But once I’ve put out thy light… I cannot give it vital breath again. Its needs must wither.
It all starts with a comment from EW interviewer Jeff Giles, covering Pitt’s career movie by movie, that the actor looks miserable in “Interview.”
“I /am/ miserable,” Pitt said. “Six months in the f—ing dark.”
“I’m telling you, one day it broke me. It was like, ‘Life’s too short for this quality of life.’ I called David Geffen, who was a good friend. He was a producer, and he’d just come to visit. I said, ‘David, I can’t do this anymore. I can’t do it. What will it cost me to get out?’ And he goes, very calmly, ‘Forty million dollars.’ And I go, ‘OK, thank you.’ It actually took the anxiety off of me. I was like, ‘I’ve got to man up and ride this through, and that’s what I’m going to do.’ ”
…Still, he says he doesn’t necessarily regret “Interview with a Vampire.”
“I don’t lament the failures,” he said. “The failures prepare you for the next one. It’s a step you needed to take, and I’m all for it.”
The sitting room setee – this would be the couch Claudia positioned the poisoned boys on
the piano in the back of the parlor – in the film it was angled differently with the windows to the back but in the same back corner of the parlor
Dinner setting in the kitchen adjacent to the courtyard
the duo desk in the parlor that Lestat threw himself upon following the poisoning
2nd floor desk/library – likely would have been Louis’ domain
the vanity table in Lestats room
Lestat’s bed – note the dramatic canopy
Louis’s bed – note how much simpler/no frills it is
Claudia’s bedroom (sorry for the angle, it was closed off for renovations). She had her own bed with a mini canopy, a sitting area with 2 chairs and a table, and 2 floor length windows to the balcony.
the desk in Louis’ room – it was next to a floor length window which opened up to the balcony that he shared with Claudia (they could open the window and walk out onto the balcony together)
A handful of my photos from The Gallier house AKA Rue Royale.
This is the French Quarter home that Anne Rice based Louis Lestat and Claudia’s home on, and I had chills walking through the entire building. Much love to @i-want-my-iwtv for making me aware of the location. It was fantastic to visit.
I have captioned each photo with where/how they played into the series, based on my interpretation, the floor plan, and where things were angled in the film. If you want to see anymore of the photos I took/the explanations behind them, send me a message and I will make you another set.
Little fun fact about the house – everything green you see here (including the front of the house/the balcony railings) was originally dyed/painted with a color called Paris Green, that was primarily made of arsenic. The homes often killed their occupants within 10 years of arsenic poisoning, but for a bunch of vampires, it was perfectly fine.
(You can see Louis’ bedroom chair and table through the door in this gif!)
This is so amazing! One of my dreams is to go to New Orleans. I’m in love with that city, and I want so bad to visit that house! But I know it will be hard and difficult for me to go there since I’m far away from United States and I have no money! But I know I’ll be there some day, for now this photo set has made me really happy! Thank you for sharing this with the Fandom! 🌼
Lol he would be the BIGGEST crybaby about that! He’d probably think of himself as deformed in some way and need even more cuddling and ego-stroking to get over it.
Considering vampire physiology, some things are “corrected” by the Dark Gift. All of their senses become enhanced. Gabrielle got a nice rack lift.
It won’t regrow some missing parts, like eyes (Maharet), a leg (Flavius), or a cut-out tongue (Mekare). I’m not sure as to whether vision would be corrected.
Lestat didn’t mention his vision being an issue, and he would have needed good vision to be a good hunter as a mortal, maybe not 20/20, but good enough. It’s interesting to consider, tho!
…And then, he did lose an eye at one point, and I like to headcanon that even though he got it back, that eye was never quite the same.
I’m “kind of an awesome vc expert”? Awww, that’s very generous of you
❤️ I’m not special I’ve just read all these books and talked about them for like 20 yrs ;,D
I don’t think that AR has ever canonically stated what happens if a vampire eats/tries to eat food… I’m not even sure if it’s canon of fanon at this point but I headcanon that they can swallow little sips of liquids other than blood. But not much.
^This is from What We Do in the Shadows, and it’s probably not projectile vomiting like this for Ricean vampires… but it’s hilarious (but GROSS) so WATCH IT (if you can handle the gross). For these and the Ricean vampires, eating people food is bad, but not lethal.
Ricean vampires lose alot of digestive anatomy when they’re turned. So their bodies just can’t metabolize food. Cooking smells are repulsive to them, as Louis describes it in IWTV:
“The slightly nauseating smell of cooking meat… I caught the sweet smell of the spices and the fresh green of marjoram and bay; and then in a wave came the horrid smell of the cooking meat, the blood and flesh decaying in the boiling fluids.“
So if they were to try a bite of a plate of food, it might be like trying to force yourself to eat something inedible, like an old soapy sponge. Unless you’re really determined to eat a thing, you’ll want to spit it out.
I would guess that eating a whole plateful of food would just make them throw it back up, no enjoyment in or out 😛
Not sure about other vampires, like The Vampire Diaries, Tru Blood, 30 Days of Night, Daybreakers, etc.
I seem to recall the Lost Boys vampires were able to eat Chinese food? I don’t remember.
