♡InktoberVC day 15: Karaoke Night!

Lestat and Armand in a karaoke battle.

@theoneandonlylestat @wellijustfinnihedoneofthebooks Thanks for helping me to decide which one(Lestat or Armamd) I should draw. I drew them both!

Lestat answers a Fan Question for Lestat re: his taste in music, 10/12/14 [X]

Lestat here. I want to answer Scott Hunsucker: “Lestat, I would like to know how you feel about music. You’ve been around long enough to hear some of the greats play and sing. Do you have a personal preference for a certain genre or style of music. If so, does the music move you, does it take you back or evoke memories of your past as it does with some of us mortals?” Scott, I love music. I have to be careful with it; music intoxicates me; I can become completely taken over by music, to where I don’t want to do much else but listen to it. It’s like a powerful drug. I love music of all periods, especially my own century — Mozart in particular. And some French composers who were earlier favorites at the French Royal Court. Vivaldi energizes me, as do many of the Italians. But I can be overpowered easily by Beethoven and Brahms, and 19th century opera as well. Verdi and Puccini and Saint Saens especially delight me. Of course I am enchanted by popular music of all kinds — Jim Morrison, Tina Turner, Bon Jovi, Joan Jett. I find myself highly susceptible to the most emotional and intense music. But I can be hypnotized by the gentle melodies of Eric Satie or Chopin as well. I am consumed from time to time with the desire to make music, to sneak off to some little tavern in the French Quarter of New Orleans and take to the stage with an electric guitar. I do this from time to time, actually. Though not as much as I would like. Thanks for the question. There are many more composers and performers I could name, but you get the idea. —– Now, if anyone has a new question for me, by all means post it in this thread.

I guess you’d say I’m as new as they come since I’ve just watched Interview With A Vampire, right now I’m curious as to what did Lestat do or where did he go after he got control of the car?

Bonjour! (Ok so now that you’ve set foot past the threshold, you’re going to have to read the books to really get involved in this fandom. There’s far too much in canon that’s not in movie!IWTV.)

But for funsies let’s consider it: Where did Lestat go and what did he do after he got control of the car? Well, geographically, he was heading away from San Francisco on the Golden Gate Bridge and dawn was approaching rapidly, so he would’ve had to stop and find shelter on the other side ASAP. He probably had to bury himself somewhere in the Kirby Cove Campground. I don’t think he would’ve had enough time to turn Daniel that night. Maybe he tied Daniel up somewhere nearby, or maybe Daniel agreed to stand by and keep watch for the day? FANFIC/FANART REQUEST.

[X] So technically, and I hate to break it to ya, but Lestat *riding off into the sunrise* w/ Daniel is not canon. They added that to the end of the movie to end on a lighter note than they might have otherwise.

In the book, Daniel goes looking for Lestat in NOLA and finds Armand instead, hilarity ensues.

Plot and ships would have had to shuffle around to accommodate a Lestat/Daniel ship. I ship them as a BroTP, if that does anything for ya.

So now: read the book!

Dumped in a swamp, and you’re to blame, darling you give love a bad name. You slit my throat, set the house aflame! You give looove a BAD NAME!

♛He did do those things to me or watched as they were done and he does give love a bad name.

He’s lucky that despite all that, I have a forgiving nature.

Still… good to sing that at him now and then.

How do you picture lestats band sounding? I always picture a danger says era My Chemical Romance thing

I think that’s different for everyone, and #your headcanon may vary, so your headcanon is as valid as any! Who knows how true to canon the new adaptation will be? It would be fine with me if they want to update his musical taste/sound, as long as it seems in character.

But canon-wise, Lestat awoke in the mid-80s, before MCR was formed. AR wrote TVL w/ the 70′s and 80′s in mind. She’s mentioned Bon Jovi was a major Lestat muse for her (she even included him on the PL dedication page).

There’s fanon that Lestat loves Bruce Springsteen, too. So I’d say he would sound like a mix of Guns ‘n Roses, Bon Jovi, and Bruce Springsteen.

When whoever was in charge chose Korn to be the sound for Lestat’s band in movie!QOTD, they weren’t aiming for canon accuracy, but it was an interesting take on it.

There’s also a Lestat band on FB you can check out, I think they officially got AR’s permission to use the name.

Favorite song!!

dandelioncourt: #sometimes i like to imagine lestat chillin’ in an
armchair with his feet up #idly picking at the strings of an old dusty
guitar #and he sings songs he’s heard on the radio #like this

hyperbeeb:

Currently imagining Lestat who, after several hundred pages of what the fuck is now the leader of the vampires making it a law to “not talk shit about Bon Jovi”

Say what you want about Lestat’s musical contributions, but YEAH: TALK SHIT ABOUT BON JOVI and prepare to DIE. SLOWLY. ON FIRE. to the tune of “Livin’ on a Prayer.”
