Hi dear! I love your blog, this is exactly what I needed my entire pre-tumblr life. I am in the fandom since 2004 when I was 12! Back then it was all guerilla style fandom I think 🙂 But VC gave me taste for certain aesthetics for life and great friends/vampire family back then. Comforted me when I needed it the most. Just wanted to say that your wonderful blog reminded me a lot of that love. thank you. ❤

I love these kind of stories, when and how we became addicted fell into this, how we found each other and what keeps us here. Welcome this fresh blood, everyone!

I had an interview today. They asked me what I read recently, and I immediately said Vampire Chronicles with no regrets. Both of the interviewers were fans, and we gushed for two minutes. I think VC helped me into college.

awwwwww, I love it when VC brings ppl together!

VC also won over a work person for me. We started off on fairly bad footing, and over time, I let out little hints that I was into VC. She reciprocated, and eventually we became friends over it! We no longer work together but she is one my fave ppl. We thank Lestat for the gift of bringing us together!

// An amazing writer, she can play just about anyone and always excels in bringing their voice to life. Especially with Spike, hell, he even sounds more like he ought to than on the show, given she’s actually English and knows how to use ‘bloody’ and other important words.

I’d recommend following her to anyone and everyone. Go play with her! Send her asks, start threads, plot stuff, she’s absolutely wonderful and always finds a way to make things work so it’s great for everyone involved. No ooc drama, just ic fun and quality entertainment here. New to tumblr RP like I am, but if you can persuade her to play with you, go do it!

Also, I can and could and have and will say about a billion more things, because apart from being a very talented writer and funny and sweet person, she also happens to be my girlfriend. So, yeah, people, she’s all that plus hot and mine. I’m so lucky.

// Where do I even begin? Let’s start like this. I played Nicolas on another platform and some kind soul linked me to a drabble on tumblr, written by @a-misunderstanding-my-love, because it reminded them of my Nicolas. I agreed and proceeded to quite literally read through the entire journal.

Through that process I found out that this amazing Nicolas writer also played Gabrielle – be still my heart – and then of course a perfect iteration of the one and only Brat Prince. I also discovered some of the other great writers that way and I finally decided that, yeah, this might make it worth giving tumblr RP a try. So I messaged her and asked if she’d be interested in playing with me and she was even so kind as to help me get started by explaining what to do and showing me the ropes a little.

Then the fun really started. But yes, what to say about her? I don’t know her that long yet, but already it feels weird if we don’t at least talk for a bit every day. She’s helped make me feel welcome from the time on when I was just someone who was a great fan of her writing and desperate to interact and now we get to have fun in various threads and just by talking to each other.

That she’s a talented writer is an understatement. Obviously her writing was enough to make me want to brave tumblr, so that should speak for itself. She always manages to make me laugh or want to cry or even make me angry – at her character for the flaws she portrays so well – often all of that within just a few lines. She knows so much about canon and fandom, she’s witty and sarcastic and sweet, fascinating and experienced and always a joy to talk to. I admire her deeply and I’m pleased to no end that I actually get to write with her.

A cranky bitch, a seductive queen and a great friend, all in one person. ❤

Almost 3 books later and that’s the story of how I became obsessed with murderous vampire husbands.

OMG THIS 8 YR OLD’S OPINION OF IWTV:  “I don’t really know what’s happening but I like it.”

^Fair enough, kid!Kota. Fair enough.

Seeing maledictum10’s submit made me feel old… so old.

fairytalesgoneawry submitted:

So…. in 1996 I was in middle school and had a friend over and my dad “caught” us watching IWTV in my room – of course it was the version that was (heavily) edited for TV but that didn’t occur to him so he actually took the TV out of my room so that we couldn’t watch anything else. Well I wanted to know how the damn movie ended so I convinced my mother to let me rent (on VHS, btw) the original movie (which was way more graphic than the version we had been watching).

Then, at the middle school I was attended, they let you read any book you wanted for the reading requirement as long as you read a certain number of pages per day. So I’m in the library that was attached to the school and – whoa – IWTV! So I picked that book to read for my middle school reading requirement. And when I  was done with that I asked my mom to buy for me TVL… My mom was *thrilled* because I had been homeschooled for a few years and even though I whizzed through math text books, I *hated* reading and always did the bare minimum. My father was less thrilled and threw my copy of TVL in the trash several times.

So, my mother, bless her heart, calls up a local book store and asks them to put one of every Anne Rice book on hold for her – because she thinks Anne Rice ONLY wrote The Vampire Chronicles. Apparently without really looking at what she was buying, she has the book store put all the books on hold into a bag and ring them up….. and THAT is how my mother accidentally bought me smut when I was in middle school.

I’d finished all the vampire chronicles that were out in time for TVA which came out one week before my 14th birthday in 1998 (I was gifted three copies – I probably should have thought to ask for more than just that book…).

Seeing phrases like “I was sucked into the VC obsession hellhole when I was 14” and “Once I finished TotBT on January 22, 2012” in the same sentence make me feel positively ancient! Buuuut I couldn’t be happier, of course, that there are so many new and young fans. We can always use the fresh blood.  😉

^Yeah, it makes me feel a bit old, too, similarly, I’d read #1-4 by 1994. #5 (Memnoch the Devil) was my first fresh one. But hey, I’ve aged like a fine wine!

^LOUIS OMG RUDE I know it gets cold so quickly but show a little respect!

Well, as you know #I love these kind of stories. We may be old, but I think we got to experience the VC in a unique way. Like you, I was at the age when I could yearn for a new VC book and then get excited asking for it as a birthday present or going to the bookstore to pick it up. I didn’t like the feel of new hardcovers, though. Preferred the paperbacks, as they had a more friendly handfeel and pleasant scent.

@pour-some-aspartame-on-me submitted:

I was sucked into the VC obsession hellhole when I was 14. I had read Dracula and proclaimed it as one of my favourite books before I had even finished it. When I told my dad this, he recommended the strange and mystical books I had seen my parents reading as I grew up, “The Vampire Chronicles.” I could barely put IWTV down once I started it. I finished it in a week, which was the fastest I had ever read a book of that size before. My parents had the first four books as a boxset, and I thought those were the only ones in the series. Once I finished TotBT on January 22, 2012, I was really sad, and on the 24 I heard of TVA. I quickly found out there were actually 10 books. I’m still a little mad that my parents neglected to tell me because they knew there were more than four books, and didn’t tell me.

i-want-my-iwtv your blog is the reason I started reading the vampire chronicles. The fact that you just followed me made my day.

Post your thoughts as you go. As much as we love this series, one can never recapture the things we felt/thought the first time thru, the feel of something new. Hopefully we haven’t spoiled you too badly.

Your URL implies that the spoilage is already deep… well. What is a “slut” but a sensualist? Someone with a lust for life! That’s our Lestat alright.

Just wanted to say that you have an amazing blog! When I first finished IWTV and TVL I feared any fandom that had grown out of these amazing books had long since died. Low and behold this amazing blog turned up on the first google search! I’ve never seen such a positive and artistically gifted fandom with such a nice and thoughtful mod. Thank you for really spreading the love!

Merci beaucoup mon pamplemousse!  Welcome to our little corner of tumblrland ^______^

What a lovely thing to say *flails* Hard to believe this blog is a top google result, that is some kind of accomplishment indeed! The truth is that the VC fandom has been alive and well for a looooong time, but hiding from the light of day due to AR’s war on fanfic during the 90′s. We’ve all slowly come up out of the woodwork and Prince Lestat encouraged even more of us to step into the light, it ushered in the fresh blood, too: ppl who had seen one of the movies or read a few of the books AND NOW WE ARE ALL FRICKIN’ GATHERING HERE. TOGETHER AT LAAAAAST.

We really do have some unbelievably talented VC fanartists, writers, thinkers, RPers, cheerleaders, musicians (yes musicians, too!), etc. I consider myself an addict of all of it, and I curate it all so we can all squee over it, be inspired by each other, and most importantly, MAKE MOAR.

What a great platform this is, with the ease of fanwork sharing, whether it’s fanmix, fanart, fanfic, meta discussion, RP, VC news linkage, and so much more. What an incredible time to join the fandom, right when it’s having its greatest renaissance in the fandom’s history ❤

Messages like yours keep this blog a-thrive. See what I did there? omg i am the Queen of Cheese. WHATEVER IT’S CUTE AS HELL & I AM CUTE AS HELL

uh hi.I adore your blog, its funny and real cool. When I was little I can remember watching IWTV and QOTD (queen of the damned.Justincase) With my parents, and that totally got me into all the cool Vampire stuff.
