Author’s Note: You requested a drabble with Nicolas dealing with the holiday. Well, after I sat down to write, this is what came out. I don’t know that he’s ‘dealing’ as well as he’d like to be, not this year. Also, please note below that there is a link for a video the lullaby he plays. Merry Christmas!
This is perfect and you’re perfect and I wish I was better at expressing just how wonderful you are. You know, another way than being evil to your characters.
I’m so glad I met you and a very merry Christmas to you.
ooc; OMG! I love this so much. ;A; The fact that you included my random headcanon about Louis’ grandmother was so awesome of you, and now I’m totally going to headcanon this whole thing about Silent Night.
Ahhh, this is just so good!
ooc: I am so glad you like it! The song I had in mind is called ‘Es wird scho glei dumpa’, it’s sung in an Austrian dialect.
It was my first time ever writing any of these characters for real, so I’m relieved and happy it brought some joy.
So yeah, read this if you want to see me write Louis, Lestat and a bit of Armand.
#Headcanon(s) Accepted #damn you and your perfect headcanon perfection.
I was honored to beta read this, very heartwarming without veering too fluffy, with some small sharp edges, too ;D AND I ALSO SUPPORT THESE HEADCANONS ok? #perfect just perfect.
Burnadette is a slight variation of Bernadette, French name meaning “Brave as a bear.” I changed it to get the fire reference ;] So Louis’ sister would have spelled it the normal way.
… I won’t deny it looks good. “Bernadette, Louis, and Paul” sound like they could be siblings 😀 BTW, that’s the Jane Austen font from DaFont.
But I wouldn’t want anyone to feel left out in the sense that I’m *special* or anything, I’m glad that some names were left out of canon, so anyone can project their own names onto those characters.
Lindsay Denise de Pointe du Lac!
Allison Catherine de Pointe du Lac!
Marie-Elizabeth Annabelle-Louise de Pointe du Lac!
etc.!
I can’t remember which fic it was but I’ve seen some fanon options for her name. I’ll reblog this post with that info if I remember them. @vampchronfic would have a suggestion.
I called her Henriette Marie (with the diminutive Minette) in a long ago mortal Louis fic. She probably has quite a lot of names since Mater didn’t give her one!
I also remember more than one writer calling her Sophie.
Ah yes, merci! I also like your choices for other chars… I think you chose Aurestile Jean Michel de Pointe du Lac for Louis’ dad… And Paulette for his mother? Or was that someone else?
And there is another ~top sekrit~ fanfic out there that assigns Lestat’s dad’s name as Valere de Lioncourt and I can’t un-headcanon that. Too perfect. It just sounds right.
Yes, Aurestile &, Paulette were from the same mortal!Louis tale 😊. Valere. I am partial to the name. *ahem*. Yet another fic had Valere as one of Lestat’s brothers.

[BTW: It’s “Mater Fabuloso,” a name someone suggested for me ages ago on here, and it’s bc “Mater” means “Mother” in Latin. We used to refer to AR as “Mater Gloriousa,” “Our Glorious Mother.” So it’s related to that.]
The name is also featured in this song, which is very upbeat but if you listen to the lyrics closely the singer is basically a guy who has to have ALL OF this poor lady bc apparently she’s already so much a part of him that he needs her more than just out of love, and smacks down the competition as unworthy. It’s pretty obsessive.
I liked it when I was a kid, so it has a nostalgic feel for me, and at that time, I just thought it was a guy who couldn’t help but express himself as to how madly in love he was. Obsession and madly in love, unhealthy relationships… very VC.
Ahhh, well, ALL kids are some degree of chubby if they’re healthy, that’s called baby fat!
I don’t remember her childhood story too well, tagging @roselioncourt for that, but I think it was a rough childhood before she was rescued? I pictured her as unhealthfully slender during that time. But maybe when Lestat rescued her and brought her to live with her new parental figures, there could have been a time period in which she reveled in the treats and might have gotten a little more than healthy baby fat!
Definitely hella cute & cherubic. At any size.
I didn’t see the Twilight movies well I’ve seen bits but not suffered through an entire movie on its own and Mackenzie Foy could have been a good kid!Rose.
^She got one of Uncle Lestan’s top hats and a new puppy.
^Another one of Uncle Lestan’s hats.
^Inquisitive nature. Uncle Lestan loved these kinds of pics, especially in daylight, when she seems oblivious to the camera, just letting nature charm her.
^Don’t keep her waiting if you said you were taking her to the playground. SERIOUSLY WE ARE ON A SCHEDULE HERE.
But I REALLY LOVE Suri Cruise as kid!Rose, too.
^I think her eyes are blue, more blue than Mackenzie’s anyway.
^”Oh nonono woman you did NOT just tell me they are out of black & white cookies. I would like to speak with your manager.” Suri has some attitude, she’s not just a pretty face. Uncle Lestan always said to speak up when you want something, people can’t read your mind…
^I really like this coat. Fake fur from Uncle Lestan, because she wanted a fur coat but stipulated that it couldn’t be real. She didn’t want to hurt any animals for it.
^This smile, this is what Uncle Lestan would do just about anything for! Perform whole soliloquys while doing handstands, pretend the floor is lava, make silly noises, funny faces, anything. ❤
^Bc of reasons.
^She has serious stage presence already. And not afraid to wear fancy fabrics do you realize that that is EYELET?! You know how easy it is to ruin eyelet? VERY. And navy is a pretty mature color for a kid. She’s got her “uncle’s” fashion sense already ;]
Louis and his experiences with one particular Christmas song throughout the years. Of course there’s also a bit of Lestat in there, because what would we do without him?
Inspired by one of @merciful-death’s great headcanons and originally written as a Secret Santa gift to her. @i-want-my-iwtv helped with feedback and improvements.
“First of all how dare you. I love it! …Very well done. I’m glad you took on the challenge of hitting all of her prompts, and it’s clear a lot of thought and care went into this.”
Some of my actual notes while beta’ing this lovely piece, in the order that the notes appeared:
Usually I can break into the other person’s mind and prevent attacks that way if I wish. The fight is often over before it begins in such situations as some find it difficult to defend both mind and body from attack simultaneously.
Alternatively, I tend to rely more upon speed and weak points in muscles and bone structure as my preferred method of attack. Knowing which joints are vulnerable or which pressure points will hurt enough to stall someone’s defences can be very useful. Crippling an opponent at the knees, for example, is useful if they exceed you in general height and weight.
Physical weapons are rarely a necessity for me. I was trained in how to use a rapier, but since it was not an advantage for me as a mortal, I prefer to use other methods. Swordplay is not much use in an era where guns and knives seem to be preferred weaponry.
Essentially, my preferred fighting style is the style that ensures I do not lose in a given situation.
♛Do I enjoy Christmas at all, you know, my first reaction was Yes, of course, who wouldn’t?!
But, but… this holiday, like others, have been heavily commercialized. Some of the commercials are entertaining, admittedly, but advertisers are cramming it into our faces earlier and earlier on the calendar. It saps some of the real meaning out of it, which should be an appreciation for what we have and a hope for the new year to treat us well, too. Oh, and also, something about some religious figure’s birthday? Yeah, something about that kid born in a barn, too.
Who do I want to catch under the mistletoe? Aside from the usual suspect *cough* Louis *cough*, I hope I get David under there. I have spent too long without his touch, I know he holds back from physical affection when he visits so as not to offend Louis, but he should be aware by now that kissing is a greeting, like a handshake. It doesn’t have to lead any further. Although it cannnnn… And Louis is well aware that I… that my love is not a limited resource; spending it on David -or anyone else- does not mean less for Louis.
As for spending the holiday traditionally sedate or flashy ‘Hallmark’, every year is different. It depends on how well I’m getting along with my kin, how well they are getting along with each other, whether we can have a gathering and the traditional Ugly Sweater contest, so some years we have it very familial, lots of bells and whistles, less of Armand and I snapping at each other, but there are some years we choose to stay with our smaller coven units separately. Even if we’re getting along. Sometimes all you want is to curl up in front of the fire with the one person you love most for a good healing 7 hours or so. That’s the case this year.
One of my favorite Christmas parties was at Night Island, in which we invited a pack of fashionable white-collar evildoers, wined and dined them, and then on my signal (a ringing triangle!), we all pounced, devouring the feast together. What a fantastic mess! Blood spatter everywhere. It was deliciously gruesome, a blood fight is so much more sexual than a food fight. We were all wasted. Daniel passed out from the chemicals of his chosen victims.
Likes/dislikes about Christmas
So many things, but I’ll keep this short for the sake of my -and your- mental health.
A few things I enjoy about Christmas:
Wearing a red velvet Santa suit. Mine’s stylish, no fake belly + beard combo.
Flirting with the shop people when buying gifts for others. Sometimes while wearing the suit *smirks*
A few things I do not enjoy about Christmas:
Honestly I’m tired of buying old books for Louis. We have too many as it is. At this point I think he asks for them to annoy me.
Once is fine, but certain Christmas music on repeat is really detestable. Malls during the holidays are not a happy place for me for this reason.
On that note, I also despise all Christmas music sung by the Chipmunks.
So-called charity organizations who give only pennies to the dollar they receive to the people they are supposedly gathering the money for. Despicable.
We didn’t conceive you in the normal way one comes by a child. I wish I could say you were made in love, but the entire world knows by now that your conception was fueled by desperation–though I’d beg that, at the end of that dark and frightened tunnel was more love than I properly knew what to do with.
So you were born in darkness and desperation. But you quickly became the light around which our lives revolved.
I came here tonight intending to write a passionate discourse about your life, but all I can focus on is your absence. Do you know how keenly I feel it? How keenly we both feel it?
You no longer lie as a chasm between us, as the ghost that haunts every word we utter to each other, every stolen moment or intimate touch. But you are still there. You are not forgotten.
Tonight the flat is covered in flowers for you. They are on every conceivable surface–I went a bit overboard this time, though I’m not sorry for it. …He will chastise me a bit for it, of course, especially because it will overwhelm him, but he is the one who explained to me that we must each learn to grieve in our own way. This is mine.
