Confession: I am transgender

♛ I’m not shocked by this confession, and normally, your confessor (your religious figure, mentor, spiritual father, etc.) forgives someone’s confession with some kind of absolution. No one’s forgiveness is needed here, you’ve done absolutely nothing wrong. A confession is something given from a place of guilt or shame and you should feel neither. Please don’t feel guilt or shame, forgive yourself *hugs tightly*

On a personal note, some have speculated that my mother is transgender, too. If she were to confess such, I wouldn’t be surprised. Admittedly I was shocked the first time she wanted to dress as a man, but that was a night of shocking exploration and I was somewhat emotionally drained already.

If she wanted to be called “Gabriel” and have he/his pronouns I would be more than happy to use them. Whether he physically altered himself, I would accept him, in any form, with open arms. He would probably resemble me even more than Gabrielle does now, and imitation is the highest form of flattery, is it not?

I’ve seen the transgender people step into the light in recent times, but they have always existed. You are not alone. I hope you are, or will be, comfortable in your transition and that your loved ones support you, as I would.

#and like what so sad about this moment #actually #is that Lestat is learning smtg new here #that laudanum has a real effect on him #but he has not yet realized that Claudia aint playin #she has tactically weakened him #this is not in fact funtimes

I was wondering, as the mother hen of the fandom on this site, do you think Armand and Daniel ever loved each other? Or that they were both trying to take advantage of their relationship (Armand to learn about the modern world and to be less lonely and Daniel to achieve immortality)?

Mother hen! More like mother swaaaan. They are prettier and seriously badass. I was bitten by one when I was little. They don’t f*ck around.

Did Armand and Daniel ever love each other??!! omg what kind of an unfair question! Yes they did! YES, YES, YES THEY DID. AND MAYBE STILL DO. DEPENDING ON THE HOUR AND THEIR RESPECTIVE CRANKY LEVELS.

~What is love? Baby don’t hurt me, don’t hurt me, no more.~

Initially yes, Daniel just wanted to vampire. He went looking for Lestat for that, and found Armand instead. Sparks flew, and he became fascinated by Armand, probably more than he was with Louis. And Armand seemed equally fascinated by Daniel. There was a macabre kind of chemistry there, a mutual attraction.

[Hit the jump for more, but really, go ask an Armand and a Daniel! I ship them, but admittedly, they are not my main ship.]

What even is a relationship? Every relationship is built and defined by the people who are in it. Armand could have hired a personal assistant if all he wanted was a tutor/travel agent. Armand wanted DANIEL. Daniel’s wit, his rebelliousness, his charm, his inquisitive nature, all these things made Daniel more appealing as a companion.

On his deathbed, Daniel wanted immortality to be with Armand, not just for eternity alone. The fact that they may or may not be “together” in canon right now doesn’t mean they didn’t share something very loving and special, and it doesn’t mean they don’t still consider each other fondly. Some breakups can be mended, some can’t. Some exes can be friends. Some can’t. That’s life.

Who is that little boy that hangs around Armand? That little boy Louis bites on the hand.

That’s Denis. He’s Armand’s pet. We don’t know much about him.

3 things about this bite:

1. After watching the gruesome performance at the Theatre, Louis and Claudia are both pretty hungry. Seems like a courtesy offering to a vampire, like you might offer someone water or soda or whatever when they’re a guest in your house. In the book, Claudia gets a bite of Denis, too.

image

2. Seems like a trust-building exercise. All the vampires in the Theatre are watching him, and we’ve seen how easy it is to poison a vampire. Louis accepting this offering is a show of good faith, trusting them that they’re not poisoning him right then.

3. Killing/drinking blood is a very sensual experience for vampires, Louis describes sex as “the pale shadow of killing.” Makes sense then, that Louis does not like to be watched doing it. Also, he’s usually unable to stop himself from killing his victims. Armand’s mind gift is very strong, and he’s enjoying this whole moment on a deeper level.

We know that Denis is fiercely devoted to Armand, he even drives the getaway carriage for him and Louis after Louis serves his revenge at the Theatre des Vampires, en flambé, of course.

poets the VC vampires read

Lestat: He cannot stand Shelley because he was dishonest in his romanticism, but Byron, who never pretended to be anything other than what he was both in his verse and in his life he adores. Keats was akin to Apollo reborn into innocence; and he reads all the French Symbolists except for Baudelaire. He enjoys Italian sonnets, Shakespeare, Sidney, Spencer, Skelton, and Heine.
Louis: loves Baudelaire. Pope is a favorite of his (“pray tell, Sir, whose dog are you?”), he enjoys the Graveyard Poets and their imagery of humans in terror of the dead and ghosts, its a feeling that he can’t experience anymore by vicariously. He doesn’t miss the fears of mortality though so he doesn’t have much patience with Poe, save for a handful of French translations of his work. Also enjoys Elliot’s sense of ennui.
Marius: Dante was popular drivel according him during the Roman days, but the longer time passes from the ancient days he grows to admire newer, but well structured verses, ones that focus more on creating a sensation than a narrative. He does have a taste for Rilke, however, and once gifted Armand with a copy of “Letters to a Young Poet”
Armand: Daniel introduced him to the beat poets, whom he has cultivated a great fondness for. Sapho, he reads out of a joy that he is the only one privileged with a copy of her full poems, not just fragments, that he stole from Marius’s library centuries ago, as just one of the rare documents he keeps for his private amusement with refusal to share with the world. He fancies his Theatre of Vampires to be similar to the poem “The Conqueror Worm.”
Daniel: He found a trunk of poems from the 50’s in his dad’s junk after he died and he was helping his mother clean the house out so she could downsize. Really, it them that convinced him to hit the road as a writer. One day he swears to himself that he’ll also make it through Erza Pound’s “Cantos” and gives with a grim laugh the remark that “at least thanks to Armand, I’ll have all the time in eternity to finish it”

top 5 things you like about daniel molloy

moral-cipher:

Again, in no particular order:

1. His intelligence. The way he is never content unless he has figured something out or discussed it from every aspect matches my own, and although we may both occasionally annoy each other, I would not be without our discussions for the world. Daniel has a fierce curiosity and a razor sharp wit, as well as a surprisingly large repertoire of literary and other references, which includes classical works as well as the twentieth and twentyfirst centuries. He is always able to take me off guard.

2. His fearlessness and his seemingly effortless ability to face the world head on. Though never cruel, he pulls no punches, either with himself or with others, and is not prone to the self deceptions or elaborate rationalisations which so many of our kind seem to have espoused. This more than anything gives me confidence in his ability to withstand the passing of the years without breaking under their burden.

3. His strange but indomitable sense of humour. Daniel can find something to laugh at in the very worst of situations, and even the smallest of everyday actions may be imbued with a strange kind of wit. I hope it may make his immortality easier to bear, as merely being in his company has made mine.

4. His beauty.

5. His ability to love me. As much as I’ve chided him for his morbid romanticism, I must nevertheless be grateful for his decision to run towards the monster, as it were, rather than away from it. Had he chosen otherwise, I would doubtless have remained as I was – unknown, unloved, unloveable, a drifting revenant preying on humans but hidden from them, until eventually I ceased to desire life.

If scientists could develop an artificial blood that could sustain you would you use it? would you stop killing completely or alternate them?

thelionscrimsonclaws:

Part of the pleasure isn’t just in the blood…it’s the fine art of killing, the thrill of the hunt, the struggle, the thoughts that only my fangs in an artery can conjure. Nothing artificial can replace all of that.

Besides, I no longer thirst like some newborn fledgling and I am discriminating in my tastes. I hunt big game. The gators that lay in wait beneath the still waters, the widows in the crevices, the asp in the grass…the truly vile souls that you never see coming and will never be brought to trial.

They vanish without a trace and you want to know why? I’m the boogeyman’s boogeyman….and I’m hiding under their beds.

I may be fiction but I like to keep it real, baby!

Do certain weather conditions bother the VC vampires? Like very cold weather or very hot weather? Does it effect them like it would effect a human?

Ooooh #Vampire physiology (sending the vampire bat signal out to fellow Ricean vampire authority vampchronfic and for the non-Ricean vampires, askavampirologist).

In short, they can handle much colder temps than mortals can. Their default temperature is cold, and it seems like they prefer to be warm, since they’re only really hot right after a fresh feeding >;}

Louis has mentioned in canon that he dislikes the cold but he insists on wearing threadbare sweaters, it seems to be a form of self-punishment (and murder-husband-punishment since he knows Lestat doesn’t approve of the constant 90’s grunge/Derelicte look).

It’s not discussed in canon in huge detail, and I’m sure it varies vampire-to-vampire, so I’ll just give you Louis and Lestat answers.

In IWTV Louis would wander around, “standing in the rain like a zombie until your clothes are drenched and you smell like old wardrobe trunks in attics and have the look of a baffled idiot at the zoo.” This was probably warm rain, being NOLA. He might have been so transfixed with his new senses that he didn’t mind what might be uncomfortable for us/other vampires. Lestat certainly didn’t approve bc like “i buy you such beautiful outfits and you put them on WIRE HANGERS *ahem* no, actually, you go ruining them in the RAAAAAINNN.” *sulk*

When Lestat flies, he doesn’t mention needing to get extra bundled-up to deal with the colder air  altho i like the idea of him looking for the BIGGEST WARMEST FUR-LINED PARKAS so that when he takes to the air w/ Louis, he can cocoon them together bc awwwww…-

They seemed to enjoy the humidity and heat of NOLA. I imagine that they’re like big cats or lizards, always looking for warm spots to lounge around in to deal with their default coldness. Lestat’s always been a big fan of lighting all the candles in a room for the light, which might also be for the warmth; even one candle adds a surprising amount of heat.

Of course Louis, the pyromaniac, is really in an OTP with Fire, that should tell you smtg about the kinda temperature he prefers! ❤

So ever since I’ve seen Interview with the Vampire I’ve always wondered about a certain scene in the movie. How does Louis drink blood from that women and kiss her at the same time? Did he just bite her lip or something?

Y’know I don’t know exactly what was going on but she was in some kind of fabulous ecstasy to not try to stop him notice him basically biting her tongue and sucking on it… Supposedly Louis can Spellbind ppl w/o consciously trying, this is one of his Gifts.

…but also Lestat is doing most of the “work” for him in this scene, she’s probably reacting to that more.

I don’t think there are any major arteries in the mouth that he could have hit, so it’s just, IDK, tongue blood. And he is spilling some. Seems like alot of effort and not much dinner for him. When we see her mouth again, her lips look a little bloody but not damaged, so he was either biting her tongue or the inside of her mouth somewheres. #kinda ew
