Kind of an “out there” question, and I’m unsure if anyone has asked, but how do you think Lestat would get along with Batman villains like, for example, Harley and Joker.

That is kind of an “out there” question, but intriguing! I’m sorry that I’m not familiar enough w/ the Batman villains to answer that

(here’s a wiki list), I’ve seen most of the movies but haven’t read the comics or had serious discussions about the characters, but I’ll open it up to the group. Anyone have answers for anon? @queenofthesavagegarden uses Margot Robbie as the FC for their genderbent Lestat muse, Lestel, and so that mun/muse may have opinions about how the recent Harley Quinn bears a striking resemblance to Lestel (or the other way around).

^Here’s fanart of Marius and Armand dressed up as the Dynamic Duo by @askvampnesia (aka @vampirebarons)

As a side thought: I headcanon that Lestat loves all the superhero movies, being a Sam Spade fan. Intellectually stimulating or just brawling or anything in between, he loves it all! I headcanon that, even though it was an older movie and thus lacking in the SFX we have today, Lestat really loved the Reeve!Superman where Superman was given the chance to give up his powers, and how that went very badly, and Superman had to then get them back in order to save the day.

Lestat would also probably have superhero costumes of his own and fly around in them. Would he wear a mask? Hmmm… Gonna need to see some costume ideas. #FANART REQUEST #FANFIC REQUEST.

Dear Lestat, I’m deathly sick with the flu and my temp is 102.7. Drawing fanart of you, Louis, and Armand kind of distracts me for a while, lol. Have any tips to get better? Also, have you ever tried hot blood before? Just wondering if you’d find it great or nasty.

[//ooc; If you are in fact deathly ill, please seek medical attention! This is just a fandom blog.]

♛Serious viral illness is one thing I definitely do not miss about being human. Although, the remedies for these, many of them didn’t exist in my time. Humidifiers! Detox baths! Electrolyte drinks in every color of the rainbow! Medications! We had bone broth and soup, herbal teas.

You asked about hot blood, well, human blood is naturally the same as normal human body temperature at about 98.6°

Fahrenheit, which happens to be a perfectly palatable temperature for vampires. I think we sense it as hotter than that, since

mortals tend to enjoy coffee between 120°-140° Fahrenheit.

A little internet research tells me that:

  • Cat and dog blood is close to human blood, at 101-102.5° F.
  • Rat blood is a little less at 96.6-99.5° F. Imagine my poor Louis drinking what is essentially cold, stinky – and furry – coffee for some four years? Disgusting.
  • Hotter than that… I’ve never measured it but I’m certain our vampiric blood is far hotter than mortal blood. I’ll have to ask Fareed. It tastes hotter. The internet tells me the boiling point of blood is 212° F, and I would believe it if Fareed told me our temperature was near to that.

I’ve never boiled blood or experimented with it to taste, but @roselioncourt certainly has been intrigued by working with blood in the kitchen. Any thoughts on this, ma cocotte? I bought her a cute little chef hat and apron, matching, of course.

I think marius and louis would be ravenclaw, armand and claudia slytherin (maybe marius? depending on how you view him), lestat def gryffindor. I don’t really know about daniel

I… ;A; I didn’t read the HP books, only saw some of the movies, I had turned this over to more qualified ppl before, check out this post, (it looks like your choices almost all align with @annabellioncourt‘s!) and anyone can respond to this one, too!

But what about the VC characters as STAFF?

But also: could/would a vampire even be accepted as a student or staff member at Hogwarts? What about the fact that they’d have to take/teach all their classes at night (if they were the kind of vampire that has to sleep during the day)?

I dont know if this is interesting to you but some of the fan art or even the older pictures of Guy-Manuel and Thomas Bangalter from Daft Punk unmasked look strangely like Armand and Daniel

This is interesting to me!

^They are pretty cute! Armand (Guy-Manuel) on left, Daniel (Thomas) on right.

image

^This fanart is very them, too. Daniel (Thomas) on left, Armand (Guy-Manuel) on right. I tried to find the source, couldn’t find it, if you know, please inform me.

I think Guy-Manuel works for my headcanon of Armand, really good sass going on there. Thomas not so much for Daniel but… this pic of Thomas in a sea of keyboards and soundboards (I think I see a moog?!) seems very Daniel!

Have you seen the yuri plisetsky welcome to the madness video that came out today? If you’ve been on tumblr you probably have because it’s trending and everyone is going insane. His performance def reminded me of rockstar!Lestat

Oh wow, no, I had not been on tumblr all day today, I didn’t see it until now… thanks for sharing it, yes! Very Lestatuesque! Lestat would probably be wild about YOI.

Can we get an ice skating AU plz? Writers? Artists? #FANART REQUEST #FANFIC REQUEST.

Going off of someone’s ask about a Lestat AU Drunk History, what are your headcanons for what all the main vc characters are like drunk? What type of drunks are they? Just wondering lol

“If I want to sleep all day and drink all night, I’ll do it, damn you!”

– Lestat de Lioncourt

I’ve had this ask sitting here for far too long, Anon, I’m sorry for the delay on reply. Anyone is welcome to reblog/comment with mortal or vampire headcanons!

Also, @blood-of-the-rose posted the vampires as (alcoholic) drinks, you might want to check that out.

[^X digging up an oldie from the archive…]

1) I was thinking about something lately. I believe that for many VC readers it is hard to accept how the topics are less and less about vampiric life as they go along. I know for me it was like this. You start with IWTV, TVL and so on – vampiric autobiographies about main questions; “How did I become a vampire? How did I deal with that? How did I develop in my immortal life?”

2) But suddenly there come books as MTD, TOTBT or even the last one, where it’s not about them being a vampire. It could have even happened to a mortal. It is an adventure of its own, right? In a way at least. (I hope you understand what I mean). For me this was hard to accept and sort in. In a way it was not what I read the VC for. I was very confused at the beginning.

3) But now I think about it like that: Anne Rice’s vampires write the books themselves. They don’t think “I am a vampire so I have to act like one and can only write about my vampiric aspects.” No, they simply write about whatever happens to them or whatever fascinates them at the moment. As we are used to it when it comes to books about mortals. When we read those books we don’t think “wait, but why is this not about how they were born and what they eat and when they sleep?”

4) We accept the adventure they tell us. But vampires are supposed to just write about them being vampires. But those not. They talk simply about themselves. So theoretically Lestat could publish one day a book about tigers that he studied in Asia. I don’t know if I would read it, but what I love about the children of darkness is that they are simply themselves. Not vampires in a drawer. They take us beyond the vampiric life.

(Anon’s reading of canon is here, and anyone is welcome to comment/reblog with their ideas about it!)

I’m bipolar and I think it’s part of why I relate to lestat so much tbh, but I’m also really stable and in a place where I can just find comfort/validation in it

Thank you for sharing, Anon!

image

No pressure, but if you feel comfortable, can you share a little more about it? How did you get to be really stable? Are there specific moments in the series or aspects of the character that are relatable to you that give you comfort/validation? Thanks again for sharing *hugs*

Do you think there could be any possibility that Lestat is undiagnosed type II bipolar? I’ve noticed the same patterns in him that I see in myself, and it makes it hard to read the books recently because he is so chaotic in such an eerily familiar way that it unsettles me.

Yes, it’s quite possible that Lestat is

undiagnosed type II bipolar (is that grammatically correct? Or would you write “Yes, it’s quite possible that Lestat is undiagnosed as having type II bipolar personality disorder”?). You might want to ask some Lestat RPers for their thoughts on this, too.

image

I don’t know enough about diagnosing bipolar to say for sure what I think, in the past I’ve written that I didn’t think Lestat was bipolar specifically, but that he might have PTSD. Now, I feel like I don’t know enough about either of those to make a definitive statement. I don’t think AR has ever addressed it in any interviews, on FB, or at a booksigning. Anyone is welcome to reblog/comment on this post.

Anon: “I’ve noticed the same patterns in him that I see in myself, and it makes it hard to read the books recently because he is so chaotic in such an eerily familiar way that it unsettles me.”

I’m sorry that this makes it hard for you to read the books recently, Anon. Does anyone else out there have bipolar, or specifically type II bipolar, and have advice for Anon about this?

@mendedpixie7 wrote about Adam from Only Lovers Left Alive; and I feel like the similarity of Adam to Nicolas (and Lestat, I think, too) seems striking, and I hope this quote helps you in some small way, Anon:

The reason I love Only Lovers Left Alive is it shows that a character (Adam) can be severely mentally ill, in this case depressed and suicidal, and still be seen as lovable and capable of being loved and loving in return without being “cured” of their mental illness, and that a mentally ill character can have other attributes aside from being mentally ill while still showing the impact being mentally ill has on his personality.

Adam from OLLA is an extremely important character to me you guys.
