Back in September I bought cheap used copies of all the Vampire Chronicles (and New Tales) for myself so that I could reread them in time for PLatRoA. And I wrote in them and stuff. It was pretty fun. I crammed all 14 books in 10 weeks and it was PRETTY EXHILARATING.
So anyway, for as long as it interests me, watch this space as I flip through them again and make posts of quotes and passages that I enjoyed. 🙂
I’ve been wanting to do this myself for the longest time!! Do the different colors of highlighted passages mean anything? 🙂
yisssss
I was mostly just using the pink primarily (sometimes I switched to green because I went through like 4 packs of highlighters and tbh Marius is a Highliter Ruiner and I kept running the pink ones out), but I’d switch to blue if I wanted to extra emphasize something in the paragraph, or I’d switch back and forth with pink & blue if there were two paragraphs/sentences back to back that I wanted to highlight for different reasons, like I found each section to be a complete idea etc. Then I saved purple for EXTRA IMPORTANT STUFF.
It was really fun and enlightening and definitely heightened my enjoyment of these stories. Plus like, I’ll be honest, not every step of the way was the most academic endeavor, because I was highlighting and noting a mix of “This is really important to the plot and this character” and “THIS GIVES ME THE LOLS”
You should do it! IT WAS FUN. 😀
^There is SO MUCH humor in VC!!! I feel like ppl forget that sometimes…
^This would be all over everything if I did this… w/ tons of 😀 and D:

Welcome to the *~front burner~*, fam. When??? we’re actually getting that TV series is always a question – and those of us who have waited for years between adaptations have the patience of saints – but hell, why not be excited about it? Or at least cautiously optimistic 😉 Let it out. You can cry, bruh.
AR is planning on starting with TVL and she’s asking for fan input*, so…. let’s give it to her!
“WHAT HUGO DOES WITH EVENTS, ANNE DOES WITH PEOPLE.”
YOU PUT IT IN PERFECT WORDS. That’s exactly it, Victor Hugo’s characters are great and well drawn, but because of the third person narration, they are a little less personal; but his take on the events of Notre Dame and Les Mis (for the two best known examples), feel like actual accounts of history.
Sure, Anne’s got chararacters that are immortal walking between heaven and hell (litereally) but at the same time, they’re talking to you and just feel so real.
#eloquent eloquence #SEE THIS is what I’m talking about when I say I’m picky about other vampire media, these are strong and rich characters first, and they’re vampires secondarily.
Some VC Advertising for you and your blog, in connection to our yesterday’s conversation.
This here is all your doing.
No regrets.

I want to see your VC section on your bookshelves. Tell me if this blog (or any other!) inspired you to add to it *u*
Seeing the series all lined up like that, it’s like seeing old friends, in such spiffy new covers, no less! Lestat would be impressed that they’re all in such good condition.
It gets a different name every year, this year it’s “Midnight in the Savage Garden of Blood and Evil Halloween Ball.” I’ve never been to one myself, but apparently they are alot of fun, and lots of ppl dress up and/or cosplay as the characters!
It’s in New Orleans, LA, USA (almost always there, not sure if it has been held elsewhere) on 10/28/16.
It’s run by the Anne Rice Vampire Lestat Fan Club (main site, FB page) and it looks like they’re also trying to do “a pure New Orleans night out in the Lafayette Cemetery on Thursday night Oct. 27th to benefit Save Our Cemeteries…” so there’s that, too.
Looks like there will be an actual official Lestat, walking around Mastering the Ceremonies!
This is best!!! I’m so glad you liked it! The whole book series is straight up fabulous, and Anne Rice who writes them is such a sassy lady! Yikes I’m just so excited because I literally haven’t fan-girled over the Vampire Chronicles for YEARS.
