Sorry, I’ve had this for 2 months, but it’s too broad a question, too many characters to think about! I think it varies for different vampires at different times in their lives and unlives.
Louis didn’t get very excited about Christmas until Claudia. She had been with them for only a few months, and then Christmas was upon them. Lestat transformed the parlor and courtyard into a little winter wonderland, Claudia was excited about that (and she put up a fight in March when he said they should really take it down), and she had a stack of presents under the tree on Christmas night.
Her first priority was giving Louis his gift, which was a pack of drawings bound in a soft leather portfolio Lestat had picked out with her. Drawings she had done of him, Lestat, their little family, their house. He was deeply touched, and few Christmas gifts ever topped it. It was at that moment that he finally understood the point of that holiday and his anticipation for that kind of moment does build, he gets into the spirit of it with everyone else *u*
Armand is the best at masking his presence/thoughts because he had centuries of practice hiding his heart from Santino.
Armand may be one of the best of the coven at his mind gifts, true. Lestat is very intimidated by Armand’s abilities ;D
I had to think about this a lot, maybe I’m misreading your comment. Hiding his heart from Santino (& Co.) for centuries? I’m not sure if he could do that.
I would need to reread TVA. Just because Armand may not have believed in that religion, he may have eventually had feelings for his “teachers” there, and shared his heart to some extent. Why else be so passionate about trying to get rid of Lestat in TVL, so the Children of Darkness could go on with business as usual? If Armand was really that miserable, he could have killed himself, but he didn’t. When he became a coven master himself, he would have had even more freedom to do so if he really wanted to.
♛Some might describe my default disposition as “immature,” when it’s really more that I’m just easily amused. “Immature.” What a little word. So limiting. Considering the avalanche of shit I’ve hacked my way through, I hardly think “immature” describes me.
[X] My sense of humor? It’s detailed in my first book. Anything can set me off. All still true. Something I didn’t have then: short internet videos, Vines, these things are amazing and the coven all send me links to the best.
Who’s easily amused? Daniel, David, Marius, Jesse. In that order. Jesse and I have inside jokes that are facial expressions only.
I put the “fun” in “funeral,” and the “laughter” in “slaughter,” but I make every attempt to stifle it when it’s truly inappropriate. It can sometimes improve a situation. Intimate moments where I’m trying my best to be sensual and attentive, something about the language of seduction, verbal or physical, might strike me as overly serious and I can’t help but giggle at the pretentiousness of it all. I’ll get playful criticism from the object of my affection, and then we may give up on the seriousness of it all, opting instead to come up with taunting terms of endearment for each other, and having less control entirely.
My favorite of all types of humor? Nobody makes me laugh like I do. My own sense of humor is my favorite. What’s my sense of humor? Something pointed and sharp at times, soft and generous at other times. Everything in between. Children’s jokes can slay me.
Armand makes me laugh harder than anyone else. Even when he’s being cruel to me. Probably the same principle as mentioned already, that in his seriousness, he almost seems to be playing a role, and I can’t help but see it as a caricature. If it were real emotion, real care, it could fracture something inside me, something buried deep.
#Fanart request. So many of our characters taking on the 24-hr handcuff challenge could be hilarious. They would need to use enchanted chains like the ones in MtD or else it would be too easy to break out ;]
(One of my fics has a similar concept, L/L “tied together” for a night: A Precious Material.)
♛I’ll confess that Iam very ticklish, when I’m in the mood for it. More so when I was a child. My nurse, who you’d call a “babysitter” now, or a “minder,” I suppose… an older villager with limited energy, she would shuffle after me down the halls of the castle, I’d let her catch me up and reduce me to a painful amount of giggling on the floor. She wasn’t satisfied until we were both hoarse from laughter!
Anon, let me be very clear: my defensive reflexes are too fast for a mortal to get to those sensitive areas, unless I’m already compromised… with sufficiently adulterated beverage. You’ll have to find me somewhere in that state if you hope to accomplish this little mission of yours *winks* and then there’s the added mystery of where those areas are since I’m not telling you *smirks*
Louis is your favorite? I’d be offended but that we have that in common, he’s my favorite, too. Getting Louis into full-blown laughter is a real challenge. More of a mental game than a physical one, but I’ll use anything at my disposal to make it happen when the moment is ripe. Protip: he is not physically ticklish unless he is warm and well-fed, and already in a pleasant mood. The difficulty is that much of his pleasure is experienced inwardly.
One of the best and cheapest tactics to get Louis to laugh audibly is the simplicity of a staring contest. He can’t help it. No need to announce when the contest begins, just set yourself up comfortably before him and begin staring. He can’t resist the challenge. Even from mortals.
I have a little treat for you first, the voice of Nicolas! Well, kinda sorta.
[X ^ This is model Tomek Szczukiecki who looks hella more mysterious w/ his face cropped like dis]
@devilsviolinist had posted this audio clip of Nicolas’ normal/contented voice, and @colourful-jack informed us that it is in fact ballet dancer Jonathan Klein [audio from this vid here]. While Klein does not look at all like Nicolas, listen to the audio clip, the voice is great!
I have to consider the others some more but I didn’t want to make you wait any longer for at least some reply ;]
[X] Well there’s fighting, which usually is not part of a porno? There’s a lot of pain and misery on its way to balance out all that smut ;]
After the second journey, [Marius] came home weary and uncommonly sad. He said, as he
had said once before, that “Those Who Must Be Kept” seemed to be at peace.
“I hate it what these creatures are!” I said.
“No, never say such a thing to me, Amadeo!” he burst out. In a flash I’d seen him
more angry and uncomposed than ever in our lives. I’m not sure I’d ever seen him
really angry in our lives.
He approached me and I shrank back, actually afraid. But by the time he struck me,
hard across the face, he’d recovered himself, and it was just the usual brain-jarring
blow.
I accepted it, and then threw him one exasperated searing glance. “You act like a
child,” I said, “a child playing Master, and so I must master my feelings and put up
with this.“
Of course it took all my reserves to say this, especially when my head was swimming,
and I made my face such an obdurate mask of contempt that suddenly he burst out
laughing.
I started to laugh too.
^Could they have really lasted as a ship if not for what separated them? Idk really but they are like many VC ships, beautiful and
