong thing to end up on your internet history and you can be prosecuted.

What you can do now is RP with other teens, and I know there are a lot of teens in the tumblr RP community.

I want the K

3: Nose Kiss

He’d fallen asleep while they’d been watching a film—sprawled across the divan, his head in her lap, one leg throw half off the piece of furniture. Like any parent, when he slept she could see the face of babyhood still somewhere in the man he was now, her heart aching just a little as she stroked his hair absently. No, she would never deliver such affection were he awake—it cost her too much to do so—but in the safety of slumber she might treat him as she would have in the smallness of mortal babyhood.

She leaned over his face, gently pressing her lips to the tip of his nose. She loved him—unconditionally, irrevocably—this much would always be true.

Is it true that Lestat is actually the child of your lover?

viaticumforthemarquise:

No, this is a rumour, one that even I have perpetuated from time to time.

I wish he was. I wish he did not have the blood of my husband running through his veins.

But he does. And this is evident when he falls prey to his passions, his rages, his uncontrollable temper. All of the horrors my son is capable of come almost completely from the cruelties he learned and inherited at the feet of his father.

This is not to say that I myself am not capable of great cruelty, merely that my cruelties do not live in the spotlight of Lestat’s memory in quite the same way that his father’s do.

✦ :Fatal flaw (can you even admit to any? ha!)

viaticumforthemarquise:

Love.

Especially for Lestat. How he must glow to read that.

But, truly, had it not been for his arrival, I could have easily slipped into the monotony and everyday horrors that were life in the Auvergne, dying young and despising everything around me, the world painted grey.

You’ve seen that film, The Wizard of Oz? When Dorothy walks from Kansas into Oz? It’s incredibly trite, but Lestat’s entry into my world was like that walk from the broken, tornado-wracked house onto the golden-paved streets of Oz.

Ah, but he comes by hyperbole honestly, doesn’t he?

It wasn’t that my entire life had been grey up until him—but merely that the greyness cast upon it was so consuming as to kill me sooner rather than later.

If it weren’t for Lestat, I could walk through my immortality without a care, without a thought, without another spoken word to another creature—yet he placed an ember in my heart when I thought it was ice, worked his way in when I wasn’t looking and settled himself there nicely.

Hate me for his upbringing, the times I ignored him, the times I shut my door against him. Hate me for the times I’ve come too late to his pleas for help.

But know that I love him. And he is what breaks me down when I might remain strong.
