I was thinking about that line about “new seductive, supernatural creatures”. Hopefully it doesn’t refer to the werewolves (I haven’t read those books, but as a rule Anne Rice’s crossovers suck) but maybe it just refers to new vampire characters? Hopefully.

AR has actually admitted herself that she felt her Mayfair/VC crossovers haven’t “worn well” over time. That’s what she said at the booksigning I went to back in Oct of last year.

I haven’t read the werewolves books either, but I read someone’s recap of one of them, and well… let’s just say I’m more of a VC person. I’ve read some of AR’s other books, including the Mayfairs… none of it really captured me like the VC. Siiiigh.

I fear a werewolf/VC crossover. If the ”new seductive, supernatural creatures” were other vampires, why not just write “new seductive vampires” ? Ghosts would be fine, or even unicorns, or mermaids! Just not werewolves, omg. Let Underworld and Twilight mix werewolves and vampires.

My very specific fear is a Louis/werewolf thing. I hope his response would be as follows:

That horrible, gut-wrenching feeling that your favorite character in a series is going to die.

I will set fire to Anne Rice’s entire life if she kills off Daniel.)

I will supply an endless supply of matches.

Fandom secret: It’s me. I am The Voice telling vampires to set everything on fire. )

I thought with fire it’d be Louis to blame, the little pyro.

“There are worse things than death, and I can do all of them.”Anne Rice The Plague, Hackers

The synopsis is basically the same, its on barnes and noble!!! We get Louis, Pandora, Armand, Marius and David back!!!!!!! WE GET ARMAND, LOUIS, PANDORA, MARIUS AND DAVID BACK!!!!!

I was pretty happy that we get them back, but at what cost? AT WHAT COST?!! There are “…other new seductive, supernatural creatures…”

WEREWOLVES. FUCKING WEREWOLVES.

About my thoughts, tbh. Although we all knew werewolves would factor in, didn’t we?

I went to the booksigning back in Oct, in which AR had expressed that her crossover books didn’t “wear well over time.” That sounded like she was not going to do anymore crossovers, period.

So I expected no werewolves contaminating our VC.

If she does have werewolves in there… to quote B from Kill Bill, Vol. 2: “Could you do what you did? Of course you could. But, I never thought you would or could do that to me.”

THE OFFICIAL COVER FOR “PRINCE LESTAT” (source)

WE HAVE A FUCKING COVER AND A SYNOPSIS I AM FREAKING OUT

SYNOPSIS WHERE ANNABELLIONCOURT??

All I know of the synopsis for this are the bullet points gleaned by l-e-s-t-a-t (here) of the Dinner Party Show, and the teasing from Anne Rice as follows (source):

“It is a big vampire chronicle,” she said. “It’s all about Lestat and all about the vampires and what they’re doing right now. How they’re coming to terms with everything that’s happened to them, and how Lestat is dealing with demands from all sides that he step forward and become some sort of leader of the tribe.”

“It’s a true sequel to ‘The Queen of the Damned,’ ” Christopher prompted. “That’s how you described it to me.” …

“It’s a sequel to the first five,” Rice corrected, meaning that it also follows “The Tale of the Body Thief” and “Memnoch the Devil.”

“I don’t want to be irritating, or how should I put it, pretentious, talking about a character as though he’s a living being, but I really had to wrestle this guy to the ground and beat him up and say, ‘Look, you’ve got to talk to me. I want to know what you’ve been doing,’ ” she said. “I can’t really write novels about that character unless he wants to come through.”

Rice went back and re-read her own books in the series before she began writing. Once she hit her stride, she wrote more material than could fit into “Prince Lestat.”

“I feel like this is Novel 1 of a new incarnation of the Vampire Chronicles,” she said.

Fave line from this:  ”I really had to wrestle this guy to the ground and beat him up”

FANART OF THIS PLEASE.

A lovely Anon told me I could get the official synopsis FROM THE SAME PAGE I GOT THE COVER ART mon dieu… I feel silly. But here it is for you:

“The novel opens with the vampire world in crisis…vampires have been proliferating out of control; burnings have commenced all over the world, huge massacres similar to those carried out by Akasha in The Queen of the Damned... Old vampires, roused from slumber in the earth are doing the bidding of a Voice commanding that they indiscriminately burn vampire-mavericks in cities from Paris and Mumbai to Hong Kong, Kyoto, and San Francisco. As the novel moves from present-day New York and the West Coast to ancient Egypt, fourth century Carthage, 14th-century Rome, the Venice of the Renaissance, the worlds and beings of all the Vampire Chronicles–Louis de Pointe du Lac; the eternally young Armand, whose face is that of a Boticelli angel; Mekare and Maharet, Pandora and Flavius; David Talbot, vampire and ultimate fixer from the secret Talamasca; and Marius, the true Child of the Millennia; along with all the other new seductive, supernatural creatures–come together in this large, luxuriant, fiercely ambitious novel to ultimately rise up and seek out who–or what–the Voice is, and to discover the secret of what it desires and why…

And, at the book’s center, the seemingly absent, curiously missing hero-wanderer, the dazzling, dangerous rebel-outlaw–the great hope of the Undead, the dazzling Prince Lestat…”

Here’s what scares me “…along with all the other new seductive, supernatural creatures–come together…”

ooc; Welp.  There it is.

WHAT WHAT WHAT

I wonder if it’s going to be set right after Queen of the Damned or ignore the ones that came after it and start over. Or, shall we say … revamp everything after QofD 😉

It’s supposed to be in between qotd and totbt, like a lost chapter or deleted scene. I  don’t think it’s rewriting the current Canon.

ooc; Anne’s said that it takes place in modern time, but is the “true” sequel to Queen of the Damned (which she later corrected to say “the first four books,” then “Memnoch”).  She said that the later books were more “memoirs,” although what she means by that, I think everyone’s still speculating.

I took her to mean that the other books post-MtD hadn’t advanced the plot, just gone back and filled in the blanks in the characters’ backstories, and that the new book would be something – well, new.

But then, she referred to the memoirs and, how did she put it, “the other experiments”? Which would mean the VC/Mayfair crossover, presumably. And for all its faults, the crossover DID at least advance the plot, in that Louis got powered up, Lestat finally woke up and she wrapped up the long-dangling Taltos plot thread (however much I really wish she hadn’t done it that way).

So maybe she just wants to do a new thing that’s pure vampire. I could live with that so long as the werewolves don’t get involved. I still haven’t been able to bring myself to read those books.

(cloudsinvenice pretty much wrote everything I was thinking so… there it is then…)

OH, MY GOD. I’M RIDICULOUSLY EXCITED.

DITTO. There’s alot of mixed reactions out there but I waver between cautiously optimistic and ridiculously excited. Maybe I’m just easy to please and hard to disappoint.

It can’t be as bad as the train wreck that was the movie of Queen of the Damned. It just can’t be.

Also, if it’s bad by hardcore fan standards, at least it’s not poisoning the water for adaptations of the series in other mediums like QotD did.

Yes, good point. I would LOVE adaptations of the series in other mediums. Perhaps this will draw Hollywood’s attention back to the possibility of working the Dark Trick on TVL into a film or series.

Where does i find the tresors i find?

Someone asked me where I’m finding these cut scene stills that I just binge-posted.

The answer is: All over the internet. Usually it’s when I do a search-by-image for a higher resolution version of an IWTV screengrab/production still I notice on my tumblr dash, sometimes the site that has the higher res version of the image is someone’s IWTV still & fanart collection, which I dig around in, and save things from. I don’t source to these sites bc they’re just collections, too. I try to source the image back to wherever its actual source is, when I can find it.

Always interested in rare production stills and cut scene stills, so do submit them I’ll give you credit in addition to the source link 😀
