Here I am! I think that one of my favourite quote is.. no, well, there are so many.. but I’ll take one from “Scelti dalle Tenebre” (The Vampire Lestat). It’s taken from the Conversation between Nicolas and Lestat, one of my favourite part of the book. “Vedevo l’universo, il sole, i pianeti e le stelle, e la notte nera che si protrae in eterno. Cominciai a ridere. “. That made me feel so sick but I loved it.

Thank u! Wow, they changed the title of TVL to “Chosen by Darkness”. Wonder why? Obviously Lestat was Chosen by Darkness, claimed by it, not having the choice himself.

Google translate tells me your fave quote is:

I saw the universe , the sun , the planets and the stars , and the dark night that lasts forever . I started laughing . < You know it ! We will never know why the hell has happened , even when it will end ! > “ .

Which is different than the English version:

I saw the universe, a vision of the sun, the planets, the stars, black night going on forever. And I began to laugh. "Do you realize that! We’ll never know why the hell any of it happened, not even when it’s over!”

A big thing I remember being shocked and impressed with when I first read the VC at 11 yrs old was that Anne Rice was getting away with several cardinal sins in writing:

  • starting a sentence with “And”
  • starting a sentence with “But”
  • Adding Capital Letters Wherever it looks like it might Add Impact (we refer to these as Rice Caps)
  • So many more…

It looks like in the Italian translation, at least in that one quote you shared, has corrected the starting a sentence with “And” sin!

That, and the other changes, may be error(s) in Google translate. It’s still interesting to compare.

Comparison: Armand and cats

//My dear anon, I have not forgotten thee. This will take a little longer for I have found quite much Armand and cats have in common. I’ll upload the whole comic strip as soon as I get to finish and color it.

I have some very bad news according to my local bookstore the vampire lestat is not going to be published till 2019

(I think u mean Blood Paradise; The Vampire Lestat was published in 1985.)

We waited 7 years between Blood Canticle and Prince Lestat, not even expecting that there would ever be another VC! Supposedly they’re also working on adapting TVL and/or TOBT for the big screeeeen, so I think we can wait for BP ;]

A silly question, but would I be considered any less apart of the fandom if I haven’t read all of the books? I’ve read the main ones but many of them, especially the later ones have pretty bad reputations and I am just unsure whether I should either bother with them? I have read the first 3 A LOT and some others, too.

Not a silly question! There are 11 VC books now (13 if you include the New Tales’ Pandora and Vittorio) THATS A LOT OF STORY (just imagine this gif 11-13 times bc I don’t wanna actually throw it in 11-13 times not aesthetically pleasing)

What is being part of a fandom?

  • Everyone’s idea of this is different.
  • The short answer is simply: You’ve read enough to be part of the fandom! Welcome! I, Mater Fabuloso, decree you worthy.

As far as the later books having a bad reputation…

image

Yes! Some of them are so crazy and wildly cracky! That’s why we also call them the #Vampire Crackicles. It’s a term of endearment. The crazy is a big part of why we enjoy it. Dysfunctional vampires! The first 3-4 books in the series seem to be the more highly regarded, VC-fandom-wide, maybe bc the crazy was better woven in.

If you liked the first 3 – and some others – enough to reread them, you must also enjoy the sense of humor that’s mixed in with the angst, the love, the overall crazy! The bad-reputation VC have some silly/angsty/etc. quotes and scenes that are not to be missed (like that quote about Lestat’s foot size insecurity pfffft).

Short answer is: give it all a chance, skim if you must, and decide for yourself, it’s meant to be fun, it’s not a religion, there are no chants to memorize, you will not be quizzed next Monday ;]

Personally, and I hope this goes for others, I welcome anyone into the fandom who loves any of the characters. Maybe someone’s gateway drug was movie!IWTV. Maybe it was Claudia’s Story (graphic novel). Any combination of VC books/media counts!

I think the more VC you read, the better-informed your “headcanon” (let me explain you a thing about headcanon if you aren’t familiar with the concept) will be, as you choose which parts of (or scenes within) the series feel believable to you.

I sound like a broken record bc I write this SO OFTEN: my idea of being “part of the fandom” just means engaging in discussions about the series, making fanworks, and making friendships with ppl who share your interests. I don’t know how other fandoms behave, but that’s a summary of my positive experiences in the VC fandom.

Your recent post made me wonder – if Lestat is bad with technology like he says in the most recent book, do you think someone had to teach him how to set up a facebook account? Louis trying to show him the difference between the search bar and the status bar after he accidentally posted someone’s name for all to see? So many questions.

I imagine Lestat is excellent with technology and social networking but pretends that he isn’t for the sake of trolling, or bc he enjoys it when Louis thinks he knows something Lestat doesn’t.

Lestat likes having Louis explain things because Louis is very thorough and patient, which Lestat finds irresistibly endearing ❤

Don’t tell me you weren’t asking for this, ‘nonny, bc YOU TOTALLY WERE. I read between the lines.

Did u want this answered seriously? I spent an enormous amount of effort to answer it whimsically ^_____^

  • Lestat is an advanced level dancer and still learns new moves; he gets a thrill out of dancing solo or with others especially Louis when Lestat can grovel well enough for it. Lestat can breakdance like nobody else.
  • Armand danced as part of coven rituals, so his style was probably very animalistic, or religious, maybe “tribal” would be the best description. Later on, Daniel probably taught Armand how to dance at the clubs and bars they went to during their courtship, and that might have even bonded them more. Armand probably still incorporated the spirit of his coven-era dancing

As far as a DANCE-OFF, I doubt Armand would enter into such a battle, he would probably consider it juvenile. Armand doesn’t really feel the need to prove his standing in the current coven.

HOWEVER – if he DID decide to throw down, they would probably need an audience to decide the winner, bc their styles are so different that it would come down to crowd-pleasing rather than skill.

Heeeeelp… Meeee!! My fandoms are killing me, they stole my soul :( give me some vc love to me… Please!!! <3

IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT???

(How are your fandoms killing you?? How did they steal your soul?? Did you not offer it up willingly?!)

TBH, idk how to really transfer fandom love, it’s an intangible thing, its more of an internal feel you feel, when u participate in meta discussions, and squee, and compliment fanartists and fanfic authors, so to generate it, simply do those things! Sending a message to me certainly counts *u*

“And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.“

So, I may have gone through your entire blog. In less than a week. Ooops. Anyway, I love it! Keep up the great work!

OMG you like it that much??!! It took a week whut i need to get some more content on here STAT. Thank u, much flattered *u* This collection I’ve accumulated is addictive, isn’t it?
