Printed in Playboy magazine, January 1979, By Anne Rice
The book “Interview with the Vampire” as published form represents only a portion of the tapes of that interview made by the reporter. Louis told the young man much that was not included, particularly with regard to the master vampire, Armand, whom he had met in Paris. One tale was Armand’s account of his methods of seduction; that is, the art of the vampire at its peak in the year 1876.
(Someone kill me, this is one of the sexiest things I’ve ever read, and I just keep thinking of Louis retelling this to Daniel and GODDAMN).
ooc; I love how Armand calls himself Gentleman Death in this. What a Lestat poser.
I love this though, and somehow always forget it exists.
It also pleases me that it goes along with my headcanon that there were things Louis told Daniel that didn’t get put in the book.

Anne Rice’s ‘Vampire Chronicles’ Takes Flight at Universal
Setting up a potential “Twilight”-like franchise, Universal Pictures has acquired movie rights to Anne Rice’s novels in “The Vampire Chronicles” series for Brian Grazer and Imagine Entertainment.
YOU GUYS.
According to Variety, Universal Pictures has acquired the production rights to multiple books in Anne Rice’s beloved Vampire Chronicles series, apparently including but not limited to The Vampire Lestat.
The first screenplay they mention within the article is an adaptation of Tale of the Body Thief, which you’ll remember is actually written by Anne’s son Christopher Rice.
The article mentions Interview with a Vampire and the latest book in the series, Prince Lestat, which raises the question of a remake of the Brad Pitt/Tom Cruise version of Interview we’ve all come to adore in its be-wigged glory.
Imagine President Erica Huggins will oversee the films for Imagine Entertainment, Bobby Cohen will be executive producer, and Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are onboard to produce. The latter two are also known for teaming up on multiple projects such as Transformers, Now You See Me, Cowboys and Aliens, and Star Trek Into Darkness
which worries me just a little. No word yet on any release dates, but since Body Thief sounds like maybe it’s already being worked on, that might be the first to go, I’m not sure.
So. Thoughts? Dreamcasts? General freaking out? Hit me up at my askbox and let me know.
WHAT? WHAAAAAT?
I would love to see a film version of The Vampire Lestat (as long as it was better than Queen of the Damned), but … aaaugh! I am wary of that production team, who would write the script, and dear G-D, so many possible casting pitfalls.
Anne Rice shared your review of Prince Lestat on her page. I love it. It is a crack fic. Rose is a Mary Sue (a good one). The whole story is fanfiction. Just shows how much she loves her characters.
I JUST SAW THAT! The startled noise I made alarmed the RealHusband.

ooc; Who would have guessed that Lestat and Nicki were lovers? I mean, we got a fade to black with them and then received every detail about the blood on Amadeo’s ass from Marius’ whip.
Jesus fucking… THAT’S IT! THAT’S FUCKING IT!
ooc; Nicholas.

Yep, the director alludes to it in the commentary; and then there’s an interview I read with her about the film; she said that she publicly refused to be attached to it when she heard the casting, but then saw the test reel and redacted everything she said. But she still thought the ending was, I forget her exact words, something along the lines of “a pulp horror ending” or something like that.
I don’t remember anything about how she felt about movie!IWTV’s ending, but yeah, there was a whole thing about the Cruise casting, and she certainly changed her tune.
AR’s actual words re: Tom here: http://www.angelfire.com/ri/cerat/AnneOnTom.html
She went from:
“The Tom Criuse casting is just so bizarre, it’s almost impossible to imagine how it’s going to work, and it’s really almost impossible to imagine how Neil, David and Tom could have come up with it. I have one question: Does Tom Criuse have any idea of what he’s getting into? I’m not sure he does. I’m not sure he’s read any of the books other than the first one, and his comments on TV that he wanted to do something scary and he loved “creature features” as a kid, well, that didn’t make me feel any better. I do think Tom Cruise is a fine actor. [But] you have to know what you can do and what you can’t do.“
– an interview with Martha Frankel, published in Movieline (Jan/Feb 1994)
To:
“ON TOM CRUISE: From the moment he appeared Tom was Lestat for me. He has the immense physical and moral presence; he was defiant and yet never without conscience; he was beautiful beyond description yet compelled to do cruel things. The sheer beauty of Tom was dazzling, but the polish of his acting, his flawless plunge into the Lestat persona, his ability to speak rather boldly poetic lines, and speak them with seeming ease and conviction were exhilarating and uplifting. The guy is great.
Brad Pitt was really successfull as Louis, because Brat Pitt hated the movie and hated everybody.

Casual reminder that Anne Rice once tried to put out a frivilous lawsuit against a new orleans restaurant while acting incharacter as Lestat.
“Anne replied with another full page ad written by Lestat! In it ‘Lestat’ said "Mr. Copeland, nothing short of your indescribable restaurant could shock me out of my torpor and my coma. I am now myself again. It is nothing short of a stroke of genius on your part to create a restaurant that will be immortalized in history, legend and literature.” “
^SO WE HAVE THIS COPELAND GUY TO THANK FOR THE SERIES CONTINUING AND BECOMING THE VAMPIRE CRACKICLES GDI.
My favorite part:
” “a whole brigade of revelers appeared wearing plates of rice and beans around their waists, promoting a dish they called Red Beans Anne Rice”. Obviously fun times were had by all as everyone pointed and laughed.“

someone showed this to Anne Rice. She apparently likes my cosplay of Amadeo. O___O
I almost fainted.
HOLY COW THAT’S FANTASTIC!
