Did Louis actually visit Lestat in IWTV when Lestat went back to New Orleans to rot in his house? Because Lestat didn’t mention that Louis had visited him in “The vampire lestat”. Lestat only said that Armand visited him and that he knew that Louis was in New Orleans. Thanks for clearing up :)

Ooooh good question! In IWTV, Louis says that he did visit Lestat (and it was in the movie).

image

We actually don’t know if it happened :-

  1. book!IWTV has Louis following a young vampire to Lestat’s door.
  2. In the Tale of the Body Thief, Lestat says it never happened.

We have discrepancy in canon. Your headcanon may be that it happened, and someone else’s may be that it didn’t. With Louis’ book, was he telling his tale to try to call out Lestat? Maybe he knew that inventing a scene like this might provoke Lestat to respond. If so, it worked, Lestat wrote TVL as a response to IWTV. Also, Louis told his story to Daniel, who then had to send it to his editor(s), so maybe it was invented by someone other than Louis for whatever reason.

So who do I believe? Umm, I don’t think Louis is a liar, and I don’t think anyone invented it. Lestat has said, “I never lie, at least not to those I don’t love.” which means that he DOES lie to those he loves.

I’m going w/ Louis on this and saying that it happened as Louis described it.

1. Book!IWTV:

“Because shortly after that I saw a vampire in New Orleans, a sleek white-faced young man walking alone on the broad sidewalks of St. Charles Avenue…” (this mystery vampire kills a woman and takes her baby to a shabby old house where he meets up with another vampire) “My eyes widened as I studied this stooped and shivering vampire whose rich blond hair hung down in loose waves covering his face… I saw clearly, unmistakably, the profile of Lestat, that smooth skin now devoid of even the faintest trace of his old scars.”

BTW, it’s implied that that young vampire was one of Lestat’s own fledglings (another mystery fledgling?!):

`You all leave me!’ he whined now in a thin, high-pitched voice.“

(Louis taps at the window)

…” `It’s Louis! Louis!’ he said. `Let him in’ And he gestured frantically, like an invalid, for the young `nurse’ to obey. … and I could see the tears welling in his eyes…How baffling and awful it was, this smoothfaced, shimmering immortal man bent and rattled and whining like a crone.”

2. HOWEVER…

In Tale of the Body Thief, Lestat calls Louis a liar, and I think he’s referring to the whole visit scene:

“Ah, that makes you out to be a perfect liar,” I said furiously. “You described my weeping in your miserable memoir in a scene which we both know did not take place!”

Three universal truths about RP

duendology:

1. Headcanon is like an opinion is like an arse, everyone’s got their own.

2. Headcanon is in fact an interpretation, nothing more nothing less.

3. Don’t preach your headcanon as some universal truth.

4. All the three above apply to readers as well, not only rpers, of course.

Please don’t get upset if/when someone disagrees w/ your interpretation, just remember it’s about fictional characters, and not a personal attack. Even if the facts are from canon itself, some ppl may choose not to recognize some canon facts.

(to muse) Story of your first kiss?

“Ah, it was one of the most erotic, most savoring moments I had ever experienced. It was a brisk moment, caught in the smooth heat of the night. He was laying there, my beloved Nicolas. His long, beautiful hair was spread across the pillow, and he glowed there with an ethereal presence.

I placed myself down next to him and cupped his face; he shied away at first, but I calmed him nevertheless. I softly claimed his lips with mine, and we danced into a night of superb passion. The rest they say, is history.”

you know how you’re okay with Antonio!Armand? I’m also okay with QOTD Marius (i know I know) If only because unlike a man with long blond hair- QOTD Marius actually looks like a damn Roman!

You have a valid point, and I actually rather like this production still is he wearing red velvet?? (I think it’s velour but it counts!)

The other interesting wrinkle is that in her book, Pandora describes him as returning to Rome from his wanderings with long hair, which was very much not done, it being a barbarian look. I like think that he let his hair grow so he could mingle better and get them to talk to him (in much the same way that people will – often unconsciously – alter their speech patterns to fit in) to get material for whatever he was writing at the time.

Of course, as you say, the situation with the druids was a whole other thing, but the fact he’d kept his hair long against social custom in the past explains why he doesn’t always rush to cut it in later times – apparently in Europe in the 15th century men could get away with whatever length they wanted, though I’m trying to narrow it down to 15th century Italy, or even Venice, because jesus christ I require all the Marius knowledge apparently…

I liked the idea of the druids not letting him cut his hair. Something about that felt like another means of trying to break him, by taking away his ability to even choose his own grooming, they were trying to chip away at his sense of self, the better to give himself over to what they wanted him to be for them.

Maybe part of why Marius was drawn to rescue Armand from the brothel is that he could relate to the frustration of imprisonment, though his own abuse was very different from Armand’s.

What are your thoughts on Nicolas De Lenfent? :o

Thoughts about Nicki? oh gosh I has lots of Nicki thoughts.

Ask me something specific about him. In general…

[Fanart by garama]

  • Nicki is a rich character, he is far more than merely Louis (or Antoine) 1.0.
  • There seems to be a shared fanon headcanon that he was Lestat’s first real boyfriend

    ♥u♥

  • They even “did it” in church *gasp* *clutches pearls*
  •  Check out my Nicolas de Lenfent tag for fanart, fanfic, memeythings, headcanons, discussion, casting, etc. ENJOY! (it’s all mixed in there bc… idk… I didn’t think I’d ever need separate categories for separate characters and now I kinda wish that I’d been doing that!? Now I’m too lazy to go into the mass post editor so OH WELL)

Any Nicki RPers who see this, please reblog so that fashionablyrahl can check out your blog for more Nicki action ;}

(I’d make a list myself but I don’t want to play favorites.)

Lestat & Corsets

romanchronicles:

So, we all remember that in “The Vampire Lestat” Gabrielle kills a boy solely for his more comfortable clothing, and Lestat does not protest.

Possible explanation why:

OwO *needs to sit down and have a hot tea*

…intriguing headcanon >;}

We know that Lestat is more effeminate than a normal French man would already be. So, perhaps, when he was younger, if he was wearing a nightgown he could be mistaken for a svelte female. Of course, with six older brothers, he must have done something to upset them, like a prank, and therefore, they decided to exact some sort of revenge.

So, a number of days later, it rained, and Lestat was taking care of the horses (because the de Lioncourts are poor) and he happened to slip in the mud. Of course, when he goes back into the “castle” his brothers decide to “help” him. They get his dirty clothes off and draw him a bath, while a couple of them scurry off to get him some new clothes. Unbeknownst to Lestat, they grab some clothes from Gabrielle’s room, including a corset. Then they return to the bathroom and help Lestat get dressed in his normal clothes. Then a couple of his brothers overpower him while another two force him into the corset. Then, they begin to tighten it, and they aren’t very nice about it either. It’s almost bone crushingly tight.

Of course, Lestat is doubled over in pain, and all six of his brothers leave. A chair is place in front of the door, under the doorknob, so Lestat is locked in. He isn’t found until the next morning, and his luck still isn’t good. When his father finds out that his son was in a corset, all hell breaks loose and Lestat is punished severely.

i-want-my-iwtv

takemetocoffin-or-losemeforeverThe good side of pronouncing Lestat in the non-Germanic way is that you can make stupid puns with the determiner “les” in French. And that’s priceless.

More seriously, since I saw the movie before reading the books, I pronounce the final “T” of Lestat, while it’s usually not the case in French. So, theoretically, in modern French, the pronunciation would be something like “lesta”. But it sounds kinda silly, and there is an awful lot of exceptions to the “t” rule. Furthermore, “Lestat” hugely looks like the Occitan word “estat”, prononced “S-taT”. And guess where Occitan, an old language still used nowadays, is spoken? In south France, which include Auvergne. So, in a very twisted way, “LestaT” as an old french name is making sense. At least if you accept the idea that “the state” is a decent name for a person.

OuO very informative.

AR says it was a typo of Lestan, “Le,” French for “The,” + “Stan” for her husband, Stan Rice, and the typo with the “T” stuck. In a way, Uncle Lestan is actually how AR intended his name to be.

In canon, Lestat explains in Blackwood Farm that his name is just the first letters of his siblings’ names:

“What an unusual name, Lestat,” she returned. “Does it have a meaning?”

“None whatsoever, Madam,” Lestat answered. “If memory serves me right, and it does less and less, the name’s compounded of the first letter of each of my six older brothers’ names, all of whom – the brothers and their names – I grew up to cheerfully and vigorously despise.”

^This could work, but we only know one of his brother’s names, Augustin.

Discussing this with viaticumforthemarquise-archive… maybe Augustin (or one of Lestat’s brothers) told him that just to hurt his feelings, like “YOU ARE SO WORTHLESS THAT AT BIRTH OUR PARENTS COULD ONLY MUSTER THE CREATIVITY TO TAKE A LETTER FROM EACH OF OUR NAMES” *SLAPS*

Lestat: *screaming internally*

They told him this at a young age … and he never questioned it ;A;

I liked this headcanon for Lestat’s naming, by viaticumforthemarquise-archive.

So IF the vampires from the VC could have sex with humans and other vampires what would their sexual styles be or what would their sexual history be. Vampires like Lestat, Louis, Armand, and Marius.

Sexual styles and history vary so much depending on the ship, whether they’re mortal or immortal, the age of the character, and so many different factors…

What your really asking is about relationship dynamics, the balance of power, the level of dependency on eachother, the amount of trust, how often they’re even in the mood, etc. All those things fluctuate over time.

Lestat wanted to answer this in a snarky way but I’ll try anyway:

Lestat

  • Style w/ mortals: He’s always enjoyed taking the Little Drink while snuggling after sex, or during. This is how he can get away with having innocent blood now and then, as a treat. He tends to top.
  • Style w/ Louis: In the past, he would have to get Louis so worked up with foreplay that he’s completely begging for the D, or blood, or both. Currently, Lestat loves it when Louis takes control and bosses him around.
  • History: There’s fanon out there that suggests he was sexually abused as a child, well into his teens. I think that would help explain his difficulty in learning how to love properly, as he comes across as overly sexually demanding (like literally throwing himself on Louis), at least in movie!IWTV.

Louis:

  • Style w/ mortals: Louis doesn’t have sex with mortals (except one OC that I won’t mention YET AGAIN) bc he doesn’t get that close to mortals. But he does get crushes on them occasionally, like Babette Freneire.
  • Style w/ Lestat: See above. In the past, Louis was conflicted in his feelings for Lestat, his first (or second) male lover, and would prefer Lestat to be the aggressor, and then punish himself later for enjoying it. Currently, Louis especially enjoys calling/sexting Lestat during business meetings and getting him painfully turned on.
  • History: There’s fanon out there that suggests Louis had one male lover before Lestat, but for the most part, his sexual history was just getting drunk and sleeping with prostitutes. He had issues equating sex with love, it took him a long time to learn it, and is now very comfortable with expressing his feelings sexually.

Armand: (I really should leave this to the Armand and Daniel RPers)(BUT I CANNOT LEAVE A QUESTION UNANSWERED IT IS A PERSONAL FLAW)

  • Style w/ mortals: Armand doesn’t have sex with mortals unless he’s sharing them with Daniel. Armand wouldn’t kill these, he makes sure they get home safely.
  • Style w/ vampires: I would imagine that Armand was a generous lover with Louis, almost always the one to initiate. Currently he can be a bossy bottom, and likes it when his lovers initiate.
  • History: he was in brothels as a mortal, and it took him some time to learn to trust others. Marius was his first loving relationship, and Armand was rebellious then, seemingly unable to accept gentleness, because of his past.

Marius:

(I really should leave this to the Armand and Marius RPers)(BUT I CANNOT LEAVE A QUESTION UNANSWERED IT IS A PERSONAL FLAW)

  • Style w/ mortals: Marius has occasionally slept with the models he paints. He is always in control of anything that happens.
  • Style w/ vampires: Marius has occasionally slept with the models he paints. He is always in control of anything that happens.

  • History: We don’t have much canon support for Marius’ sexual history, but he did have a long term ship with Pandora in which he was unable to get it up on their wedding night but y’know, performance issues, it’s not uncommon. One out of five…
