They could not be raised any more differently, if you ask me. Dan/Ar baby would be practically feral considering both parents were pretty wacky during their time together. Les/Ar baby is literallythe worst.
Poor Dan/Ar baby! I think they’d forget to feed it… and the Les/Ar baby would be a holy error. And a holy terror! Both.

I’m using a pic of Yvette from movie!IWTV bc our Yvette was originally inspired by movie!IWTV’s Yvette, who some of us headcanon grew up with Louis and was more of a sister to him than his own sister. That they genuinely cared about eachother. In our fic,
Yvette is a baker par excellence, grew up with Louis, and they even were a couple at one point. That’s long over now, but they’re very good friends.

Omg I’m not touching this debate, with all the Armand/Daniel and Armand/Marius shippers out there ready to fight me one way or the other, and the fact that Marius is very problematic. Not taking a side on this one.
I’ve never been wildly passionate about any of the three of those characters, personally, so you might ask RPers for those characters what they might say. Might be some active Armands on this post.
I can understand both ships, and I can appreciate variations of them in canon and fanworks. Best for me to leave it at that.

Well… your message sat in my inbox for 5 days bc this is a question every reader has to answer for themselves. It partly depends on how much canon you’ve read.

IWTV is Louis’ account of their time in that era, and as @vraik astutely pointed out, Louis admits that he’s holding back information when he says “If I held something too close for you to ask about it, I would not bring it up in the first place.” Lestat says as much near the end of TVL, that Louis left many things out. *~Unreliable narrators!~*
And movie!IWTV had even less of what Louis says in the book, because it had to be edited for the sake of time… many scenes in the book were not in the movie. Also, it was made in the early 90′s, keep in mind that it pushed the envelope for its time re: showing any homosexuality.
tl;dr: I ship Louis/Lestat, I don’t need to define my ship as romantic, sexual, or platonic, etc. I just hardcore ship them TOGETHER.

While they don’t “date” in canon, Louis talks about Lestat in IWTV with a lot of fascination, and later, Lestat writes about Louis with a lot of fascination, too (more, really!)… and they don’t actually kiss in canon until the 3rd book, right before Lestat’s big concert, and then they’re separated again soon after. It’s a ship that takes alot of Read Between the Lines.
Most of the vampires who are turned in canon are turned bc their makers love them so much that they can’t let their loved one be perishable any longer. Whatever Louis’ perception was of IWTV!Lestat, it seems clear to many of the fandom that Lestat chose Louis for more than his wealth and/or friendship, and that now, in later canon, the feelings between them are mutual.
AR answered this in 2014 when she was answering #Fan Questions for Lestat, in which she RP’d Lestat admitting that Louis would be his “Forever Companion.”
There was an article out in 2012 that had some varied comments worth reading about it: Anne Rice confirms that the vampires Louis and Lestat are a same-sex couple with a child.
io9: There’s the concept of Louis and Lestat as Claudia’s “parents,” which we see in the novel, movie and now in the graphic novel. When you know the narrative, it’s not quite the modern statement it could appear to be visually, in the adaptation. Are you okay with that as an idea for the new century?
AR: Sure! [Laughs] Sure! I never thought of it, they were the first vampire same-sex parents.

No matter how hard you ship Louis and Lestat you will never ship Louis and Lestat as hard as Lestat does.
You know what I’d like to see?
More fictional couples where the whole Belligerent Sexual Tension thing actually plays out the way it does in reality.
Struggling not to crack a smile as you call them a total asshole.
Deliberately feeding each other straight lines for insulting comebacks, and thinking you’re being subtle about it.
Managing to pronounce “fuck you” as a term of endearment.
Getting really territorial about it when you see anybody else badmouthing them – like, excuse me, that’s my prerogative you’re treading on there, pal.
Also:
Acting theatrically offended by extremely minor flaws.
Telling each other to shut up when you didn’t even say anything yet.
Having entire arguments so well-practiced that you can set your partner off with a single word or gesture, and doing so on purpose.
Being deliberately rude and obnoxious to each other in really dorky ways and competing to see who breaks character by cracking up laughing first.
Can someone make Garrett Borns a vampire? Please? He’s so beautiful, and has the voice of an angel. I think he’d make a gorgeous Louis.

Also, as a side note, he’s 24 yrs old in 2016, so we’d have an actor playing really close to the canon age of the character!!! which is always good, bc he’s actually living that point in his life now, might be a little more authentic than reflecting back on it.
So he’s a singer and a model, and I looked up a few vids and couldn’t choose just one as an example. You can do the youtube and check him out there, but here’s a few things I had thoughts on:
[X] ^LOOKIT THIS SMILE. He has dimples which I think is a huge plus. Louis is, in fact, capable of smiling. I imagine Lestat made him wear the shades bc of reasons.
Lestat: “Oh, big Beatles fan? You like John Lennon so very much? Why don’t you wear shades like his, here- ”
Louis: “Those are more ELTON John than John Lennon, Lestat.”
Lestat: “Put them on or I’ll put them on for you.”
^His little smile, in this dreamy lighting, he’s got that ethereal quality we require in a Louis.
^”Oh god Lestat, what fresh hell have you caused?” He’s got the right build, too, that muscular but spare body.
