Cosplay, for me, isn’t just about the looks, it’s also in the attitude. So if someone’s eyes aren’t the shade as described in the book it’s not a dealbreaker. I think I prefer silly/parody cosplays because it’s so hard to achieve the serious dramatic quality one gets with the added $$$, experienced professionals of cinematography, costume design, lighting, etc., that the film industry relies on when making films. When you aim for silly/parody, it’s truly more about the performance than the physical look.
That said, here’s an example I like of everyman as Lestat:
I think it works! Looking at his other pics, he’s really gone to great lengths to recreate scenes/relationships, and he’s got good Lestatuesque body language and attitude.
As for the Louis, yeah, in most of the pics he seems #ooc, but I think ^this expression is excellent! He’s got the “Lestat omfg STOP” just under his dignified veneer. Nice sharp French features, great outfit, looks like the right age. He could even work as Nicolas. If only this guy worked as well in his front angle as his profile *siiiigh*.
Melodysknight as Lestat gets massive points for also playing the IWTV pieces.

What do you think Santiago’s motivation behind his persecution of Louis? I think he was madly (like, genuinely crazily, because he IS crazy) in love with Armand.
Santiago loves to persecute, he loved torturing his victims onstage, he’s a manipulative bastard! Even better when the victim is a particularly lovely creature like Louis ;]

Yeah, I suspect and there is a secret fanfic that supports this theory that Santiago considered himself 2nd-in-command and maybe more to Armand, and he felt himself very usurped when Louis came into the picture, and had it in for Louis from the first moment Armand made heart-eyes at Louis.
Santiago was also a Vampire of the Rules, as long as following them worked for him. Louis had been an active accomplice in attempting to kill his own maker twice (THE cardinal undead crime); attempting to keep it a secret doesn’t engender trust in such a member, in fact it provides a good reason to feel threatened by them.
Does Virgin blood mean the blood of someone who has never had sex or blood that has never been drank/used in a ritual before?
Excellent question! All of the above.
^That’s definitely not sexually-virgin blood there, but it might very well be not-used-before-in-a-ritual virgin blood!
Hopefully the alcohol in it cleaned it up a bit? Maybe knowing the source is what really grossed Louis out about it, ick.
I’m not a good resource on this, but I believe it can mean all of those. In some religious rituals, it means specifically blood that has not been used in a ritual before (as in, whoever it is providing their blood has not shed blood in a previous ritual before). Drunk before? Well if it’s been drunk, it’s been used already, not sure how you’d retrieve it for another use!
It is true that some cultures held virgins up as oracles, and kept them separated from society at large. That they were free from the mental and physical demands that come with having a sex life (I’m not agreeing necessarily, just guessing at their reasoning in a very generalized way).
The idea that a person who has not had sex yet could be counted on to have pure blood may stem from the fact that diseases were much more mysterious long ago; lacking treatment options, people died and/or suffered terribly from sexually transmitted diseases.

As for the fandom reaction, tbh I’ve been a fan ever since the dark ages of speculative fic on geocities websites oh gawd i am old I survived the War on Fanfic from the 90’s... but I didn’t actually find the fandom as it exists now until after this movie came out (2012)!
At the time, I myself was excited along with a few RL friends who were my entire VC fandom at that time. We were pleased as punch.
I’ll speculate that the fandom ppl that loved Cruise’s Lestat (like meeee) were very psyched for RoA. Even now, I consider Cruise’s Jaxx to be an older, mortal, brunet, tattooed Lestat. That’s alot of AU there, but still.
In RoA, his character is similar to Lestat: that whole macho shell with a tender, bruised inside that just wants to be loved for who he really is. At the end of RoA, Jaxx ends up with someone who loves him for HIM, rather than the groupies who love his stage persona or want to bang him for his sexual prowess, or his money, or whatever. Same thing with Lestat. So many people want to fuck him, but very few put in the effort, or gain his trust enough to get to know who he really is inside.

Some RPers actually already claimed him for Daniel Molloy and I have to agree w/ them, he’s very Daniel!
However, I always thought of Daniel as being similar to Lestat in appearance, and upon further very scientific research, I think Jeremy Dufour could also work as Lestat. I couldn’t find a really decent pic of him smiling in a Lestatuesque way, but a great smile is necessary, too ;]
