Show Armand some love. Write him a note expressing it, please? I’m begging ya! This whole Fuck/Marry/Kill game is upsetting him bc people keep choosing to kill him! Is Armand really so expendable? To everyone? *cries*

gorgeous-fiend-blog:

Of the thousands of immortals immolated in the rise of Akasha, Armand was one of the precious few who remained. And why is that do you wonder? There is nothing mysterious to it, in fact it is made quite plain.

As much as we grind on each other, at the very bottom of the bitterness, resentment, and jealousy Armand is a beloved of mine. He is my dark brother whom I have known almost the entirety of my immortality. Life with out him would seem…incomplete.

To answer your question is Armand expendable? Absolutely not.

ooc; A reboot of the Vampire Chronicles films seems to be a possibility, including a remake of Interview with the Vampire and Queen of the Damned.

Setting up a potential “Twilight”-like franchise, Universal Pictures has acquired movie rights to Anne Rice’s novels in “The Vampire Chronicles” series for Brian Grazer and Imagine Entertainment.

Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are on board to produce.

The deal — announced Thursday — includes the adapted screenplay for “Tale of the Body Thief” written by Rice’s son, author Christopher Rice. Other novels in the series include “Interview with the Vampire” and the upcoming “Prince Lestat.”

Rice published “Interview with the Vampire” in 1976 and “The Vampire Lestat” in 1985, followed by “The Queen of the Damned” (1988), “The Tale of the Body Thief” (1992),
“Memnoch the Devil”  (1995), “The Vampire Armand” (1998), “Merrick” (2000), “Blood and Gold” (2001), “Blackwood Farm” (2002), “Blood Canticle” (2003) and “Prince Lestat” this year.

“Another big problem was the script, which was written by Rice herself, taking her first shot at writing a screenplay. Pitt hadn’t seen it until two weeks before shooting started. When he finally did get a copy, he realized that everything in Rice’s book that was interesting about his character … was gone.

And so here he was, a rising young actor and budding sex symbol, stuck in an uninteresting, passive role.

"In the book you have this guy asking, ‘Who am I?’ Which was probably applicable to me at that time: ‘Am I good? Am I of the angels? Am I bad? Am I of the devil?’ In the book it is a guy going on this search of discovery. And in the meantime, he has this Lestat character that he’s entranced by and abhors. … In the movie, they took the sensational aspects of Lestat and made that the pulse of the film, and those things are very enjoyable and very good, but for me, there was just nothing to do — you just sit and watch.”

JCB “Lestat Chronicles”

cdf-archive:

My brain decided to have another epiphany so here we go.

Some people don’t like Jamie Campbell Bower as Lestat because “he looks too weird”.

I am going to point out that Lestat was born in the late 1700s. Many of you already knew this, of course. However, something people fail to keep in mind is that back then, modern medicine, cosmetology, and dentistry did not exist yet.

You would be extremely lucky to have what today considers ‘perfect teeth’, where they are stark-white and completely straight, free of cosmetic blemishes.

As someone that has had braces in her past to fix a rather nasty snaggletooth problem, I can vouch for the fact that how your teeth look in an ‘architectural sense’, affects the way the rest of your face looks as well. It affects your jawline and most importantly, your side profile. My two front incisors used to overlap and I looked very odd, to say the least. I think I still look a little odd, but not really in a bad way. After I got my braces off, my side profile changed completely because my teeth gave me a slight overbite because of how they sat. What I lack in some areas of ‘aesthetically pleasing’ features, I make up for in others.

Why is this included in here, of all places? Because it provides a scientific viewpoint which others might overlook. Do you recall how dirty Louis and Claudia’s teeth were in the movie for Interview with the Vampire and how their transformations whitened their teeth and enhanced their natural beauty? Vampirism takes what is naturally beautiful about you, and enhances it to as perfect as it can get.

To say that Lestat was “aesthetically perfect” in every way as a mortal would be entirely unrealistic, to me. Nobody’s face claim is going to be ‘perfect’ for Lestat, not even Jamie Campbell Bower.

There will always be inconsistencies, everywhere you look. But it’s not really even whether or not I find him perfect. It’s his imperfections that make him perfect, to me. And perhaps that’s what Magnus found in Lestat – his imperfections gave him an indescribable yet authentic beauty and Magnus wanted to immortalize those features by turning Lestat into a vampire, even thought Lestat did not want it. It was okay with Magnus that Lestat had a few things here and there that weren’t completely perfect; he found him extraordinarily beautiful, regardless.

Personality has a lot of importance to me when choosing face claims for the characters I portray. The reason people like RPing with my characters is my characterization and attention to detail. I try my best to bring the people I write to life in the most accurate way I possibly can, taking into consideration how much I know about that character. Some people I have written with in the past have poor characterization and that in itself makes it hard for me to write with certain individuals. I feel like I’m talking to the writer, not the character.

While I have seen a lot of wonderful face claims for Lestat, and all of them are beautiful in their own ways to me (especially Jeremy Dufour), I like Jamie because he has a TON of videos, pictures and gifs where I can look at them and say “I see Lestat, there”. The other face claims are nice too, but some of them are obscure enough to where they don’t have barely any pictures.

Let’s be real here, people. Lestat is, or would be, a total camera whore.

Anyway, that concludes my little essay and another section of my silly little “Why I Use JCB For Lestat Chronicles”.

“There will always be inconsistencies, everywhere you look. But it’s not really even whether or not I find him perfect. It’s his imperfections that make him perfect, to me. And perhaps that’s what Magnus found in Lestat – his imperfections gave him an indescribable yet authentic beauty and Magnus wanted to immortalize those features by turning Lestat into a vampire, even though Lestat did not want it. It was okay with Magnus that Lestat had a few things here and there that weren’t completely perfect; he found him extraordinarily beautiful, regardless.”

“TL;DR” no really this is a valid point and well-voiced!

JCB “Lestat Chronicles”

If you have read all the books, do you think Louis is the person Lestat loved the most? I’d like to think it is but I’ve heard things against it? Like Anne Rice herself stated David was her favorite of Lestats intimate relationships.

Hmmm… I have read all 10 books. This question made me pause, bc I’d never considered the question of the “Person Lestat Has Loved the Most.” So of course I had to write a thesis on it, you better be grateful, Anon ;]

It’s interesting that AR thinks of David as her favorite of Lestat’s intimate relationships. I think that may be due in part to the fact that in canon she sort of forgot about Louis post-QotD. From there until Merrick, Louis’s role was fairly small. Maybe it’s because AR had made Louis in her own image, Lestat was made in her husband’s image, and felt that the Louis part of her was done and over with. She sort of morphed into Lestat’s role when her husband passed away. Maybe AR saw something in the father-figure that David presented to Lestat, that patient and kind teacher, that she would have wanted for herself… David has also had a great strength, from the first scene we meet him, he doesn’t take Lestat’s shit, doesn’t frighten easily.

But since we’re asking MY opinion here, I don’t think you can choose the ”Person Lestat Has Loved the Most.”

There are different kinds of love, different types of loving relationships; Lestat would probably agree on this concept. I don’t believe in 1 person getting 1 soulmate and that’s THAT. Think of the pressure on that person to provide ALL the love you need. Think of the pressure on YOU to give ALL the love that person needs. It would be enough to crush anyone.

I think Lestat needs to give/receive different kinds of love from different people, that’s why he’s not a shining example of monogamy (at least not for too long!). These 4 people stand out, to me (and other ppl who have read ALL 10 books), as being his main Loved the Most People (in no particular order):

  • Louis: I think we can agree that Louis is the one Lestat has loved the longest. It’s the most lasting relationship for both, and they undeniably have the strongest chemistry, and the strongest desire for each other in a much deeper way than just, “oh you are so hot let’s fuck.” They love each other for their inner beings, flaws and all. Which I think is one of the highest levels of love you can have ♥u♥ (But they do exhaust each other with their intensity from time to time and need space.)
  • David: was there when Lestat needed him in a way that Louis couldn’t (and wasn’t willing to) be. There’s an intensity added to the love for someone who essentially saves your freakin’ life! David saved Lestat’s life. I don’t want to spoil it for you if you haven’t read #4 so I’ll leave it there ;] …However, David has always been more independent, he’s never come across as yearning for Lestat the way Louis has. He was able to refuse Lestat’s very enticing advances when they were both mortal, and I wonder whether that was actually a fear that he might disappoint Lestat w/ his rickety old man body and lose him forever as a friend. David really did (and continues to!) try to keep Lestat in the Friendzone. Maybe David is afraid of becoming too attached to Lestat and yearning for him the way Louis does.
  • Gabrielle: let’s not leave out Lestat’s first love, Mommie Dearest! Oedipus Complex aside, she was the first person to really go to bat for him when he needed it, and even if they were not related, they still understand and care for each other in a way no one else can come close to.
  • Nicolas: First real relationship, in which Lestat learned about mutual support and caring, and adventure time, and all that other stuff. Some say Louis was Nicki 2.0. If Nicolas had survived, well… he would probably still be in Lestat’s Little Black Book at the very least.

I’m sure I’m missing someone and there’ll be backlash, but ^those 4 stand out to me as fandom’s agreed-upon OTP’s for Lestat.

~♥~ Honorable mentions would be:

  • Armand (definitely a BroTP at least),
  • Claudia (who took his heart and stabbed it, too),
  • Marius (♪”I will be your father figure/Put your tiny hand in mine”♪),
  • Daniel (just to spite Armand),
  • Jesse (no, not from that trainwreck QotD movie, just from the books, she was a pretty aggressive wanna-be groupie),
  • Tarquin Blackwood (a pretty big Lestat fanboy who Lestat allowed to blather on for about 95% of a novel ugh),
  • Mona Mayfair (Unfortunately he did fall for her for about 20 seconds),
  • Rowan Mayfair (Unfortunately he did fall for her for about 30 seconds).

I hope that answers your question! I can’t seem to answer anything simply. *siiiigh*
