Louis and Armand have an uneasy, strange conversation. Early 20th century, New York City.
Author’s Note: You requested a drabble with Nicolas dealing with the holiday. Well, after I sat down to write, this is what came out. I don’t know that he’s ‘dealing’ as well as he’d like to be, not this year. Also, please note below that there is a link for a video the lullaby he plays. Merry Christmas!
This is perfect and you’re perfect and I wish I was better at expressing just how wonderful you are. You know, another way than being evil to your characters.
I’m so glad I met you and a very merry Christmas to you.
ooc; OMG! I love this so much. ;A; The fact that you included my random headcanon about Louis’ grandmother was so awesome of you, and now I’m totally going to headcanon this whole thing about Silent Night.
Ahhh, this is just so good!
ooc: I am so glad you like it! The song I had in mind is called ‘Es wird scho glei dumpa’, it’s sung in an Austrian dialect.
It was my first time ever writing any of these characters for real, so I’m relieved and happy it brought some joy.
So yeah, read this if you want to see me write Louis, Lestat and a bit of Armand.
#Headcanon(s) Accepted #damn you and your perfect headcanon perfection.
I was honored to beta read this, very heartwarming without veering too fluffy, with some small sharp edges, too ;D AND I ALSO SUPPORT THESE HEADCANONS ok? #perfect just perfect.
Burnadette is a slight variation of Bernadette, French name meaning “Brave as a bear.” I changed it to get the fire reference ;] So Louis’ sister would have spelled it the normal way.
… I won’t deny it looks good. “Bernadette, Louis, and Paul” sound like they could be siblings 😀 BTW, that’s the Jane Austen font from DaFont.
But I wouldn’t want anyone to feel left out in the sense that I’m *special* or anything, I’m glad that some names were left out of canon, so anyone can project their own names onto those characters.
Lindsay Denise de Pointe du Lac!
Allison Catherine de Pointe du Lac!
Marie-Elizabeth Annabelle-Louise de Pointe du Lac!
etc.!
I can’t remember which fic it was but I’ve seen some fanon options for her name. I’ll reblog this post with that info if I remember them. @vampchronfic would have a suggestion.
I called her Henriette Marie (with the diminutive Minette) in a long ago mortal Louis fic. She probably has quite a lot of names since Mater didn’t give her one!
I also remember more than one writer calling her Sophie.
Ah yes, merci! I also like your choices for other chars… I think you chose Aurestile Jean Michel de Pointe du Lac for Louis’ dad… And Paulette for his mother? Or was that someone else?
And there is another ~top sekrit~ fanfic out there that assigns Lestat’s dad’s name as Valere de Lioncourt and I can’t un-headcanon that. Too perfect. It just sounds right.
Yes, Aurestile &, Paulette were from the same mortal!Louis tale 😊. Valere. I am partial to the name. *ahem*. Yet another fic had Valere as one of Lestat’s brothers.

Can I just add: the way Lestat tilts his head in that second gif,#he’s so curious, #catlike, #absorbing the whole experience, #being in a moving car, #delicious pulse of a fresh victim burning in his hand, #all served up and waiting, #like Holy Communion, #Daniel might be one of Lestat’s first human kills since reviving himself, #all those years spent healing mind and body reading comic books, #living vicariously through Sam Spade, #eating rats and alley cats in a filthy hovel, #which is normally repulsive to him on so many levels, #wearing an old moldy blanket, #rejected by Louis, #utterly alone, #hiding from all the evolving world and scary new technology #and now he’s IN IT, #he heard Louis’ voice from the street and followed, #lurked anxiously outside, #bc even in San Francisco a wraith like him could arouse suspicion, #picked the license plate number out of Daniel’s mind, #got into the backseat and waited in his car, #waited in the dark as Daniel tossed his leather jacket on him, #waited hungrily, #lips too dry to even close properly, #and now he’s ready to leap into the next big adventure, #… #just needs a good meal first.
@i-want-my-iwtv Tell me, WHY are you not writing a fic for that instead of hashtags? *prod*
*flails* I have no good reason why not… added this to my priority pile *u* SO MUCH MISERY SO MUCH ANGST SO MUCH OPTIMISM.
I am anticipating a major writing tsunami in the first quarter of this year…
Louis and his experiences with one particular Christmas song throughout the years. Of course there’s also a bit of Lestat in there, because what would we do without him?
Inspired by one of @merciful-death’s great headcanons and originally written as a Secret Santa gift to her. @i-want-my-iwtv helped with feedback and improvements.
“First of all how dare you. I love it! …Very well done. I’m glad you took on the challenge of hitting all of her prompts, and it’s clear a lot of thought and care went into this.”
Some of my actual notes while beta’ing this lovely piece, in the order that the notes appeared:
We didn’t conceive you in the normal way one comes by a child. I wish I could say you were made in love, but the entire world knows by now that your conception was fueled by desperation–though I’d beg that, at the end of that dark and frightened tunnel was more love than I properly knew what to do with.
So you were born in darkness and desperation. But you quickly became the light around which our lives revolved.
I came here tonight intending to write a passionate discourse about your life, but all I can focus on is your absence. Do you know how keenly I feel it? How keenly we both feel it?
You no longer lie as a chasm between us, as the ghost that haunts every word we utter to each other, every stolen moment or intimate touch. But you are still there. You are not forgotten.
Tonight the flat is covered in flowers for you. They are on every conceivable surface–I went a bit overboard this time, though I’m not sorry for it. …He will chastise me a bit for it, of course, especially because it will overwhelm him, but he is the one who explained to me that we must each learn to grieve in our own way. This is mine.
