I’m not proud to say this but, I was sitting on the stairs and I read your tags I laughed so hard I fell down them.

Mon Dieu! That’s a high compliment. You’re at least not too damaged to write this to me, I hope you’re ok!

Maybe next time strap yourself to the banister before reading my tags? Hahaha!

In the book (interview with the vampire) I know that Louis had a brother named Paul but didn’t he also have a sister? And in the book does he ever mention his mother or father? I can’t recall.

Yes, he had a brother Paul

[Young Man Sketching. William Bruce Ellis Ranken]

  • Louis’ brother: “He had the smoothest skin and the largest blue eyes. He was robust, not thin as I am now and was then” (IWTV) Not sure whether it’s canon or fanon but Paul was supposedly blond. He was 15 when he died, right after an argument in which Louis had laughed at him, had not believed him, and so, felt responsible for Paul’s death.

  • Louis’ sister: Unnamed (it’s fanon that her name is Henriette “Minette“ de Pointe du Lac), she played the harpsichord. After Paul died “My sister went to bed rather than face the funeral… People in society asked my sister offensive questions about the whole incident, and she became an hysteric. She wasn’t really an hysteric. She simply thought she ought to react that way, so she did…  I did come to know my sister, forbidding her the plantation for the city life which she so needed in order to know her own time of life and her own beauty and come to marry, not brood for our lost brother or my going away or become a nursemaid for our mother.”
  • Louis’ mother: Unnamed (it’s fanon that her name is

Paulette de Pointe du Lac) Louis didn’t seem to have a great relationship with his mother. When Paul died, “my mother told everyone in the parish that something horrible had happened in my room which I would not reveal; and even the police questioned me, on the word of my own mother.”

  • Louis’ father: Unnamed (it’s fanon that his name is

Aurestile Jean Michel Pointe du Lac) At the beginning of IWTV, Louis is 25, his father is dead and Louis “was head of the family and I had to defend [Paul] constantly from my mother and sister.” Defend him from their trying to get him to go out and have fun; but Paul was committed to the Bible.

You’re the Queen of tags. ;)

what’s the official tag for Vampire Chronicles? Since I’m really getting into fandoms I feel like I need to know what tag we use.

image

^J/k. It’s not just about him it’s all about him. I don’t know of an official tag but I’ve seen:

  • VC, the vampire chronicles, vampire chronicles, vampire crackickles (we mean this in a loving sorta way), the vampire crackickles, interview with the vampire, iwtv (since alot of ppl dump all VC talk in the movie title tag),

interview with a vampire (this is actually incorrect but whatevs).

  • the book being referenced, so QOTD for Queen of the Damned, etc.
  • … and of course any of the character’s names, (I indicate VC characters by adding “the vampire” Armand or “the vampire” Claudia, since they don’t have last names and there are other Armands and Claudias out there I don’t think I’ve been consistent in doing that w/ minor characters like Eleni and Madeleine and such oh well.)

There is the question of whether to include “the” and I don’t when I tag my stuff. I tag stuff with everything that’s in the post plus my stream of consciousness-type comments that don’t need to be in the version that ppl reblog and maybe ppl follow me for that commentary? Plus the fanart collection? I don’t question it, I just enjoy it.

How many questions do you think you get per week?

I looooove fandom-related questions (for me or for Lestat), it’s like getting room service! ♥u♥

image

How many? It varies, sometimes none, usually 2-5…  a question or comment really does make my day night, it’s heartwarming to see this new wave of activity in the VC fandom at all, and I’m grateful to be part of it in my own little way ❤

Personal questions, tho, idk, I always feel like, do you really want to know about me? I’m always flattered! But it still feels odd.

Let’s play 5 questions…

♛Lestat laces his fingers together, stretches his arms out forward, and hunkers down with his laptop beside Louis on a small loveseat, purposely squeezing their bodies tightly together as he does so, in order to respond to paint-it-livid’s questions (thank u!)

“Louis my love, help me answer these questions, for I do so value your perspective.”

1 – What was the last song you listened to?

Lestat says: “Peter Gabriel – My Body is a Cage”

“This is a positively haunting cover of an Arcade Fire song, and when I first heard it, it brought me immediately to tears. So I played it for Louis just now, and… nothing. No reaction! He must prefer the original version because it’s an excellent song and he should have reacted appropriately.” Lestat huffs, glances at Louis, they silently debate for some long moments whether to play the song again. Louis rolls his eyes and the song is not played again.

2 – What’s getting on your nerves right now?

Pondering this, Lestat flicks a fang. So many minor things. “Louis keeps making stacks of books and periodicals and it’s like walking around a little doll set of skyscrapers, he’s forcing me to nag him about picking up after himself.”

Louis adds: “Well, half of those stacks are actually your piano and guitar chord books, which you piled up, dearest.”

“Touché.”

3 – Most visited website?

“This is an easy one. Youtube. I can be satisfied with hours of music, and see musicals and other performances we might otherwise not be able to attend, so many travel videos during sunlight to enjoy…” Lestat trails off, a wistful look in his eye.

Louis adds: “Those are good, we do spend alot of time on that site. He also loves tutorials. Particularly the fashion and

makeup variety. And he tests the techniques on me, when I’m in the mood for it.”

“Especially the Guyliner, Louis!” Lestat elbows him, attempting to impress Louis with the slang.

“Yes, calm down, I’m aware of the term.”

4 – Do you believe in love at first sight?

They exchange a glance. “Bien sûr!” Lestat said, quite sure of himself.

Louis adds: “I never believed in it before meeting Lestat, and even then, I was so out of… not myself… that I wasn’t sure then if it was love I felt for him or just a simple desire to hold and keep him with me, for as long as possible.”

“Is that not love, my love?”

“I was under duress at the time.”

“Was some of that duress my charming self, my love?”

Louis sighs softly, a smile growing across his face. “I suppose it qualifies.”

Lestat smirks, more than a little triumphantly.

5 – Which is better: hugs or kisses?

“Oh, they both have their benefits, to be sure,” Lestat considers, snaking his arm around Louis and giving him a gentle squeeze. “They’re different forms of intimacy… hugs are more for greeting and departure…would snuggling count as a form of hugging? Because I definitely require that.”

“Snuggling is… probably considered hugging, it’s bodies held together, no?”

“Oui, that it is, very scientific of you, Dr. de Pointe du Lac.” Lestat teases, assuming a stern expression and tone before breaking into a smile.

“But kissing has a language of its own, it’s about appreciation, reverence, a deeper connection…” Lestat eyes Louis’ lips as he speaks, growing more than a little interested.

“Kissing need not only be on the mouth, you know,” Lestat says, before making a trail of light kisses starting at Louis’ ear, tracing down the jawline. Louis twists, offering more access.

Louis smiles coquettishly at Lestat, pulling him closer: “Hugs or kisses? But why not both?

Did Louis actually visit Lestat in IWTV when Lestat went back to New Orleans to rot in his house? Because Lestat didn’t mention that Louis had visited him in “The vampire lestat”. Lestat only said that Armand visited him and that he knew that Louis was in New Orleans. Thanks for clearing up :)

Ooooh good question! In IWTV, Louis says that he did visit Lestat (and it was in the movie).

image

We actually don’t know if it happened :-

  1. book!IWTV has Louis following a young vampire to Lestat’s door.
  2. In the Tale of the Body Thief, Lestat says it never happened.

We have discrepancy in canon. Your headcanon may be that it happened, and someone else’s may be that it didn’t. With Louis’ book, was he telling his tale to try to call out Lestat? Maybe he knew that inventing a scene like this might provoke Lestat to respond. If so, it worked, Lestat wrote TVL as a response to IWTV. Also, Louis told his story to Daniel, who then had to send it to his editor(s), so maybe it was invented by someone other than Louis for whatever reason.

So who do I believe? Umm, I don’t think Louis is a liar, and I don’t think anyone invented it. Lestat has said, “I never lie, at least not to those I don’t love.” which means that he DOES lie to those he loves.

I’m going w/ Louis on this and saying that it happened as Louis described it.

1. Book!IWTV:

“Because shortly after that I saw a vampire in New Orleans, a sleek white-faced young man walking alone on the broad sidewalks of St. Charles Avenue…” (this mystery vampire kills a woman and takes her baby to a shabby old house where he meets up with another vampire) “My eyes widened as I studied this stooped and shivering vampire whose rich blond hair hung down in loose waves covering his face… I saw clearly, unmistakably, the profile of Lestat, that smooth skin now devoid of even the faintest trace of his old scars.”

BTW, it’s implied that that young vampire was one of Lestat’s own fledglings (another mystery fledgling?!):

`You all leave me!’ he whined now in a thin, high-pitched voice.“

(Louis taps at the window)

…” `It’s Louis! Louis!’ he said. `Let him in’ And he gestured frantically, like an invalid, for the young `nurse’ to obey. … and I could see the tears welling in his eyes…How baffling and awful it was, this smoothfaced, shimmering immortal man bent and rattled and whining like a crone.”

2. HOWEVER…

In Tale of the Body Thief, Lestat calls Louis a liar, and I think he’s referring to the whole visit scene:

“Ah, that makes you out to be a perfect liar,” I said furiously. “You described my weeping in your miserable memoir in a scene which we both know did not take place!”

Because I saw it on your blog, I am now going to use the ouisense joke.

Pfffft so am I, bitch-dont-scream hit French Dad comedy gold on that one ;]

[Because you brought it up again, I am now going to use it in a memeything]
