Hello, darling! I stumbled upon one of your Lestat gifs. A Lestat RPR on twitter used it and I jumped when I saw it. (took a screenshot of it btw) I wanted to post it but couldn’t. (Sighs)
Hey, thank u! I’m curious as to which gif they’re using. Send me a link, or their twitter name.
I’ve said on here a looooong time ago, before I had so many followers *u*, so it was probably missed: anyone is free to use my gifs, tho I would appreciate being tagged (so I can enjoy them in their new setting) and/or being credited, bc they do take some effort to make ;]
The fact is that the gifs I make from movie!IWTV itself actually belong to the copyright holders for that movie, so I don’t have much more of a right to my gifs than the twitter RPer.
However, I tend to add the “i-want-my-iwtv.tumblr” watermark when I feel like I added/mashedup something unique enough to count as partially mine, which elevates the gif to a derivative work, rather than just a copy of the source material. Like this one, which is one of my faves:

I get that Lestat didn’t grow up with a freezer but seriously dude, its ice. You’ve been in the modern world for twenty odd years at that point.
keep in mind this is the same dork who still gets mesmerized by well-lit shampoo bottles in Wal-Mart. He has a thing for light ;]
He’d probly love this too:

At least the old GN got the outfits right, I never understood why in the books Louis always prefers solid black, but we rarely see him in it. I guess its just the film influence or that later on its assumed and generally accepted head cannon that Lestat dresses him?
Yeah, in fanon, I think we all agree when Louis looks especially fashionable, it’s because Lestat dressed him! Louis looks damn fine in torn jeans and a distressed sweater tho, tbh.
And yes, book!IWTV mentioned briefly that Louis had preferred black:
“… and it was [Claudia’s] pleading that forced me to give up my rusty black for dandy jackets and silk ties and soft gray coats and gloves and black capes. Lestat thought the best color at all times for vampires was black, possibly the only aesthetic principle he steadfastly maintained, but he wasn’t opposed to anything which smacked of style and excess.” – Interview with the Vampire
In movie!IWTV, he was already depressed enough, if he was also dressing like someone in mourning, I think it might have been harder to convince the audience why Lestat liked him at all!
Plus, his wardrobe shows a progression of his character throughout the course of the story.
- mortal Louis: wears alot of white, he still has his innocence and ability to achieve goodness in the eyes of god or whatever.
- newborn vampire Louis: is sorta uncoordinated, and awkward about killing, and still trying to be the plantation owner, clearly letting Lestat dress him for outings only.
- vampire dad Louis: is more comfortable with killing, and trying to set a good example for vampire daughter Claudia, and at this point is probably letting Lestat buy all his clothes.
- vampire accomplice Louis: is in Paris and trying to fit in there, and at this point is probably letting Claudia buy all his clothes.
- bereaved –> modern day Louis: just picks things that he’ll blend into a crowd with (that casual linen suit he wears to go to the movies).
- Louis talking with Daniel: has dressed up in severe black and white because the interview is meant to be a message to Lestat, and Louis knows Daniel will report what he’s wearing.
BONUS: Louis still has the coat that he wore when he was with Claudia in Paris:

Can you imagine how painful it would have been, returning to the hotel room he shared with Claudia, and all her clothes and accessories exactly as they were when she left it last? ;A;
You’ve been in the fandom longer than I have, so can you answer something I’ve always wondered? Did the Lestat fans go nuts when Rock of Ages came out (the movie)? Since its pretty much rock star lestat….
Exhibit A:

^Basically rock star Lestat.
Exhibit B:

More gifs/pics from RoA that I consider Lestatuesque.
As for the fandom reaction, tbh I’ve been a fan ever since the dark ages of speculative fic on geocities websites oh gawd i am old I survived the War on Fanfic from the 90’s... but I didn’t actually find the fandom as it exists now until after this movie came out (2012)!
At the time, I myself was excited along with a few RL friends who were my entire VC fandom at that time. We were pleased as punch.
I’ll speculate that the fandom ppl that loved Cruise’s Lestat (like meeee) were very psyched for RoA. Even now, I consider Cruise’s Jaxx to be an older, mortal, brunet, tattooed Lestat. That’s alot of AU there, but still.
In RoA, his character is similar to Lestat: that whole macho shell with a tender, bruised inside that just wants to be loved for who he really is. At the end of RoA, Jaxx ends up with someone who loves him for HIM, rather than the groupies who love his stage persona or want to bang him for his sexual prowess, or his money, or whatever. Same thing with Lestat. So many people want to fuck him, but very few put in the effort, or gain his trust enough to get to know who he really is inside.
- Louis i brung u les fleurs
- gorgeous fop
- these fleurs are my cutie mark Louis
- les yummy yeux
- SUIT UP
- LEATHER ‘n FUR ‘n SPIKES AWWW YISSS
- great w/ kiddies
- requisute silly face skillz
Some RPers actually already claimed him for Daniel Molloy and I have to agree w/ them, he’s very Daniel!
However, I always thought of Daniel as being similar to Lestat in appearance, and upon further very scientific research, I think Jeremy Dufour could also work as Lestat. I couldn’t find a really decent pic of him smiling in a Lestatuesque way, but a great smile is necessary, too ;]
omg VampireBarons [aka dont-forget-to-knock] what a lovely message! I am so very glad that this crazy addiction of mine has such positive impact, especially when someone like you is in need of cheering up ❤
Isn’t it kinda bizarre that most of this blog is actually pretty upbeat and silly for what the author of IWTV, and the director of the movie version of it, consider “the saddest vampires you’ll ever meet”? I mean, c’mon, these are murdering dysfunctional vampire husbands, families, blood spouses and such!
… and then you have this fandom who looks at all the characters as a bunch of preternatural hipsters who just need hugs and kisses.
One could ask what’s wrong with us. I think there’s a lot that’s right with us.
What’s the best thing about being a vampire? The worst?
The best thing about being a vampire, in my humble opinion, is the fearlessness. There’s a sense of freedom as an immortal that I never felt even in passing as a living man. I can see why so many young vampires behave recklessly when given this new lease upon their existence; consequences are marginal if one can manage to relinquish all traces of their morality as a fresh born killer. I lived in and with many fears towards the end of my life. The reality of becoming a man constructed of fragile bones and weakened organs made it immensely difficult for me to fully enjoy myself without being preoccupied by these concerns. Now I experience no fear — with certain exceptions.
The worst thing about being a vampire, which is also specific to perhaps only myself, is not just the need to seek blood. That remains an issue for me that I need to work through. What bothers me more is the inconvenience of daytime sleep. It’s forced narcolepsy. I cannot wait for the passage of time where I am finally able to remain awake without the sun dragging me into slumber. Thus far I’ve managed to pass out over my desk, inside the foyer, and halfway upon my bed. It’s not graceful or with any kind of dignity. And since someone (Lestat) thinks it’s entertaining to leave me in such awkward positions, I tend to dread the time leading up to dawn for just that reason.
Oh, my dear David. It’s your reaction waking up the next night that is utterly entertaining to behold. Start sensing when it’s time to sleep, quit reading or entertaining your company, here or at home, fast enough and you might save some dignity by falling into slumber on a bed rather a desk chair, floor, or other various ways I’ve found you..
Should I list them completely?
I’m sure your visitors would love to imagine the awkwardness of it all.
Don’t you dare or I shall never speak a word to you again.
The vampire Almond is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen in my life and I love it I can’t stop laughing thank you so much
It came from a misspelling of “Armand” from the People of the Page. They make some pretty horrendous typos, to call themselves such devoted fans.
You should probably check out thevampirealmond ;]

Hey! So I just realized you tagged me in a post like a month ago and I forgot about it. Oops. Thanks for thinking of me though! :)
No worries, I miss a number of those things when I’m tagged in them, too. Oh well!
Anyway here’s a picture of the vampire Almond, bc of reasons.
