Goblin & Quinn
[Anne Rice]

Cat twins are creepy – especially when they are wearing the same dress & open elevators of blood.

“In the flesh, in the flesh all wisdom begins. Beware the thing that has no flesh. Beware the Gods, beware the idea, beware the devil.” – Maharet
-Anne Rice “Queen of the Damned”
You remember correctly! AR had suggested casting the same actor for the role 2/16/17:

Also Anne can you please spell it Nicolas w/o the H? Plz? *cries*
Lestat did compare Nicki and Louis, and there are similarities and differences, I think AR was just curious about it as an idea… I’m sure this has been done in live theatre at some point, casting one actor for 2 (or more) roles in a given production. She did say she’d want a talented, versatile actor who could create each role distinctively. Twins could probably create distinctive personalities but they would probably still look basically the same.
However, that “twin” comment from TVL was more about their personalities than physical resemblance:
I fell fatally in love with Louis, a young dark-haired bourgeois planter, graceful of speech and fastidious of manner, who seemed in his cynicism and self destructiveness the very twin of Nicolas.
Nicki’s face is not really described, aside from his having brown eyes. Louis is described in much more detail: narrow face, wide-set green eyes, wavy/curly black hair.
Louis and Nicki are not the same. I feel like looking the same would overpower distinctive personality differences.
Played by the same actor or identical twins, I feel like it would seem too much like “Louis”/”Nicolas” is trying to trick Lestat, a weird consideration I’d rather not have introduced.
…But let’s have the Sprouse twins audition anyway and let’s take one of them!
Since the @vcsecretgifts Holiday ‘16 exchange was so fruitful, I thought I’d ask if there was any interest in a Spring ‘17 exchange… you want in?

We would likely have the due date be between late-April to mid-May, and the theme would be Spring or “Maker’s Day” (a sort of vampiry mother/father’s day, hmm?).
Times like these call for more fanworks ❤ I consider it a brief bit of relief for those who go out and fight the good fights, whether that’s in your own lives, or for society as a whole, and everything else!
(*There is only one Holiday ‘16 gift outstanding, substitute gift is in the works… but next time around we will allow more time to make the gifts and we will have substitute gifters lined up earlier, too.)
That doesn’t mean the vampires hate New Mexico, lol, even tho I don’t remember it being mentioned anywhere else in canon other than QOTD, either.
The only reference I see of New Mexico in QOTD is a very passing mention by a mortal (a bad guy) who’s dying: “Paralyzed, couldn’t move, thinking he was a kid again on a farm or something in New Mexico. Just baby talk.”
That wasn’t unfavorable (being mentioned by a dying bad guy doesn’t mean all ppl who had a childhood there will turn out to be bad guys), and doesn’t represent that the vampires hate New Mexico.

^Here’s a gif of Claudia playing w/ her food bc it’s similar to the scene in QOTD, someone else is playing w/ their food a little.
Keep in mind that there’s a lot of canon that takes place in other places and time periods. New Mexico was admitted into the US in 1912 [so sayeth Wiki] idk if there were vampires there before or after that, but there may have been restrictions about crossing the border before 1912. Also, travel for leisure is a relatively modern thing. In fact, Louis doesn’t mention any travel for leisure during IWTV, the three of them just stayed in New Orleans for 65 years? It’s possible.

Valid question! No, I don’t see it as being rude to show appreciation to fanart by reblogging it and tagging it w/ Tumblrand Hyperbole™
as follows:
“#stealing this for my fandom”
That was the tag I came up with when I first started wanting to reblog fanart from other fandoms (or original characters) that could also pass for fanart in our fandom, so that I could keep it separated from the “#fanart” tag I try to keep purely VC. I don’t think I even use it that often.
It’s Tumblrand Hyperbole™ for me to say I’m “stealing” it. I’m not literally stealing anything; when I reblog things like that, I don’t even add visible comments like, “OMG THIS LOOKS LIKE ARMAND” or anything like that, which could be considered kinda rude. When people then reblog it from me, they can add comments and/or tag it however they want (in fact, there are people who do reblog these kinds of posts and original posts from me and add visible comments like, “THIS IS SO [X CHARACTER IN OTHER FANDOM]”) and I don’t mind at all, bc this is a social media platform and people like to add comments to engage w/ others here.
Whatever my tags or reasons for reblogging something, it’s still true that Reblogging gets that fanart more attention than a Like. I’m still promoting that fanartist. Especially when I’m NOT adding any visible commentary that would detract from their artwork.
Side note: I have never received a message from any active fanartist asking me why I tagged one of their works "#stealing this for my fandom,“ and I would happily remove the tag upon request.
What if someone sees the fanart bc I reblogged it and decides to follow that fanartist? The fanartist gains a new follower! Yay! What if that fanartist also offers commissions? I’m advertising their work! And maybe they’ll be willing to draw fanart for our fandom, since the character we would want might be similar to something they’ve already drawn.
There are many similar-looking characters out there, just as there are many similar-looking people out there. Francoise Brunelle did a series of strangers who look like twins. Here’s one example (which I picked bc they’re cute, but there are more identical pairs to choose from) [X]:

There are also websites like https://twinstrangers.net/, and http://www.ilooklikeyou.com/. I’m sure there are more.
TL;DR: What I’m doing when I’m ”#stealing this for my fandom" is actually remarking on the uncanny resemblance that character(s) has to ours. There are plenty of auburn-haired teens in all kinds of media. If I choose to reblog fanart of one of them, it’s out of appreciation and I’m still promoting that fanart.
Oooh merci! It was your birthday, too? Same to you, cosmic twin!

^These boys are probably not twins but they are dressed identically so like WHATEVS it works I am using these lovely bday messages as an excuse to dust off some gifs!
